  1. Can you imagine the real Liebe cuddled between her fathers while Owen spins all these environmental yarns? Brain washing at its best. I'm going to keep these going for as long as I can. Thanks, Parker. ps isn't 30 the new 21? LOL
  2. Your dad shared a birthday with my niece. She celebrates 26 today. You would have loved my initial draft which referenced a blackboard. LOL So sue me for not having been in a classroom in years. Had I kept the blackboard, it and the TV would have been excused due to location. Schools in the Florida Keys tend to be smaller and a little slower to pick up technological advances. Oh well, I hope there's at least a classroom or two left with TVs. LOL
  3. Posting one of these stories every year is my way of observing Earth Day. I hope they help.
  4. Since we've made a mess of things, my hope's the next few generations will do better. We teach children the difference between right and wrong from an early age, we should include good and bad environmental practices in our lessons.
  5. Thanks, Jose. Because of her age, I couldn't have the kid scuba diving, so this was my solution. Glad it worked.
  6. My niece will inherit the rights to the stories.
  7. Thanks, Chris!
  8. Yeah, well, these stories won't be part of the curriculum in way too many schools, and definitely not in Florida ones. Liebe has two dads. I'm not sure where I stand on coral jewelry. I have a couple of rough coral pieces at home, but I found those washed ashore. The danger, the same as with ivory, is that unscrupulous individuals will not restrict their harvesting to dead, broken coral. I actually outlined a scene I didn't write for CDMX which had Owen lecturing CJ on coral and turtle shell jewelry and trinkets while on a diving trip to Belize. I do know black coral is rare in Mexican waters and found only in deeper waters.
  9. Do you remember the first one? The late 60s-early 80s saw environmental awareness soar. Unfortunately, we haven't done enough and our little blue ball is in danger.
  10. I tried a different approach with this one. The previous three I showed Liebe doing stuff, and I wanted to try something else. I think it worked having her tells us about the reefs.
  11. “Good afternoon.” Liebe, standing in front of her classroom, pointed at the blond man sitting on the desk by her side. “This is my dad. His name’s Taggart, but everyone calls him Tag. He’s going to help me with the picture show.” Tag was not the only parent in the room. He waved at those he knew and at all the children, before tapping a key on his laptop, and making the television in the corner of the room come alive. The image displayed was of a colorful underwater scene with Coral Castles
  12. Liebe, a young girl living in the Florida Keys with her two fathers, spends a lot of time outdoors, interacting with nature. For her science class project, Liebe makes a presentation about coral reefs, the dangers they face, and what can be done to save them.
  13. Thanks, Parker. Fred's one of the cadets I'd like to bring back in the future. I particularly like he's not wealthy and appreciates generosity. Too many others might take Ritch and his wealth for granted and expect something while he's simply grateful. He's one of those with goals who'll work toward achieving what he wants.
  14. @Canuk This is the chapter I referenced when you didn't like CJ and Owen making a contribution to Penn State because of the guy they'd met at Jungle Gym in Tulum. The fact they benefitted from their contribution was why I mentioned you might not like the results of their generosity.
  15. As Liebe, and eventually her brothers, grow older, the cussing will evolve. CJ has a filthy mouth and he won't be able to clean up entirely.
  16. There's tons of material online. Of course, I have to condense everything to fit my story, and Google can help fill in the gaps.
  17. Thanks, Tony. Just another year. Do what I did, google the pyramid and watch it on screen. LOL
  18. You and me both!
  19. Yeah, I've been slacking off in that department. To be honest, I wouldn't know what to share. There are so many choices. At the time I was writing this, a cable channel (can't recall if it was Discovery, Smithsonian, or NatGeo) ran a bunch of shows on Chichen Itza and other Mayan Ruins in the Yucatan. I overdosed on them. YouTube does have some clips of people walking around narrating the experience. I took bits and pieces of everything I read or watched to come up with the chapter. I wanted the new material to be interesting enough to balance the recycled portions. I faced a similar challenge with the chapter about the Oscars.
  20. You made my day! I always enjoy it when what I write elicits fond memories, and I love the fact what I wrote tracks fairly well with real life experiences. Thanks, Mags
  21. Thanks, Tor.
  22. They haven't left Mexico! Yet. I'm sending them to the US in the next chapter.
  23. Thanks! After trading comments with you, I decided it should be a CJ chapter since I'm not sure if or when we'll reach the next milestone. I think I'll post at least another fifteen chapters after the remaining 8 of CDMX.
  24. Thanks, Butcher. I think CJ suffering from separation anxiety will be a thing in the future. And the funny thing's he'll be the one traveling and missing her, while she stays at home and enjoys being spoiled by her other father and grandfathers.
  25. Thank you! I've never seen it in person and doubt I ever will, but the research was interesting. Liebe has her fathers, particularly CJ, wrapped around her little finger already. She's going to be a pain in her fathers' butts,
