The Academy's about 70% male and 30% female. Total enrollment around 4000 cadets. I'm certain there's fooling around. As for Ritch stepping out, I doubt it. I dislike stories where everyone ends up being gay. They're straight and married one minute and the next they're in love with a guy. Gimmie a break. I'm still amazed the spinoffs have mostly focused on the straight characters, and I want to keep them that way. Ritch admitted a long time ago he looked at gay porn when he found out about CJ and it did nothing for him. Although a gay cadet or two may cross his path in this story.

GLBT individuals can serve in the armed forces, so I'm sure there'll be some at the Academy. However, based on all the cadet pictures I've seen, most of them look like little kids. A couple of the football players appear interesting.

Covid screwed up my travel plans last year. As soon as I'm able to, I'd love to visit the Academy. I explore its architecture when CJ visits, but unfortunately none of the details are based on personal observation. But I plan to be there when Ritch gets married in the chapel.

Aside from looking at pictures for inspiration, YouTube videos of cadets covered in mud were part of my research. I was ready to volunteer, but they don't take senior citizens.

He's gonna be marching his way out of that shadow. Every single day before lunch. You helped make today's post possible so you get lots of credit.

Thanks!!!! Now I have to live up to expectations. Lol

I better not screw this shit up. There will be promotions... lets see how far our boy can go.

More you shall have next Friday. And you're not allowed to complain about chapter length, Mann already did when he realized the first half dozen were all over 6k words. For those who take it seriously, particularly if on the path to becoming officers, the military is a much different experience than how us civilians see it. Ritch benefits from his father, Brett, and even Brad, having served. The changes in his life will be large, but I have faith he can handle them.

Wholeheartedly agree, Dave. Hunky and wealthy! And he's going to be stuck on base most of the time, surrounded mostly by men. He'll have to get his jollies while on leave!

The dads are protective. And this is a new experience for them, their other son went to school a block away from home! There will be a bunch of new characters (I can't help myself. Just like DeMille) but there 'll be regular appearances by favorites from previous stories. This chapter was heavy with them.

Thank you. It was not unexpected. Let's hope there are fewer deaths in 2020, I've had my fill. Ritch may have thought about killing a couple of his fellow cadets at time, but I'm pretty sure I walked him off the edge.

Can you believe it's an Air Force story, and I started with a road trip? It was too tempting not to show him taking Defiant out west. And of course, I had to weave in references to the BLM march, since the timing was right. I don't think any aircraft was hurt during the writing of the story.

Happy 2021 to you! Thanks for the praise. Let's hope I don't bore you, and you stick with the story for the next few months. LOL

Thanks again, Chris. His real training, and that of his fellow incoming cadets, will start next chapter. Coincidentally, it's titled "Basic Cadet Training" Original, I know.

Wait no more, sir. I'm back. And let me tell you, I've been itching to get this one out. I enjoyed writing Ritch and watching him grow while at the Academy. Spoiler- He'll make a great officer.

Thanks, Wes. I'm glad I can help kick off 2021 with a good surprise. Better than the crap 2020 dished out. Between a murderous virus and murderous cops, I was ready to kill someone myself. (Big orange blob.) If you take a look at the story banner, you'll notice I used a picture of the iconic chapel. Because it's currently surrounded by scaffolding, and construction won't be finished for four years, I don't actually describe it until CJ visits Ritch in early 2024. You were in ROTC? I didn't know that.

Thank you. It was tough because the pandemic kept us apart at the end. I still think Ritchie at times, and I've been planning the name change for a couple of years! Obviously, some family members will get used to it faster than others. LOL There may or may not be a little skirt-chasing in future chapters.

Thank you, Chris. And a Happy New Year to you too. Couldn't break the streak no matter how hard 2020 tried to mess up my scheduling. It's a fresh start so may as well kick it off with a new story.

“You gonna read the whole thing?” Ritch glanced right as the man in the passenger seat swiped his finger across the tablet’s screen. They had left Washington, D.C. at sunrise and were close to an hour into the initial 700-mile segment of their westbound trip. Ritch had barely slept the night before, repeatedly awakening due to the bittersweet anticipation of leaving home. “Yeah… I’ve seen the sights before. Remember I made this trip with your brother a few years ago? Plus, I want to know wha

Richard Leonard Peterson wanted to fly for as long as he could recall. His father, an Air Force pilot, was the inspiration. When his parents died in a boating accident, Ritch moved to Washington, D.C. to live with his brother and his brother’s fathers. A month before turning eighteen, he becomes a cadet at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. If he can safely navigate the subsequent four years, he will be commissioned as an Air Force Second Lieutenant upon graduation .

As I've repeatedly told Parker, Senior would benefit from a whooping. Seeing what he puts his son through makes my blood boil. Parenticide would be totally justified in my book. Let's hope he suffers

Not everyone is or should be redeemed. I do not believe every human is simply misguided. Some people deserve a trashing. Whatever happened to him he brought on himself.
