here's the trick... he don't say no! -
“Here?” “No.” Issac’s lips moved in my hair, “Lower.” “Here?” “I can still feel that.” “Here?” I slid my hand further down his thigh. “Yeah, you’ve gone now.” I walked my fingers carefully back up Issac’s thigh to the place where feeling faded into numbness and I felt him smile against my scalp when he could feel my fingers again. I had ended up on his left side in the bed, and Issac had been weirdly alright with my curiosity about the stump. The leg ended just above where the knee joint w

We cook a lot of Turkish, so our meatballs have onions and mustard seeds and Kofte spices in (we get our mix from the lovely Amir of "the Spice Boys" in Kas. approx a mix with allspice, paprika, chilli, cumin and coriander, plus stuff i don't know. and egg obviously.

Well, i personally don't Camp because the summer is really really busy on the farm (making hay, shearing sheep, dealing generally with the sun) plus the wedding this year, but i am i happy sounding board. I saw the email and was like... pfft, i'll managed that anyway without any kind of task to do (sorry, i'm weird) We should totally have a Wrimo thread in November though!

Rhydian looked out across the yard to the fields. There were two figures on horseback leading four other horses in from the big field on head collars. Both figures were riding bareback, grinning and laughing as they came in. Rhydian shaded his eyes in the August heat to see them both clearer. One was obviously Moreta and Pal’s son, he had the same caramel skin and curly dark hair. The other figure was golden brown and sun-bleached under his Stetson. “Who’s that?” Rhydian asked, turning to Moret

Rhydian has been doomed to spend the summer alone on a Western Ranch in Northern California. There, he meets Sam and Caleb, and his steep learning curve, from riding to relationships, boundaries and responsibilities, begins to shape him from a teenager into a capable young man.

Sixteen. It felt like every other Friday morning. I woke up early, having run until midnight, but I woke feeling annoyed, empty, guilty, angry. Despite the best intentions of running, I had still dreamt of Zach and woken with a steel bar in my pyjamas that didn’t much want to go away. It’s a poor look out if a guy can’t give it for a quick fantasy on his birthday. I got my presents over a breakfast of waffles and syrup; new trainers, a bunch of less interesting things like socks and aftershave,

Dating Issac was about the most exciting thing I’d ever done. Every day was exhilarating, every text and phone call electrically charged, every times we met I felt like a horny puppy mixed with a love struck teenager. We ran to the market in the mornings, and Issac showed me his athletic blade, a leg especially designed for running shaped like a hook and made from really springy steel. It made him much faster, more confident when he ran, and we kept up a good pace. Issac introduced me to the gr

The man who owned The Fish and Antlers was called Mack, and that week he changed the restaurants schedule permanently to give everyone the full day off on Monday, even Issac, who never seemed not to be thinking about either the restaurant or food in some way. Issac told me that Mack was really keen on staff bonding, so that Monday, which was due to be the hottest day of the year so far, he called a picnic and games afternoon and told all the chef’s not to cook anything at all. Issac and I had s

The 8 point story arc or What my writing was missing
Sasha Distan replied to Kenny Deheart's topic in Writer's Circle
I completely agree here. i wrote the whole of Born Wolf without a single word of planning and i get told that it's the best thing i've ever written. it was hard, emotional, challenging. i forced myself to write other characters, side plots, deaths, births, the works. female characters (which is my least favourite thing to do for some reason) all the things i'm bad at to make myself a better writer. but my process is generally the same. open word, type furiously, post online, await shouting. that's it. A friend of mine uses Scrivener to plan her works and i have seen so many "authors" get so tied up in planning for a novel, that they never actually get on and write anything. i know this doesn't apply to everyone, and i promise that i'm not inciting hatred of Scrivener users, but each writer's process is different, and I really agree with Thorn when he says if my process works for me, i won't fix it. people i know would never sit down to write a novel without planning, but i swear for me it just happens, so there we go. -
Born Wolf - Q and A
Sasha Distan replied to Sasha Distan's topic in Promoted Author Discussion Forum
*cowers* holy cow... i have most of another chapter of Palace Life finished already actually. the problem is that for me, i;ve been mucking around with these demons for 10 years. they are very fixed in my mind, so i can leave them and come back in six months and i know they'll be fine. i realise as a reader that will be very annoying, but for me, there i no pressure of "oh god i'm going to forget this if i don't get it down" i will do my very best.- 21 replies

Whereas i am actually challenging myself right now with a story written in unlimited 3rd POV, with characters who have rather different internal voices. we'll see how that goes...
