    Thanks Parker! David tries his best to simplify the geometry in the next chapter, the finale of Part 4 "Alex." That, alone, sort of tells you how it will go. Donny's game is simple. He's attracted to David and doing a better job than Matty, whom we might have had our money on.

    Thanks Def! Yes, I too think the irritation is related to this cloud in his brain. When Twoey was in the hospital, he called his lack of memory, puzzle pieces that were missing. I think David might be beginning to experience that same thing right now. David is probably too preoccupied to think about Carl as Chuck's brother. But it is an interesting point. Should Chuck know he's Danny's brother or should he not?

    Thanks Def! No, David is far from dumb. The cluelessness we've been joking about seems to be intrinsically tied to Burch trauma.

    Thank you spikey! Thoughtful comments, as always. Honestly, I don't think David is capable of figuring out his confusion. That shrouded portion of his life is bad enough, but now it is trying to come out--each time he needs to make that 'G' decision. I will say, his gaydar seems to be impeccable, at least to his subconscious 'dream' self. Hey, there can be two gay boys in the freshman class, can't there? They seem zeroed in on the 'straight' boy though, don't they. Hmmm ...the two girls he got anywhere near having sex with were soon banished. (Alex is only remaining vestigially.)

    Thank you, Def! Ironic that gentle Donny met him the same day as did the gentle church. As I mentioned to CG, the Burch suppression is so totally complete, to the extent of not remembering his own life before 8 years old, that there is no way for David to suss it out on his own. It is slowly breaking its own way out, but with painful side effects. Will the doctor be able to pull it the rest of the way out, or will it suddenly manifest itself with catastrophic consequences? David has the talk with Tommy and not Daddy. Yes, very revealing.

    Thanks jess! I agree that David seems focused on what lies--both senses--within him. Or as focused as he ever gets. The church might prove very beneficial, because it could be the only source of being treated gently he's going to find. Let's hope he opens up to the doctor, but that's two whole days away.

    Thanks CG! I don't think David can explore the Burch thing. It seems to be hatching though. Each time he confronts a desire, the egg cracks a little more. Easy on Alex! You have to know she's toast as far as David is concerned. He's way past that now. Unfortunately, it's difficult envisioning him walking up to Twoey and saying, "Choose me!" At least not now.

    Thanks lux! It's really all moving as we might expect. The Burch suppression seems to be the key, but will it open a roadmap for David or Pandora's box? That is the worry we all have. tick.tick.tick.

    Happy for David that he might get his job back. It will do wonders for him and his self-esteem. But wow, the David/Mike relationship seems to be headed for disaster. For an established relationship and one where the previous chapter exposed a different side of Mike, David seems to be the one possibly causing the problems. He's simply not devoting himself to Mike or the relationship. Well, that's what it appears to be from my perspective as a reader. This seems like a disaster in slow motion. I makes me sad.

    Thank you, CG! Ah yes, David and Alex. You're right about what the breakup would mean to his self-denial. But you may just be a little wrong about how soon it will happen.

    Thank you, lux! What you say about David's behavior is true. He seems to be at war with himself, actually. We think we know why. And we think we know it'll be difficult for him to actually see it. This little war also seems to be sapping the energy he needs to help his friend Twoey.

    What Dayne said. I too was struck by your use of the bleak (lost, out-of-place, desperate and alone) section of the evening. Out of place, and out of luck. This was book-ended by the Adam/Kevin sex scene on one side and the Adam/Formal scene where Becker pretends to be who he's not. It isn't surprising this lead to his devastating introspection. Will the Sophomore year resolve these issues? We'll be watching.

    This is a fine story, Ron! The boors, the political 'situation,' Dorian's friends and the prospect of pending 'investigative' reporters sets up a huge and staggering stage for this tale. Well written and well done! I look forward to each chapter!

    Thans Lisa! I think the 'something' David saw was the lust of those two--especially the unleashed Chuck, The REAL Randy talk will be a big step for David. It'll take a lot of big steps for him to break through that block in his subconscious, which is preventing him from seeing the more-than-obvious.

    Thanks Lisa! Danny was a surprise, but if David is going to survive these last days, only Danny will be able to help him navigate those dangerous waters. I wonder how Danny and Chuck would have acted with each other, if they had known.

    Thanks Lisa! I think you're right about the fact Erik will steer him away from David. In fact, he probably as been subtly responsible for the growing disconnect. Jealousy or domination?

    Thanks spikey! Yes. David (unconsciously) delays anything related to coming to grips with his underlying issue. He's pretty good at that. By now you know his friends did reach out to him, and it made him angry they did. Maybe that's good, maybe that's bad. Donny will finally appear in the flesh, if you'll pardon the expression, in chapter 105. I agree that David's musings are growing darker.

    Thanks CG! It was about the normal length for "18 Weeks." You're right about the real cause being Burch and not indoctrination, but David doesn't consciously know this yet. And you're right again that it will jolt him to his core when that happens. It is trying to break out though, hence the head pains.
