I just have to say I love writing about this town. It's moments like this, where I turn around and a whole chapter of amusement and glee just appears out of nowhere... just because two books ago I wrote a throw away line about someone's job. I do, highly, recommend giving something like this a try if you ever write, it's highly rewarding.

So I've been writing out a scene as Lydia is combating the Merrick family in the country records office. Wrote a whole chapter out of complex Municipal jujitsu... form 14a sub c.... vs form 19a .... and I wrote this lovely records clerk named Janice... gave her her own little back story and a cat... And then I remembered... who... is the actual records clerk of Merrickville. I now have to... extensively rewrite Aunt Jenny in to the chapter... the Merrick's are doomed.

Just remember, Lydia's Dad is Clovis. And Clovis won't take kindly to a monster that close to his family. just saying, I am *still* Toying with the idea of Merrickville old boys dealing with it because it's what they do to these type of "untouchable" monsters.

Yeah I wrote off for a quote on one, and the guy was really polite and gave me a figure of between 75 and 150 K so yeah it's not going to be cheap, it's one hell of a job and will keep Finn busy quite a while.

So someone asked how Andrew is just accepted as an officer by those that know who he really is. Canada has a combined ranking system. Meaning all Officers from the military branches, Security services and police forces hold Commissions. Should a crisis arise, who is in charge is known off of this system. As Director General of CSIS Andrew is the highest ranking "Officer" on the Rock. As such, by default, he is commander of the Free Canada forces. The rank he is using is a cover identity supported by the Royal Navy (Who firmly consider Andrew one of their own after Breach), the acting Commodore title is to reaffirm this authority. Since both the Royal Navy and the Royal Canadian Navy attain their authority from King Charles III, it is the King, ultimately, who grants the Commissions. Ergo, Andrew is in Command and a Commodore. Hope that clears it up, least for the book purposes.

I've been asked why only one priest, and why different denominations. Specifically why Father Fitzpatrick (Original books) and now Pastor Jensen (Newer works) are not of the same denomination (Catholic of Baptist) Um to explain Ecumenism of Necessity While theologians in cities debate doctrine, in these remote communities, Christians live out a practical ecumenism. The driving force is not theological agreement but shared Christian love for the community and a commitment to keep the witness of the church alive. The shared minister's primary identity often becomes "the Christian minister for this place" more than "a minister of that denomination." In essence, you are absolutely correct. It is a vital and humble form of ministry that prioritizes presence, pastoral care, and communal worship over doctrinal purity, ensuring the light of the church isn't extinguished in isolated places. It's not a focus of my books, religion plays a small part. I think only Jason and Andrew are ever explicit about their faiths. But I keep it there to show that in a community as small as this one is, that there is a role there. Please do not think I am lecturing on it or anything. Just, merely pointing out that it exists and there is room in it. Also remember, again, that Canadian Baptists performed the first gay marriages in Canada long before it was legal. Will and Andrew, for example, were married by a Baptist Minister, it is just a part of Canadian history.
