Thank you, Albert! One of my best is a compliment I truly enjoy hearing. I work hard to try to improve with each new work. Jubal is on a knife edge as he waits. We know there is a part of him that feels responsible, even if logically he knows it isn't true. It was his gold that kept Prescott hanging around, and why Lucas got shot. Add to that the fact he loves him deeply, and no wonder he tries to keep so busy. I wonder if readers have noticed the only times Jubal has slept is when he is holding Lucas's hand. In some ways, I see that is a beautiful thing, though it is heartbreaking too. Thanks for the kind words and the support, dear friend.

This is all kinds of positive, Man, and I can't help but love it. I suppose there is some anger driving him, but I think the fact he feels connected to Lucas when he works on the farm is likely what is keeping him sane... and optimistic. It is conceivable Jubal is sensing these changes in Lucas, and that it is not just wishful thinking. Fingers crossed he's right. And yeah, he needs to look after himself better. This could be a long haul ahead of him, so who knows what he might still face. And something else... no matter how he might feel, he doesn't expect Lucas to feel the same... he is doing this for him with no expectations at all. Meanwhile, those roots he is putting down in Bearpaw will mean little if Lucas isn't around. Really, he is in a tough spot either way... but I think he is used to being a loner, and could easily be again. Thanks for the thoughtful sharing, my friend. I appreciate it.

Thanks, buddy!! Love hearing this. I have to feel that flow in a story. It all has to make sense, and that doesn't mean sometimes things don't happen fast, because they certainly can, but if they do, it has to be believable. Lots of Bearpaw Mondays left.

This is the second day. Jubal left and went back to the farm the first day after the doc ordered him to go clean up, then returned that evening until early morning, and now he is back for this second night at his bedside.

I often say writing is so much work, and it is, but when I get comments that appreciate the effort, it helps make it all worthwhile... or comments that tell me a reader relates... or that it made their day or week... or that they love a character... or... well... any comment really. Thanks, again, my friend.

Whoa! Don't be getting ahead of the story, buddy. Right now it is all innocent stuff. Nobody said anything about friskiness... yet....

Hey, J J! I don't like to waste reader's time, but I'm never in a hurry to tell a story... never want to rush it. It is taking a long time in 'reader time', but not in actual time. I'm pleased you see the weaving that is taking place. We are learning more about Lucas's friends, and we are slowly learning more about Jubal. There are tidbits that I would hope gives the story a richness. Great point... are some of these people seeing more than loyalty from Jubal? That would scare him for sure. Thanks for this, my friend.

Lol. Yeah... 2 inch boards are now only 1.5 inches thick. You make an excellent point, Kris, and I agree with you. It's why I called this chapter "Broody". Jubal is as broody as that hen who's setting on eggs. He's building a home, but at this point he is doing it for Lucas. Right? It's tough to say how Lucas is doing. Was his hand gripping back, or was it just the position it was in from being gripped by Jubal's?

Hey, Doc! Yeah, the doc asked Jubal to remove his shirt. He might have seen the scars on his back the first time he saw him... Jubal was shirtless when he arrived covered in blood... but didn't ask at the time because he was busy with Lucas. Is Lucas improving? Jubal seems to think so. I think Jubal would go crazy if he didn't have the farm to keep him busy. He feels connected to Lucas when he's doing things for him. We always want to help when we feel powerless. Thanks, buddy.

Hugs for you, my friend. I hope your day gets better. Isn't it amazing how fictional characters can affect out lives and our peace of mind?

Broody The sun was showing itself to the east, halfway clear of the horizon, and Jubal was staring right into it as he rode out of Bearpaw. It was a breezy morning with the promise of being another fine day, but he could tell there’d been some rain during the night, dark patches in the dirt giving it away. Must have happened while he slept. He had so much to ponder, and pretty much all of it had to do with the man he’d just left behind. He’d been given no new reason to ho

Thanks, my friend. This story seems to be working its way into readers' hearts, and that makes me happy. Where do we go from here? Keep reading, because I ain't saying nothing.

Just made myself a veggie pizza. My back hurts from taking out some fencing yesterday, so yeah, I am taking it easy today.

In all fairness, the little tyrant is pretty transparent.

Hey, Doha! Thank you! A real cracker... cool. Reid is putting Lucas first, as he should, and we see him in a different light in this chapter. Maybe he is sad about something other than Lucas getting shot... it sure does seem like it. I like the respect and compassion he is showing Jubal. It helps Jubal not feel so alone. Dinah is a fabulous mare, and so is this new one Jubal has started to bond. In some ways, writing about these horses has helped me deal with my own loss. The timing could have been bad, but I choose to see it as good. Thanks for sharaing your thoughts and letting me know you are loving the story, my friend. Bearpaw Monday is getting close.
