    First Snow

The air changes, flecks of ice decorate the ground. It's the season's first snowfall.
  2. I can't believe this got published. Thank guys for reading what I write, I know I'm definitely not the most diligent writer. GA's been a great community for me so far, and I barely joined 3 months ago. I've already met some brilliant people who've helped me grow a lot more than I expected to! Thanks!
  3. Thanks for the review. I feel like we are constantly looking for people who fix us, who smooth out our rough edges. But then they turn out not to be "the one" and they leave us worse for wear: more frayed. I'm glad you enjoyed the dialogue and the story.
  4. Thank you! I'm glad the emotions came across as intended Thank you for the review!
  5. Thanks NLY! I think he really needs one too.

    The Babysitter

i like this kid and i don't say that often. great story
  8. Thank you for the review! For me, names are clumsy and exclusive. They're hard and inflexible. When do you start using someone's name? I find myself struggling to use other people's names when I'm just getting to know them. It's almost as if I don't feel like I have the authority to use it. For who am I to them? And cliched yet true, timing is everything. We're bound to the world by this temporal dimension. Time is in everything and nothing is timeless. Sure, the conversation might not have been most appropriate at this time. But at what time would it have been? Isn't the decision to act based on the conflicting poles of the fear of acting and the fear of not acting? Dialogue is not my best set of skills, I'll admit. but sometimes no amount of rephrasing/paraphrasing can offset this necessity. Thank you for the insightful review I'm really glad you could relate to it.
  9. Thank you for the review! There are so many uncertainties in feelings. Especially in the beginning, when you're unsure if the seeds will make it through the harsh winter, to settle quietly in the spring soil. It's always going to be hard. For now, it's complete. Perhaps I'll return to it. But I'm glad you enjoyed it.
  10. thank you stephen it has to be one of the greatest compliments you can give to a writer when you empathise with their characters. Glad you enjoyed it.
  11. Thanks for the review! It's true, there are moments for all of us... when we are so insecure... And with the guy, if only we could understand what was going on inside guys' heads, all the problems in the world would be solved. Thanks for the review again!!!

  14. The space between us closed, thigh against thigh. The heat of his skin seeped through the fabric separating us. My eyes darted up to look at him: his eyes flickering from the screen in front of us to the book splayed in his lap, eyelashes brushing against his eyelids tenderly. His eyes caught mine as I deflected my gaze. “What?” he asked. “Nothing,” I murmured, turning my attention back to the screen. Shoulders rubbed against each other, a futile attempt to get closer. He huffed. His touch d
  15. I thought there was more to it, I was hoping there was.
  16. So there’s a boy I miss. He used to brighten up my day by listening to my common ramblings. He would narrate his day where the mundane details captivated my attention. Many a times, I imagined him with his arms around me as the cold night air charged against me. Too many nights, I fell asleep to the fantasy of his body pressed against mine. Too many hours I spent in the day, drifting off, to the idea of his lips against mine. When he spoke, his voice would resonate with my heartstrings, a tremo
  17. A garden: uninhabited. A child: lost. Where are you? I lay on the damp grass, sloping downwards, a comforting spot. As my back pressed against the earth, I looked to the stars, tracing the outlines of gods that watched us. Where is he? I turned my question to them. The brisk air brushed against me. Traffic pulsed deeply in the background: a bustling life of lights. Warm vanilla teased my taste buds as the fluid trickled slowly down my throat, filling the cold void inside me momentarily. Wh
  18. 12:14pm here right now. Should be studying, but my caffeine buzz is wearing off. And last night is catching up with me.
  19. The streams converged and diverged on the expanse of skin that trailed down my abdomen. Steam rose as the heat cooled against the invisible surface: a fog that blurred the lines of tiles arranged edges against edges. Rivulets ran down my back: heat clinging to the cliffs of my shoulder blades, warmth sliding against the curve of my lumbar, coolness catching on the strands protruding from my calves. My fingers pulled back the drenched curtains that plastered against my eyes, grasping at some for
  20. Heat throbbed against my skin, tingling against the cool air. A flutter of leaves sounded as the wind stroked the fleeing strands of my hair. My toes curled against the rough protrusions, clinging to them, devoting themselves to the reliability of friction. The air enveloped me in a cool embrace, calming the uneasy heat pulsing through my veins. Droplets of perspiration clung futilely to my temples, losing the fight against gravity: falling, silently. I held fast, rooted in my stance, firm aga

  25. You lead me through the rows of saplings, bending over once in a while, to tend to one: showering its thirsty roots in your seemingly endless supply of affection. A knife twisted in my gut, and guilt coated the walls of my stomach: how could I be so jealous of such compassion? You turned your head and saw me watching you. You flashed that smile, eradicating the shadows that loomed over me. Standing up straight, you brushed your hands against the sides of your pants, before offering me one. I to
