  1. I don't want to keep beating the already dead horse --- But, Ubuntu (linux) is a credible alternative to a "5 grand piece of crap". Ubuntu has the look and feel of windows, will cost you nothing and will run on most machines. MACS run on base linux code (operating system) does not need McAfee or any other antivirus software. Most addon software is also free. You can download an ISO file which needs to be burned to a disc -- reboot from that disk and you have a live install WITHOUT TOUCHING YOUR HARDDRIVE. If you don't like what you see just remove the CD and reboot -- if you like what you see and would like to try it. just hit install --- it will give you the option to install as a dual boot or replace you current operating system -- I would suggest the dual boot. Of course the obvious -- backup your current system first ---- just to be failsafe. It's only prudent!!!!! See this page for the ISO download: http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/download'>http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/download Go here to get a 'look-see' feel of Ubuntu: http://www.ubuntu.com/ ~~~ Make sure you go through the many options near the bottom of the page. I know the feelings people have about trying something new ---- been there done that. My first computer had the DOS operating system ---- so I have paid my dues through all of the Windows versions but, I would not even try the Vista series -- I had had enough of Microsoft. I have been using Ubuntu for 2 years now and am SOOOO glad I switched. You really need to take a look!!
  2. A few weeks ago I turned 2 pork shoulders into about 8 lbs each of sweet/hot Italian sausage. Those puppies will be going on the grill Sunday along with a ton of mom's great potato salad (the p salad will be straight out of the frig - not the grill) with sides of fresh tomatoes. YUM!
  3. Boy, talk about fat and sassy ~~~
  4. Thanks for the greeting Bugeye. I love the image too. Photography was my occupation so the technical aspects of the image intrigued me. It is a beautifully executed photograph as the low light level involved does not allow a shutter speed necessary to stop the nude image mid air - but there it is. I have spent a fair amount of time examining the pixels in the photo so as to say it is a photo shopped image. I can find no trace that says it is photo shopped but, the image is not possible technically. My hat is tipped to the person who created 'Jump-for joy'!! As to the presented image -- I see an 80 year old couple, sitting in the car, as it rounds the curve on the fog covered road! "HENRY!, Is that a nude boy. No Alice, that's a drunk boy."

  6. I agree ~~ that tie is grey -- those seeing pink are only getting a residual reflection from the redhead next to it (the tie).
  7. For those of you that a really into cooking and use herbs --- you might like to check out this link https://www.penzeys.com/cgi-bin/penzeys/shophome.html I buy ALL my spices from them. The difference in taste and quality is way beyond awesome. They also have stores in a good number of cities. You can go in and smell or do a touchy feely thing. The difference from the supermarket and Penzeys products is breath taking. REALLY!!!
  8. Oh man -- two of my favorites. Love battered deep fried calamari and have had awesome escargot - garlic, butter, white wine and shallots au gratin. Both are better when ordered at 'up scale' restaurants. But I am willing to try most anything at least once -- I tend to be adventurous where food is involved. It really is amazing how awesome some of the "ick-factor type foods" can be when prepared properly. But then I tend to like food and am an accomplished cook too.
  9. I agree -- home grown hopefully
  10. Interesting thread --- First off, I NEVER read an unfinished story. Stories that have interest to me I download to a "new stories" directory. As they are finished I move them to a "ready to read" directory. Some in the NS are months old and RTR are more recently finished but might be months old since the author started posting. So my reading is almost an 'after the fact' reading which does nothing to bolster the authors ego to continue their writing. John Ellison had died before I finished reading his 'Aurora' series, Which is one of my 5 top favorite stories. This story is a really good read!!!! Ellison might have been one of the last authors I have written to. I had gotten tired of no response in return. Even a short 'form' response would have been nice --- 'Thanks for reading my story". So I don't normally comment any more. I know, pretty stupid of me -- but then---------. Maybe I should write my own "form letter response". Just my 2 cents worth.

This is really powerfully stated, Eric. Been there, done that; it lasts a life time -- A field of dreams ~~~~~ !
  12. WOW! I was dumb struck when I read that this was your first story. I had to go back and check for myself -- sure enough! CAP was an awesome story and is on my reread list. You wrote CAP as a Pro - flat out awesome!!
  13. Rachel Maddow (MSNBC) has been drumming hard on this topic this week. Thursday (?) evening it was the main issue and she spent half an hour on it. Being gay herself - she was a p-ssed off tigeress!! The Washington 'C Street gang - Family Connection' is involved in this too and she had her talons into Sen. Grassley and Senator James Inhofe last night and was ripping them apart as only she can do!! Rick Warren had a knee into his groin too! http://rawstory.com/2009/12/conservatives-flee-uganda-gay-law/ and video - well worth the 8 minutes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdp_AdbrcAg (Dec 10) http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/#34387661 (Dec 11 - another 4 minutes) You go girl!!!!!!! Edited for links

  16. I don't think so! Really, on a scale of 1 - 10 it is maybe a .25. I didn't see this happen in real time but I assume it wasn't a 'bend him over backwards type smooch'. I can think of so many other things that might have happen. I can see "tea baggers" having a problem though --but --- REALLY! It is reactions like this that keep us buried in the quagmire of what they "THINK" homosexuality is. I don't even think most kids, of any age, would bat an eye at a kiss between two same sex people. Major over reaction me thinks! Just my 2 cents worth

My fav is a BLT with field grown tomatoes - tuna melt with a good swiss cheese works for me too.
  18. A few years ago I spent some time checking out the different Linux flavors and settled on Ubuntu. They have not disappointed me in any way. Both my desktop and laptop were initially dual boot - both are now only loaded with Ubuntu. I have found Linux much less complicated and user friendly than Windows and of course, way cheaper. The latest version 9.10 is a 'first class' experience. Installation was clean and flawless in every way. From what I have been reading, the "Ubuntu family" is the leader among all the Linux flavors at this point in time. I wouldn't think twice about recommended Ubuntu.
  19. Another, long story, would be Brew Maxwell's 'Foley Mashburn Saga' with a total of 220 chapters +/- - Awesome story! I have read it twice and is still in my reread list. found here: http://www.crvboy.org/stories/brewmaxwell/t/c01.html
  20. One of my all time favorites was the "Aurora" series by John Ellison in 5 very long parts starting with 'The Phantom of Aurora' http://library.gaycafe.com/nifty/gay/military/phantom-of-aurora/ I was saddened to see that Nifty is listing John Ellison as "Of Blessed Memory". I shall truly miss his stories!
  21. You are sooooo right Krista, Colorado is pure God's country. I live here in Grand Lake, CO at about 8300 ft. just at the West entrance into the Rocky Mountain National Park.
