    Snow Days

Colorado Rocky Mountains offer some awesome winters. In fact, winters are my favorite season. My first winter we had 180 inches of snow fall. The attached photo was taken in the late afternoon of the first day of a 3 day storm -- on the third day we had over 5 feet of snow on the ground. We don't really have school snow days but we do have ski days!!
  3. Ubuntu has turned into a VERY mature product family with an excellent forum: http://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=130 My greatest attraction to Linux has been the cost: you just can't beat FREE!! My only 'out of pocket' cost was the MoneyDance software and at $40 bucks - it's still a bargain. Top 10 distribution distros: http://distrowatch.com/dwres.php?resource=major (ubuntu is in first place)
  4. My 2 cents on Linux -- When Vista hit the streets I went looking into Linux and ended up installing Ubuntu 8.04 on my desktop unit and fell in love with it. Then installed it on my laptop. Have since updated both systems to 8.10 and added Kubuntu (KDE4.1)to my laptop. I still have XP on both system using it only to run Quicken. Last week I at last found "moneydance" which I have already moved my finances to. So at this point I am 100% Linux and have given Bill Gates the well used finger!! Both Ubuntu and Kubuntu are awesome OS's but Kubuntu is my Fav!!!

  6. AWESOME PHOTO!!!!!!! And I agree, that was a great interview with CJ --- I am in awe of his life style
  7. I mentioned Linux in a thread last month my growing interest in that OS. Ubuntu Hardy Heron was in the final stages of development with a beta 5 which I had installed on my laptop. Hardy was VERY IMPRESSIVE from the get go. Much like windows so it was comfortable right out of the gate. Ubuntu 8.04 was released last week and I fell in love with it. It has replaced XP on my laptop and am doing a clean up on my desk top as I am writing this. Ubuntu will be installed on it later today. I can't even begin to express my pleasure with Ubuntu. Much faster than XP - cleaner desktop, configurable (customized) in a few hours (instead of days with XP) with everything being handled from a 1/4 inch band at the top of the screen with drop downs for applications/places/system and room for small icons (1/4" x 1/4") for favorite programs. No more digging through endless windows buried behind more endless windows and then duplicated a half dozen times!! Firefox 3.0 beta is included in the package. On top of all that great stuff is an awesome tech support forum with real people that know what they are doing! Just really awesome!!! Have a look see here http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/hardy/alpha5 -- Download the live CD from their website here http://www.ubuntu.com/ You can boot from the CD (you need to burn the download to a CD) no changes are made to the harddrive but it is a full functioning drive through disk. (edit) The same CD will also serve as the install media. Do yourself a favor and give it a try -- I'm 99% sure you will love it!!!!!!
  8. If you're at this stage you really need to take a look at this:: http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/hardy/alpha5 you can download a FREE Live CD of the OS boot from the CD load the program and, without it ever touching your hard drive, give it a test drive. It is Linux - but I have been checking out the different blends and really love this beta (one of 5 or so versions) of the ubuntu product line. I downloaded this beta the other day and did a flawless install on my XP system. To my astonishment, it picked up all my windows drives, including my external drives. I can't launch any programs but do have access to all files (jpg, mpg, avi, doc, etc) A major plus!!! I love the feel of ubuntu - like windows and much easier to configure. The Xubuntu has an 'XP clone' feeling. The Beta 5 even comes with the new Foxfire 3.0 which hasn't even been released yet! I have been looking for a good replacement for Windows. I'm not happy with the direction MS has been heading. Linux is the answer for me. Another plus is that it is ALL FREE! EDIT: An interesting install option is to embed within Windows -- want to try that!!
  9. Our members have made a total of 78,240 posts We have 4,209 registered members The newest member is tamaraicia2 Most users ever online was 449 on June 27 2007, 01:12 AM Was looking at the above just now and came to a complete stop when I saw the time stamp for "most on line". Seems to me that would not be one of my first choices -- the 27th was a Wednesday night, after all!!!! Once again, not one of my first choices for a 1:15AM surge -- Saturday or Sunday would seem to fit better. Next question is -- In which time zone was that event recorded? Inquiring mind needs to know, don't you know --LOL
