Just had a freak out where I realised I'd forgotten the lyrics to a verse of one of the songs I was gonna play. Couldn't find it written down anywhere. Penned it in a hotel room in San Diego seven years ago and have been singing it from memory ever since, but now I haven't played it in like two years. But then it came back to me.
It must be nice to be able to just wake up like that. Currently, if I'm gonna be able to get to sleep before 4 am I need to be medicated, and I never wake up in time for anything without an alarm.
What I love about your style is how minimalist it is, both your poetry and your prose. Every word has intent and meaning. No embellishments, only stark truth. Thank you for sharing your writing with us.
Good morning! Happy Sunday! It's noon here, but pretty sure you're all still asleep over there across the pond. Hope you're all sleeping well.
I have a gig today, opening for a friend at a small, informal thing. Playing my piano tunes today, which I haven't in a while, so kind of nervous. Wish me luck!
i said
i could write poetry about your back
the lines and the curves of it
men have written epics about less
and you said
that in this world there is a single truth
and nobody knows of it
and then you got out of bed to dress
and i was left here staring at the beauty that is you
the beauty that is true
knowing there is nothing i can do
every scar tells a story
and i can read them on your wrists
every word is a poem

I should probably add that even if there's no 'gay gene', that doesn't mean that being gay is a choice or something that's not innate. There are many ways for something to be biological, or neurobiological, without it being genetic. We are far more biologically complex than our genes can properly account for.
It's so cold tonight. Need to get in some firewood soon. In the meantime, I'm bundled up in blankets. I love my flat, but it's poorly insulated...
EDIT: Tea helps too. My mug says, 'A cup of tea makes everything better.' It tells the truth.
Different things work at different times. Sometimes picking up an instrument does the trick. Sometimes I write. Today, I game.
@mollyhousemouse I've been playing The Sims 4 today. Playing with some cute boys I made. Screenshot attached:
This is true. Both the 'pissed' part and the alcohol poisoning part. Between Dave saying goodbye and Nick waking up, Nick would have received some care from his sister and Richard, been made to drink water, probably with some sugar and table salt in it, which also restores electrolytes and helps the body rehydrate properly, and so on. He's not quite at the stomach pumping stage. (I have seen people at the stomach pumping stage; it is not pretty.)
So, what are you all up to on this fine Saturday? I've been gaming all day. Needed to relax. My anxiety's letting up a little, which is good. Nothing like distraction as a coping mechanism, I guess.
Interestingly, there's a recording programme called Audacity, and a company called Avid who produce hardware and software for musical recording and mixing. Funny coincidence.
EDIT: Also, good morning! ❤️
