Got a call today. After 1 year and a half I finally have a date for sleep exams. But contrary to what the pneumologist had told me it won't be just for a day, nah... I'll be hospitalized for 4 whole days! I managed to have it done during February break. I have to go there 10 days before to have a sleep tracker watch install.

Hey Pagey thanks for checking on me. I'm around but I'm not doing great, I'm having a hard time at work because of a family... In December the family pretty much asked me to justify myself on the fact there was not a lot of exercices in the copy book. It was 10 days before the holidays so I explained that we were not studying new thing cause it was tests week. Add to that the fact we had swimming lessons every Mondays and Tuesdays afternoon which take a lot of time in our schedule but that I had anticipated so we were keeping up with the programm, not to worries. I also explained that we don't do everything on the copy book, we also work orally or in the draft book or the kids also used their individual white board. The family was not satisfied cause they don't see enough writing proofs of what we do in class. Now Monday I had a written note from the same family asking for a meeting to talked about the same matter and that in the meantime their daughter would not be using her whiteboard anymore but write on paper what we do orally or on the whiteboards to take home... I felt judge, accused. So yeah not much sleep the past weeks. It's been eating at me. And Thursday the student told me it would be her dad at the meeting and that he would come right after work so he would still be in his uniform. He's a "gendarme" (it's law enforcement but attached to the military)... On the bright side my colleagues are all supporting me, the headmaster will be with me at the meeting to support me at tell them they dont have to interfere like this on how I teach, some colleagues even said that if she couldn't be there that they would come with me. It's been a tough week cause I have feel judged, I've questionnes everything I do (despite everyone telling me what I do is good, I also have two people higher up visiting me regularly to observe how I teach and both only have positive feedback), felt like the student was an undercover agent who will report to her parents everything I do or say in class (she took notes of everything I explained or wrote/draw on the board) and it would be analyze against me.

Things my students said today: This morning I had a little group of students by my desk as I was revising their writing, making comments on what to twist to improve it when my phone ring (it was fave up on the desk right beside me) with an unknown number. Student: "oh maybe that's my dad!" Dude why would your dad call me, your teacher, on my personal phone?! When he realized what he said he was all "yeah nah that would be weird." Yup. Then this afternoon because of the storm we didn't go out to recess, we stayed in the classroom but we still went down to the bathroom. As I was starting to go down the stairs I hear 2 of my students, both 10yo boys, from the top of the stairs: Student 1' "Here hold me" Student 2; goes behind student 1 and hold him at the waist from behind "oh I'm the kind of the world!" Yup they were reenacting the scene from titanic They're so innocently funny and adorable. They're not afraid to hold hands instead of pulling/grabbing each other, saying out loud how they love each other deeply as friends. For a group of 5th graders I love the class climate there is. Sure I worked on it with them from day 1 but it's also coming from them. There's no toxic masculinity, derogatory/slur words used as "teasing" or joking like with most teenagers unfortunately. So yeah I cherish that, it's a little victory that make my heart happy as a teacher but also as an adult watching the next generation.

Because of the storm we had to do both .or ing and afternoon recess in the classroom... It was a very long day
