On Monday, CJ arrived at the embassy a little earlier than usual. He wanted to prepare the contact report for the previous day and get his meeting with Jimmy Chen over with before Stephen Northman could complain too much. His luck faltered. He had just completed the paperwork, and sent Northman a message explaining he had a meeting first thing in the morning, when the man once again surprised him with a stealthy approach. “What’s the meeting about, Mr. Abelló?” Northman stood at the entran

Grammar Guide 1 - Back to Basics - Nouns
Carlos Hazday commented on Myr's blog entry in Writing World
Since Spanish's my first language it still has influence on me. I sometimes write sentences with a weird structure because that was how I originally learned. Spanish grammar rules tend to be simpler and more consistent. Funny thing is though I'm fluent in both, I'm more comfortable speaking English.- 28 comments

@kbois At least you have a good base. I went to school in Spanish through 9th grade. The differences are significant.- 28 comments

Grammar Guide 1 - Back to Basics - Nouns

Been there... Cia destroyed my comma use when she proofed one of my early stories. I was left scarred for life. Honestly, I deserved the harsh lesson and have hopefully improved. Having a more experienced author edit my stuff for about one million words helped. Thanks, Mann. There's hope for most of us.- 28 comments

As with Pam in Ripper Christmas, you think too fast for my writing. BTW, check out AC's latest story/poem. You may recognize the theme as similar to one permeating this story.

You did object to his initial approach to Austin... let's see who the jarhead picks.

gust - Word of the Day - Tue Jan 4, 2021
Carlos Hazday commented on Myr's blog entry in Writing World
I wonder if the word derives from the same root as gustoso in Spanish and gostoso in Portuguese... -
But, what about Calum? I mean... Obviously, Lincoln shows up again in future stories, but you'll be happy to know Austin's now in the outline for at least one or two scenes.

LMAO - I can't recall the details either, but that comment, whenever and wherever you made it, stuck with me. I hope you read the last section of this chapter to see how it was influenced by that memory. Romance? Where?

Just wait until they return to Washington. CJ and Owen will do a couple of photo-shoots and end up with oodles and oodles of free clothing. CJ sticks to Tom Ford suits while Owen shows a preference for Brioni. Too much of a spoiler?

I think your invitation was lost in the mail. CJ turned 24 last December, the party was in Vail, and it sounds like they had fun. I was unable to make it, but I just got the reports and I'm writing them down now. I'll share them in an upcoming chapter or three...

Part of what I wrote today... -
Fine, from motorcycle leathers to black tie. But I think some of those t-shirts stuck in the back of the closet qualify as rags.
-
Gee, can't you wait a couple of chapters for CJ's birthday party?
-
You need more space? Let me see what I can do. Make sure you check in after the next chapter. It may include a reference to disposal of bodies in Mexico City.
-
The Dark Web~! You don't wanna go there. Jimmy Chen tracks visitors and people have been known to disappear without a trace after downloading CJ pictures.

@Anton_Cloche Wow! I get a research assistant? LOL One detail in that description's probably wrong. As far as I know, Georgetown (the area and school) sit on solid rock and are not part of filling in swamps. Although most of what is DC these days was wetlands at one point, when the capital was established its borders included two towns that had been in existence for years. Alexandria and Georgetown were ports through which cotton and tobacco traveled. Otherwise, it makes sense.
-
@Anton_Cloche I meant that if Alex Rider, a teenager, can become a spy, CJ can probably do it too. Owen may have to stick a foot up CJ's butt to stop him, but the possibility's there. Are those merit badges for spies the same as Boy Scout ones?
