This is the reason his Grandfather LOATHES him. The Grandson that should have been a daughter. Arslan (in the book) is a vile creature and the things he does to his grandchildren to ensure his continued rule is... horrific. Ishan however, defies his grandfather's expectations. Much to his brother's rage.

Ishan is described as delicate, effeminate, tall and thin... I think in a later book he is described to be built like a weasel, long and thin and dangerous. But again, fair. Too fair for war.