  10. As I read this topic the thought popped into my head wondering who among us is already on our 2 or third go around and how are we to know??? Dan -- You may pop in at any time with the TRUE info
  11. She'll be 6 next month but she still acts like a puppy. The ring in her mouth she got as a toy when she was 9 weeks old -- she could barely pick it up. She learned to flip it up over her head and that gets a response from me that "she's a pretty girl" and then her whole body wags. Brandy is my 6th and my last golden -- I have always had two at a time. You need to check out this website http://gottadance.landofpuregold.com/ And also this video of Rookie dancing with his owner -- This is a truly amazing performance.!!!
  12. Mark -- This was a GREAT idea! -- I can truthfully say we have a good number of HOT guys here -- but I have to say the Joe and Bird can come and live with me ANY day For better or worse, here's mine and my Golden Brandy
  13. He's making white lightening------ that would be a still
  14. Hey Bob -- We share the same birth date!! Mine just hit 70 though. Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Thanks for the reply Rob and am sorry that your stories will no longer be hosted here. Will look forward to the arrival of your new web site.
  16. "Julien has a link if you look back where he's hosted now." That assumes I know where he is hosted now. If I had known that, I wouldn't need to ask. On the other hand, I do know that he is being hosted at StoryLovers now, but that has only happened during the past week. Any reference that I could find at GA concerning Julien and where he had moved to, was in his profile and those links were listed as "not found". I know, that is something that Julien is responsible for keeping current. As for "Both Rob, Julien had notices they were leaving" I did hunt through the Forum today looking for an announcement and found none -- doesn't mean they aren't there -- only that I didn't find them. Both Rob and Julien are accomplished authors, with "Merit". I know that Rob was a hosted author and don't remember if Julien was or not. It all just seems much to dismissive to me -- Both GA, Rob and Julien are above that. Yesterday they were good enough and today they aren't -- Just doesn't seem right to me. But then, Politics today has a new meaning. LOL I know, I really should be talking to Myr about this directly -- Maybe he will come in with a comment or two. Inquiring minds, don't ya know
  17. Today I was trying to find Replay by Rob Hawes -- couldn't find a trace. Looked like the CIA had done a sweep with their disappearing wand. A few weeks ago I was looking for Julien Gregg -- same thing. Just gone! I don't remember seeing anything mentioned about them leaving. Is it SOP at GA to NOT announce these happenings? If so why? Seems to me at least a mention that they are no longer being Hosted would be nice and maybe where their stories might be found. Just disappearing makes it look like there must have been a nasty cat fight or some such thing. Just wondering----

  19. Yep --- The minute I saw them I thought of you. Surly you are jesting again -- A lurker! Right--Nope, not buying into that
  20. All they need are the ever present dark glasses!! Or are those critters sheep???? Oh Jeez!!!! https://www.gayauthors.org/forums/index.php...=si&img=120
  21. I agree completely -- The Mail Crew is a good start. As for reading material I can't help but think of the Foley-Mashburn series of Tim by Brew Maxwell should be required reading. A very long story of family love and it's inner workings of a gay family complex. Tim is a masterfully beautiful gay story which should be "required reading" for all gay people. Hugs
  22. I agree Jack - i also read it daily. Another one I like is: http://rjr10036.typepad.com/proceed_at_your_own_risk/
  23. Hmmmmm -- Colorado water.........Good old Coors beer comes out of Clear Creek ( or so they say ) and into the cans. Very popular stuff. Makes a person wonder if Coors beer is turning the country GAY? Could that really be the cause of homosexuality?? :snork: OK - that was fun!!!! Need to go attack my stash of Coors!! :worship:
  24. Anybody know where he can be found these days? Last address I had was juliangregg.com but that is NOT working now. Hmmmmmmm -- 46 reads and nobody has an answer--------
