Thanks B *sweaty hug* I'm right at the border with the red one (just above Paris)... 🫠 I had 16 kids out of 22 this morning (they had the Cambridge test), 3 stayed for lunch and they all went home this afternoon. My 1st grader colleague has 16 kids this afternoon! it was already 30°C at 9am in the classroom... Despite not having students I have to stay on site (assurance and regulations blablabla) though my headteacher said I could go home if I wanted to but I'm staying and taking to opportunity to do the grades reports

My diabolical reverse psychology plan is working I send a nice reminder online to my students parents about tomorrow morning Cambridge pre A1 starters test but also add that as the city has decided not to close the school I'll be there but they are free and actually invited to keep their kids home Monday and Tuesday because of the heat, that attendance won't been checked and we won't do really school work and they can't even bring board games. 4 have already answered their kid will be there Monday morning for the Cambridge test but won't be attending Monday afternoon and Tuesday all day 😏 Next step tomorrow morning: make no effort to cool the classroom (impossible anyway) so that those who are still undecided will be push not to come back

Forecast is for 38°C Monday and Tuesday (no insulation so it'll be the same in the classrooms) 🥵 The city still refused to close the schools (we're the only one around not to close at least the afternoons) but yet tell the families to keep their kids home if they can/want to... Thing is the 5th graders have the Cambridge test Monday morning and the city pays for it so they can't cancelled it... And us teachers we'll have to come to work in those conditions without even a fan but hey someone is coming in the middle of the night to open our windows 🤡

Come get some of the heat back please! Forecast for the next 5 days is 35-37°C! 😬 so it'll be something like over 40 in the classrooms. The minister of education said today that if necessary school could close Monday and Tuesday all day or just on the afternoons. Problem is, unless there's a direct order from the ministry asking to close the school, the decision is mqde by the mayor. Our refuse to close (we only have 1 tree in the play ground and nothing to refresh in the classroom)

Today was our 5th graders bike day. We hadn't even left our own school that one of my students faint... She hadn't had breakfast. Unfortunately I couldn't take the risk of her fainting again during the day especially while on the road. While I was taking care of her and sending her to a colleague the group left. On my way to the meeting site my chain jumped (my bike weight a dead cow and has some kind of guard in front of the chain so it was a pain). When I was finally reunited with my students I was told one of them was sick and had puke... I had to called his dad and send him home. But the rest of the day went smoothly We rode to another school downtown with a park beside it (with a great view of the racecourse) and all day the kids had different activities about bicycle (how to put your chain back after it jumped, how to change gears when going up a hill, how to repair the inner tube, road signs, blonds spots with a pin truck, and a circuit. Despite the heat (33°c) it was very nice cause all activities were in the shades, we had access to the school toilets and sinks for endless water and there was a sprinkler.
