    Chapter 2

Killian -derived from Cillian and also Cealach - meaning Bright-head, or Little Warior also Little Church - certainly does not mean blind.

Again the suspense and interest is diminished by the excessive repetition of supposed horror. At some point the excess becomes ordinary and no longer impresses.
  3. There comes a point when attempting to convey horror that the excess leaves on immune to the horror.
  4. OK! So from the final part of the epilogue, we'll all be waiting for the next part of his story!

    Twenty-Four

Enjoyed this chapter and even more the idea that if indeed they could purchase all of Pevsner's Buildings of England - they might well be able to build their own flats!
  6. I should have said, I assumed Cheshire since the proximity of Cheshire to Wales as well as Manchester made it a reasonable bet.
  7. We do indeed know approximately where they are - North West England, certainly outside Manchester but probably not in Lancashire, there seems to be a Welsh connection so one is inclined to assume that they are in Cheshire, but with the expansion of Manchester as a Metropolis it might well be somewhere in the Cheadle area or even Stockport.
  8. I keep hoping that it is youth and not callowness that allowed Jamie to be distracted sufficiently to allow Urvan to escape once more.

    A New Friend!!

Interesting that you have confused the concept of British with English. Most Welsh I know do not consider themselves English and rightly so, however, the term Britain and British refers to all three parts of the island of Britain - hence Great Britain meaning the whole island. As a person whose family are very much of the Marches on the English-Welsh border, I am pretty certain that only a person who is unfamiliar with at the least geography would make that error. PS. I do hope that since he has a Jordanian mother I look forward to seeing where that takes him - since I too am half Levantine through my mother. Peace

    A New Friend!!

Not to be pedantic, but if Nayef is Welsh, then like his wife, he is also "British." British refers to the whole island of Britain and as a citizenship includes Northern Ireland. Great Britain means the whole British island which is divided into three countries, Wales, Scotland and England - perhaps you meant that Nayef's wife was English or Scottish since in any case both Scots and English as well as the Welsh are all British. That said, each of the four countries, England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland (Ulster) speak English as an official communal language, however, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland each have their own individual language, all three languages having a common root that is Celtic. They are NOT dialects of English, they are independent languages that predate English by thousands of years. Thank you for taking the time to read this, this is to demonstrate at least the Welsh language. (Below is the same sentence in Welsh.) Diolch am gymryd yr amser i ddarllen hwn, mae hyn er mwyn dangos y Gymraeg o leiaf.

    Progress

15 chapters and now another with only two short elements of action in two chapters other than a continued series of angst..... is this actually going somewhere?

    Chapter 4

I note that there is a little confusion over the British university system. While colleges can be huge and lectures can sometimes be attended by large numbers, the lectures themselves are rarely compulsory, the undergrads being expected to do research and reading of material themselves then attended meetings with tutors/counselors generally in small groups for discussions on the material - these groups are rarely more than a handful of attendees. Few subjects require drop tests or quizzes as they do in American colleges, though some may require "paper" in terms of a project. Mostly the passing is based on the end of year exams.

    Final Chapter

Very well written, prose excellent. I was however very disturbed over a total lack of understanding of the division between the two principle branches of Islam and their antipathy for each other, often leading to extreme violence. I am also surprised that any one who is obviously intelligent should have made a mistake all too common in the USA of mistaking the Biblical Philistines, an Aegean people brought in to Palestine by the Ancient Egyptians to act as a buffer between Egypt and the Hittites. Palestinians on the other hand, are Arabs, almost 400 million in today's world, all of whom are Semites, and approximately 30% of whom are Christians. The conflict between Arabs and Israelis exists only since the 1940s. Prior to that the Arabs for centuries were the only people who gave Jews asylum and a safe haven and security, so no they have NOT been enemies for time immemorial. I am also surprised at the continuous error in thinking that the Iranians/Persians are members of the Arab race and culture. Persians/Iranians are NOT Semites, like the Arabs and the original Jews, they are Indo-Europeans and the original Aryans, who have a great deal shared antipathy with the Arabs.
