  1. Carlos is telling us to relax because the "incident" will happen in the last chapter (#37) -- or he's trying to lulling us into thinking the "incident" is a ways off so he can spring it on us when we least expect it.
  2. A fun chapter. It was interesting to see these events more from the "older" men's perspective. I'm looking forward to the next chapter; as I remember, a lot happened at the dance club.
  3. Great chapter. Ditto to everyone's compliments.
  4. Yay, 10 more chapters!!! Boo, only 10 more chapters!!!!
  5. I do agree with both @Clancy59 and @Carlos Hazday. At the same time, the "angry black man" meme brings up primal fear for many white people in the U.S. Since Richard Nixaon, this has been exploited by many politicians, usually using coded language.
  6. @Clancy59 I agree with you 100%. I was brought up with the ridiculous maxim: "Sticks and stones can break your bones, but words will never hurt you." Verbal bullying is still discounted by many, if not most, people. You can get off the hook with excuses like "I was just joking" or "I didn't mean anything by it" or "Don't be so sensitive." Meanwhile, verbal bullying can cause years of emotional suffering and even lead teens to commit suicide.
  7. Let alone the coded racist responses. David Oyelowo wrote a thoughtful response about this. https://www.indiewire.com/2022/04/david-oyelowo-ugly-encounter-after-will-smith-oscars-slap-1234714919/amp/
  8. I want to see CJ versus Marjorie Taylor Greene, please, please, please.
  9. Have anyone ever heard of someone being in low dudgeon? Here's a funny riff on dudgeon: https://sesquiotic.com/2018/07/08/dudgeon/
  10. Do you think it Liston wine?
  11. You can always follow the trendy path -- "Carlos Hazday with ....." Then your disciples using your notes to keep the series going (think of the many "Dune" books since Frank Herbert passed). Then completely new books about featuring "Carlos Hazday's CJ Abello." Of course, we older readers will have passed our expiration dates, but I'm sure your younger readers will love it -- neverending CJ.
  12. Hmmm. So Brett and Cesar have been demoted from main story line characters to just two of the bit players that are part of the Squad+. Was that CJ's doing?
  13. There's nothing wrong with a little spoiling. Or a lot!!!!!
  14. I'm definitely embarrassed. I better read BN again (3rd time) --- I didn't recognize Matt & Seamus from Chapter 9 as being the protags in BN. Another of my senior moments, I guess.
  15. Another fun chapter. I'm surprised you mentioned Matt and Seamus without even a brief description of their relation to Jay & Loren so as to clue in the folks who hadn't read Boss Nanny yet. (Or am off my rocker to think there are still a few folks in the world who haven't read Boss Nanny?)

    Timeline

Very helpful. This is confusing, from Turn 25: "Zalna and T'san seek advice from T'san..."

Phew. So no chance of Brian and Peter going at it for a while. Now the only question is who Brian's boss will be? I'm still guessing CJ.

And CJ didn't insist on your behalf?!?? How ungrateful!

I still need a little help. Who's Brian?

Great chapter. Hilarious!!!! It's wonderful to be back in Miami, and to spend time with Chipper. I love Peter, he's going to a fun character over the years (Carlos already promised us 5-1/2 years). There's also some a little, the spice of foreboding about the future. Both CIA and State Department higher ups are independently planning CJ's future. But both groups will be in for a surprise because CJ is rarely inclined to just do what he's told.

Brion? Brion? Brion? Who is Brion? Or is this like Peter, a name you're throwing at us but we won't meet him till the next chapter? The context implies that Brion is CJ's P.A., so maybe we won't meet Brion for several years, in some future story!

“Thanks, Tiny Tim. Lead the way.” Owen’s head slap was loud enough it nearly drowned out Peter’s “Fuck you, Sasquatch!” Peter has already figured out the best way to deal with CJ is to give back as good one-liners as CJ gives. Seems he's a fast learner, a good trait for a P.A.
  24. An absorbing chapter, interesting plot twists. Great writing. Loren did a huge amount of work to prepare for the trip. Just in food preparation alone. And then built a bed for them on the spot. He even secretly made sure Jay had warm clothes. Jay seems to take that all for granted. Loren worries so much about Jay that he doesn't go to the his games to avoid watching Jay get injured. And Jay knows that. He could reciprocate and say, " I know you love to climb and that you have other climbs scheduled with your friends. I worry so much that you might fall and get hurt that I can't watch so I'm going to stay at the camper or go for walks." Instead Jay acts like a spoiled child -- or a traditional husband who thinks his word is law. Jay was an expert at attuning to Loren while courting him. But Jay's lost his touch now that they are a couple. When the rubber hits the road, the shit hits the fan.

I'm relieved it wasn't my memory having one of its glitches, just a my not being able to see into the future. I'm looking forward to witnessing CJ going at it with someone new, what form will it take this time to piss him off.
