I’ll put that in my ‘ideas’ folder for future projects. Got a whole heap of other half finished stories waiting to see the light of day.

This is our generation, isn't it? Wanting to know the story beyond or within the story. When I wrote this, I simply made Jamie a lowlife thief who simply took a dislike to the pair, the kind of nasty person who will look for opportunity in another's misfortune. No more than that, apart from being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I think it's simply laziness in some of the British people I've met. I had a cousin called Carey who used to get irritated when people mispronounced his name. Fortunately, being long in the tooth, I no longer get irritated when people address me in emails as 'Dear Brain', although in training sessions I constantly remind people to not only spellcheck but to also proofread. I remember reading the end of one email with the line "I hope this does not cause you any incontinence".

Hi Tim, Thanks as always for the kind words. It's a short piece but hopefully with a good heart. The mother forgetting things is there because I remember my own mother doing the same thing, nothing medical, just a symptom of getting older. I remember how much it prayed on my nerves at the time. And here I am now, finding myself doing the same thing. Honestly, thank goodness for Google, otherwise my friends and I would be tormented by long lists of unanswered questions. Brian

A cormorant swoops down towards one of the secluded coves along the Devonshire headland, its dark silhouette skimming over granite and sand below. Both body and shadow pull away just before they collide punctuated by an ugly, guttural croak, barely audible above the surf. Two human figures lay unmoving in the sun trap created by the cove, while, wave upon wave, the sea reaches toward them. One brave swell spreads like pooling blood beneath a pair of trainers arranged at the end of a beach to

Short coming-of-age story about 19 year old Carey, experiencing his first sexual encounter while on holiday with his mother on the south coast of England.

Thanks for leading me to this @Timothy M.. What a fantastic tale with a wonderful heart, and now some of the little details in A Stripy Gift make more sense. Love the nice ending for Mr Richard, too. Good job.

Lovely short story, @Timothy M.. Good things happen at Christmas. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Tough one to read, but with a glimmer of hope at the end there. That horrible feeling of hopelessness when Cyril knows what’s coming, but has nowhere else to go. Couples can get caught in this kind of cycle of violence and it takes courage for the one being victimised to walk away. Too often we hear tragic news about those that never did. Let’s hope Stuart turns out to be good for Cyril. And I pray Cyril didn’t bring his phone with him, with the tracking app.

Nice story, Jay T. Makes you realise how blind we can be to another person’s games. Kevin was lucky to still have Aaron around—good things do happen. For all that, though, I felt sad about Mark at the end. Kevin is in no way responsible, but I can’t help wondering what sent Mark down this hedonistic, ultimately tragic, path in the first place. Good job.

Chapter 1 Patrick’s Personal Card
lomax61 commented on Timothy M.'s story chapter in Chapter 1 Patrick’s Personal Card
Hi Tim, I love the many touches here, Patrick’s sensitivity shown in the way he can sense and draw a person’s heart’s desire, the love and happiness but can also the darkness. There alone you have the makings of a great story – very Stephen King-esque. You could almost turn the card shop into a character of its own. I really enjoyed the ending too. Nice introduction to the man and his boy. A mystery awaits, and the reader is automatically drawn to the next chapter. You paint Patrick as a decent person, shy and modest, accepting his lot in life but still holding out the hope of happiness. -
Thanks glitteryantlers. I'm getting the beta version ready but would appreciate your help. Lomax61

Hello everyone, I've had a couple of novels showcased on Gay Authors but find myself in need some more in depth help with the latest one. So I'm looking for Beta Readers and I decided to open the invitation to anyone who wants to join me in this endeavour. Let me know if you're interest, and I will direct you to the relevant story link. Thanks in advance, Brian (Lomax61)

Thanks for reading, Tim. I thought it would be a shame not to let this old story have a bit of time in the light. I was going to turn this into a full length story but decided to leave it as a short piece. Brian

When The Road Darkens (or Five Windows) "Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens." (J. R. R. Tolkien) Window One: September 2005 - Giles Plunged into sudden darkness, the flamenco red Peugeot 307 trembled in the wake of the monstrous heavy goods vehicle overtaking them in the fast lane of the motorway. Giles had woken startled, dropping the unopened bottle of Evian squeezed between his thighs. A nervous glance at the speedometer confirmed the tr

A short story in five pieces about love, loss and redemption.

Well! I am speechless. Nothing to say but what a fantastic little story that needs to be expanded. Just loved the main character's confusion about the marks on his arm and the attitude of the workmates. Great working the pocket watch into the story, a link between the caller and the night before. And nice meeting the vampire, albeit a very shy one. Yes, all in all a really warm and beautiful story. Brian

Thank you all for your kind wishes. It was indeed an unexpectedly good day, a bit more energetic than I would normally have enjoyed, but good nonetheless. Finished off by a South Indian Curry at a restaurant where the waiters not only clapped along while singing Happy Birthday, but also performed a small Bollywood style dance. To say I was embarrassed would be the understatement of the century. Brian

Prompt 412 What time are we supposed to be there?
lomax61 commented on Timothy M.'s story chapter in Prompt 412 What time are we supposed to be there?
Wonderful. A 'How to deal with religious bigots' prompt. I've read scenes that go into chapter and verse of the Bible to try and justify the nature of humankind. So it's nice when you let gentle reasoning and humour make your point. Loved this. Brian -
Chapter 10 Playing a Game of Hearts
lomax61 commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 10 Playing a Game of Hearts
Good Golly. This gets hotter and hotter. Good work here Gary. Shower scenes can get a little hackneyed but you kept this one steaming hot. You also build the heat of the relationship between the two and I love the ‘try’ part at the end. So like Michael to peel away at a seemingly innocent remark - and actually be right in the process. Good work. Brian -
Aha. The sex scene. Tough to write, huh? But beautifully done and not a moment too soon. It's always difficult to know when is the right time in a story to get the guys together, but you've chosen wisely here. It's not just sex but sex motivated by love and that makes this so much more readable and endearing. Good show. Brian

Another great chapter with lots happening. Lanny is a dick. But we all need those kind of characters in stories so that the good guys have someone to stick it to - and Kendall punching Lanny in the nose did it for me. That Candy is manipulating Lanny is low, though, and I can only hope they both get what they deserve. What the hell did Michael ever see in her? It’ll be interesting to find out more about her motivations for causing Michael harm - is it just wounded pride? The potty chair remark had me laughing out loud. And the kiss, good work, but now it’s time to talk. Good work, as always. Brian

Chapter 7 Changing the Rules
lomax61 commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 7 Changing the Rules
I got so caught up reading this story that I’ve not left reviews like I should, so I’m catching up now. Loved this chapter because it shows how in sync Kendall and Michael. So when Michael has wound himself up so much that he has to call Kendall, Kendall has already called and left a message. And even the call, when Kendall knows what Michael is thinking and tells him they could meet up over the weekend, which makes Michael feel better, you can kind of see how these two are already joined at the hip. Great chapter. Brian
