    Chapter 12

This was a good one to write, I remember. The focus was mainly on James, again a strong fan favourite and someone I really enjoyed writing. I just wanted to avoid a Mary-sue situation with him. So I thought long and hard on it, and realized I needed to show that James does what he does because he trains, un relenting unforgiving and quite punishing amounts of it. And in so doing it humanized him. He's Darien's quiet, and unassuming shadow, the one who protects and projects Darien's will now that Darien can no longer do it himself. That, and we all love the scruffy loyal boys.
  2. Lex Talionis - Yeji-Sola System They were running, the small Polian Gunship pushing its engines to maximum as it dipped and weaved its way through the system, its crew desperate to get their precious cargo to Sanctuary where the Synod had retreated to. Their Far-Step Hyperdrive was nearly fully charged and would be able to catapult them the vast distance, all they had to do was evade their pursuer long enough... The floating ice particles shivered and shattered, carved to piec

    Chapter 13

The paparazzi here in England are like wolves. They pay hosptial workers for good tips, and something like a High Commissioner's son going in under an emergency situation would be blood in the water to them. Then add to that the rather high profile Motorcade, and they will be all over it in a frenzy, these photographs fetch high prices in the British Tabloids... the same Tabloids that use illegal wire taps, chased Diana to her death in Paris, and destroy lives of anyone they think their readers want to know about. Give them a slow enough news day, and they'd be desperate to feast on suffering like this. I despise the Tabloids for this.

    Chapter 7

Well, to be honest, I didn't think it needed to be said. It was the Very first book I ever wrote, over twenty years ago.

    Chapter 13

Very emotional to write, TBH. I've been there, through exactly this kind of situation. Nothing is more terrifying for a person, it reduces even the most stalwart among us, to panic. There was a scene I wrote for the next chapter of Andrew's reaction directly. It is Visceral but simply doesn't fit with the narrative and flow of the book so I can't include it, but having written it, I can use it to influence Andrew's movements and reactions. Will is predictable in this kind of moment, but Andrew... the only time Andrew gets truly volatile is when someone or something threatens his family. This is, all, of course set up for later.

    This was set in 1998
  8. Portland Hospital, London, United Kingdom The quiet efficiency of The Portland Hospital's Urgent Care Centre was a stark contrast to the frantic energy of the school playground. Corporal Davies, moving with a controlled urgency that masked her deep concern, had delivered Jacob directly to the triage desk. He was a small, pale bundle in her arms, now whimpering softly, clutching his stomach. His head lolled against her shoulder, eyes half-closed. Within moments, Jacob was whisked into a
  9. nah, that boys a Poke-e-kid if ever there was one. Skylar's the spongebob boy, my own kid lectured me at length back in the day about the all so important difference and social standings of the all so important cartoon wars. I still remember the look of utter disgust on his face when I got it wrong and tried to buy him the wrong cartoon gear. ooooh there it is, he was bought Poke-gear instead of Bob merch he really wanted, or visa versa... awww man, my kids all grown up now and I am going to look like a total moron if I have to call him and ask which was which.
  10. I get Golden Retriever vibes from Ryan, so we know he's smart, just developed bad skills. That usually indicates, (the grade being held back) something outside of his control held him back, illness, injury, or death in the family. A tragic backstory is tight, super easy, and barely an inconvenience. Let me guess, he secretly needed glasses and couldn't see clearly enough to see the difference between a + and - in those damn horrible cheap text books we were forced to use, with the damn too tiny text.
  11. Those are killer, I have one I have to post tomorrow that is like that. Just raw emotion on a page that you just know is going to hit like an atom bomb. When you know what you have to do, you have to take your chance. (that's what my watch is engraved with for those that know what I mean) speaking of which, Skyler's a junior right, so that makes him 16-17 right? I am never sure, my high school never had a junior year, we just had Freshmeat I mean men, Softcore... sophmore, and seniors.
  12. I hate that, those chapters that are good, sometimes great, but just simply do not work in the framework of what you are doing or the story you are telling. You hit it with a hammer trying to jam the damn thing into the hole, but all you're doing is making an utter mess. I have folders of discarded plot points, scenes, etc. I keep it, because you never know when I might need to pull out some random moment that is suddenly perfect for the here and now.

    Chapter 12

Today I got to do something I have wanted to do for a long long time, write the car-snow scene from Carter's Army, but from Andrew's perspective. And it was fascinating. If any of you writers get a chance, flip the script at least once on your favourite pairing. It's a truly enriching experience.
  15. I met the King of an entire country, one night, in a gay bar. Not going to say which king or which country. But yeah, truth is WAY less believable than fiction. Can still say I bought a King a drink.
  16. Man, that thing had NO back seat, we had to get very inventive.... and the thing smelled like a French Canadian swimming pool filled with desperation, and caked in body spray and empty promises. But I wouldn't trade those memories... could have done with out the eye infection from those wet speedos tho.
  17. HMS Prometheus Unbound - Adehraog System - Amsus Hegemony It had been a delicate manoeuvre considering that the Raptor had no functional manoeuvring systems, but they had managed to get the Raptor docked to one of the Osterburg Hunter Killers, rather ominously named Prometheus Unbound. Squadron Leader Katz sat, bored, in the small mess hall, his back to the large forward windows that looked out over the stars. Turning the small thermal mug in his hands, he reflected on how bad it taste
  18. FYI Steve drove a Celica, since you know, there are tropes.
  19. Why is it ALWAYS the swim team... Mine looked like Edward Furlong, abs that you could climb like a rock wall, one wink, and you're forever lost. Ahh man I wish I could remember his name... I remember every other sticky, messy, frantic, and very passionate .... STEVE oh man, Steve see I do remember his name. I was fourteen when I met him, a little bit older when we were.... What's the opposite of dating but filled with infinitely more *ahem* sec-ed practical examinations. Steve's, the world needs more Steves.
  20. I am going to read EVERY word, I promise, I am just struggling with putting Andrew on a Helicopter (torturing the poor man further for literary art) So once I am done that chapter, I am all over this. (We all know I am going to cave, finish the scene and dive into this with a snorkle, a pair of floatation wings, and one of those pool noodles.)
  21. Chapter Twelve Canada House, Trafalgar Square, United Kingdom Will, seated behind his massive, uncluttered desk, held a secure phone to his ear, his gaze fixed on the middle distance. Across from him, in a chair angled slightly to the side, sat Lisa, acting as the ever diligent Chief of Staff. Her auburn hair, pulled back into a sleek, professional bun, tugging at her elfin features and keen, intelligent eyes, which darted between Will's expression and the pad of paper where her pen mo
  22. I imagine my NSA file is rapidly being updated about stealing nuclear weapons, spying for Mexico, and what the Queen likes for breakfast... man... they have to be preparing something fun for me somewhere nice, dark, and water-board-ish... I wonder if Gator Alcatraz will let me bring bug spray.
  23. Saint Gabriel, patron saint of Gayboys who kick major butt. Also died on my Birthday, so yeah natural fit for me.

    Chapter 10

One a day till all the books are done.
  25. Unknown Location, Unknown System, Unknown Territory Darien woke up alone, the cold chill still brisk in the air as he sat up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes, feeling his stiff muscles and raw nerves protest. He did his best to ignore them, moving slowly to pull the pile of clothes over to him as he slipped on his shirt, listening to the crack of thunder somewhere in the distance. Dressed, he shuffled across to the door, each step slow and deliberate, his head reeling. Catching himself
