Personally I find this font really difficult to read (getting old sucks). Interesting to get Chris’ point of view but like Dan, more information about the reason Chris was expelled is needed. -

Can I give this more than 1 ❤️? I know you said this is your first story but I think it’s very well done. I know it’s predictable but sometimes you just need a good dose of uncomplicated romance.

All’s well that ends well. I’m going to miss this story and all its colourful characters. A tribute to the author for making them come to life and making them feel like just old friends.

Beautifully written story. Kleenex came in handy as I read this chapter. Jill certainly didn’t wait long to re enter the picture, but I guess as I recall Jericho said in an earlier chapter there wasn’t a whole lot of choice in the area.

“Preserving memories” what a beautiful phrase. Such a bittersweet chapter; hoping for but knowing there is no miracle for our young lovers.😢

❤️❤️! Love tempered with the knowledge it’s only temporary; the heartache when time runs out will still be real. The bubble they live in now is getting disrupted by a tornado, waiting with bated breath to learn how it affects them. As we see by today’s news, tornadoes can be so devastating.

The boys are both teens that are learning a serious life lesson and are dealing with it, however messy that may be. I’m not sure why Dad feels he has to dispense physical judgment. I feel it is totally inappropriate. While he could express strong disappointment, this has crossed a moral line imho. Wayne was the mature and more compassionate person in the room.

Is it coincidence that the priest is named Fr Lechner, sounds very apt for a lecherous priest. Very interested to see how redemption is achieved for our young Inno; many young men have never recovered from this institutional rape and deflection of blame onto the victims.

In spite of being born into a loveless family Niki has the advantage of wealth that allows him to indulge in his passion as a street painter. He also dodged a potentially dangerous situation in his involvement with Raimund who could easily have forced him into the darkest parts of gay culture. Now he unintentionally gets his freedom. Great start to the story, am intrigued to learn more.

The sense of impending disaster was so palpable that my heart was racing as I read Dominic’s final moments. As in real life, not everyone gets a HEA. Life can be messy, chaotic and in spite of medical intervention and the support of a loving partner it can end tragically. It has not been an easy read for sure but as I said before it’s a story that needs to be told. So many people with mental illness are misunderstood and stigmatized. Many people also underestimate the challenges of daily dealing with mental illness especially as help from the medical community is not always readily available or is not accessible in a timely manner. Thank you for sharing this with us. Peter

I had a partner that suffered with bipolar disorder. It was a roller coaster of good days followed by down days; there would be no warning of change to come. I thought with all good intentions that I could stay in the relationship but unfortunately after 9 years I had to leave to preserve my own sanity. Mental illness is difficult to treat and is not easy to understand even if you live with it constantly. I am really appreciating your story. By coincidence our therapist was Dutch as I am also a child of Dutch parents.

In Canada there can be a 72 hour confinement in an emergency situation (without the patient’s consent). The one bright spot is the relative short time to when Dominic is aware of what happened and his recognition of what his trigger was. While it was certainly a very severe setback there seems to be hope on the horizon. This is an important story to be told as there is definitely a lack of awareness of mental health issues as well as the stigma that goes along with it. I am amazed at the cultural differences in treating mental illness.

Dominic is lucky to have connected with a wonderful, thoughtful and caring psychiatrist who thinks outside the box. In Canada therapy dogs are used extensively in hospitals, long term care homes and other care facilities. There’s something about a dog that brings joy and peace to patients. Hopefully this is a start to more lasting relief for Dominic but recovery can be quite tenuous. Good to see a ray of sunshine in an otherwise gloomy and desperate life. Would be interesting to see a glimpse of how Dominic is handling everyday life.

Chapter 3 "Normal" Life

There seems to be no positive outcome for Dom. Tobi is in over his head and realistically Dom would never be discharged (at least in Canada)into his care - especially at Dominic’s level of illness. Hopefully Dominic can get into intensive therapy sooner than later otherwise I despair of him ever recovering. -
2 Resurrection and Hospital

While this seems like a major setback (and it certainly is) this may also be the beginning of the help Dominic needs, tho there’s no guarantee that the treatment will be successful. Such deep seeded thoughts are difficult to overcome but maybe with the Doc and Tobi on his side Dominic may achieve some peace. -
Not sure how to respond to this out of control spiral into utter despair. Surely there must be some redemption for a soul that has known only torture and abuse through no fault of his own.

Hopefully the life lessons Collin taught them will help them cope with the devastating and unexpected loss. Brian struggles with his own grief. I’m glad he didn’t offer the boys some trite useless religious consolation. How will his relationship with the boys evolve? Interesting days ahead for them all.
