Just goes to prove that you can't keep a secret no matter how hard you try. Though it's harder to keep when you tell everyone that you're a time traveler. Is it bad that I have no sympathy for Brian getting shot? I wonder why I dislike him as a character so much? Though him dying would cause Davey to go back personally. Or the fact that whoever the President picked gets killed...or we could have a whole new character thus no more Brian to worry about. Yes, that's the one I want. If you can't re-write a person that is already having a Do-Over, couldn't they send someone else back in time, and then hook up with Davey from this timeline as well as Sean? Please don't let it be Brian...

That was my impression as well. Davey has gotten so good at lying and manipulating others that he is keeping a secret. Plus things mentioned in the previous chapters, the game is afoot.

I've had this weird feeling that Davey and Sean are going to be connected for all these do overs. Which is why I am now fully supporting Davey and Sean...Goodbye weird "perfect" Brian. Sean is the only person that can have stability for both of them throughout all these Do Overs. Talk about a love that can last forever. 😃

Just drama for the sake of plot...not a fan of this chapter at all. It seems to contrived. Took me a good long minute to remember that Sean was in the bubble from the first time line when he went back in the second time line to warn Davey about the attack where he died. That was a head scratcher for sure...

Maybe its my dislike for Brian but him going from anger to almost accepting Davey is a bit forced. I think having Davey's old life and new life come together in this manner is a bit of lazy plot device just to get Davey and Brian in the same place. It would have been better if they didn't meet until later on in the timeline. Without any kind of manipulation from Davey. IE: the shooting range and stroking his ego. If they truly are meant to be together, then no matter how much time goes by they will be...let fate make that decision.

I am crossing fingers, toes, and eyes that Brian and Davey don't get together again. I always thought he was better suited with Trevor anyway though now I think Sean is a good candidate. This has happened so many times where Davey has to tell people about his do over and for the most part, people accept it at face value without putting up more of a fight. What I would have done in this situation dealing with the attack on my former friends, nothing. The Chinese would find out that Davey wasn't there in this timeline nor did he try to protect them. They would forgo interest in his former friends and find another way to get to him. The best thing Davey and the Government could have done in this case was nothing, leave the former friends alone and the Chinese would move on. It wouldn't be worth the risk to pursue them and start World War 3 if Davey wasn't around.

The author said it best with the opening line... His mother's behavior doesn't really surprise me. Grief makes people do weird things. Sean came back, always was a good friend. He came back twice and saved Davey's life twice. What has Brian done? Nothing! On to the next chapter. J

As before, I haven't commented on this story yet basically because I stayed up late again reading it all 18 chapters of Do Over Redux. I like the fact that the author has stayed away from describing sex scenes with kids. I don't miss Brian as I never really thought their relationship was that believable. It was just too perfect, they always said the right thing and always did the right things. Though now Brian is going to be back in the picture, so I'm not hopeful on that score. There seems to be way too many gay kids in his small circle of friends. Someone above me posted they told way too many people and for the most part, everyone just seems to believe it. I'd thought there would be way more skeptical people. The complete turn around with Davey's father is a bit weird as well, considering we have two other lifetimes to go off of. The different behavior of those from his previous time are a bit too different with the exception that bad things seem to happen all around him like he is a magnet for trouble. He's the most unlucky person in this world by far. That being said, I'm not sure I can read another two full stories about him living in the same time frame. But I am cautiously heading into the next chapter. We shall see how long I continue. J

The interaction between Reagan and Davey at the site of his library was pretty impactful. Love is a crazy thing! J

I haven't posted a comment since chapter 9, mostly because I read late into the night and didn't feel like commenting each chapter. The military thing, time travel, Reagan, very entertaining stuff the last few chapters. I like the fact that there was a time jump as they are starting to get older so I'm invested more in the characters. Before anyone throws stones, I don't like Davey and Brian together. I think Davey would fit better with Trevor. That being said, tragic when two family members perish. Wonder what kind of tail spin will this cause now that his father can probably get custody of Davey. Time to head to the next chapter.

I stand corrected. I had the picture in my mind of the large tape recorder that I used to tape the radio so I could listen to "secular" music as I wasn't allowed to listen to anything but religious bands my parents approved. Lots of Patti Smith and Amy Grant. Blech

What kind of tape recorder in 1981 could fit in someone's pants? This chapter gave me some moments of PTSD. Had something similiar happen to me about conversion therepy many moons ago. Luckily I was actually an adult so I didn't have to worry about going against my will but still scary. I would have loved to hit the man that kept grabbing me.

I was really hoping that the plotline of Jenny and the father wasn't going to be forgotten after one little conversation. People who are prone to attack children are never "fixed" with warnings and conversations. It takes years of therapy and a desire to get better and then sometimes that doesn't even work. I have a hard time believing a twelve year old boy could overpower an adult male. Even one with adult memories. But I must admit it was rather fun to suspend my belief.

This chapter hit me hard. I had too many friends succumb to this disease. Too many doctors who didn't care about researching the "gay disease". It wasn't until Ryan White caught it from a blood transfusion in the mid-eighties and was given six months to live. Somehow he defied all the odds and made it almost to the end of the decade before passing away at 18. This is what really helped mainstream media to take notice. So many wasted years with little to no research being done. As for that flight attendant he mentioned as being Patient Zero. His name was Gaetan Dugas and was linked with a boatload of cases here not only in San Francisco but in New York as well. He loved his bathhouses. But the claim that he was patient zero was nothing but a coding error. He was labeled Patient O, as in Out of State Patient, not patient zero. On to the next chapter.

I agree with Rigby, Davy way over reacted to a bit of drinking. Though Brian's parents underreacted to a drunk twelve year old leaving a school sponsored dance. I can guarantee parents would have had a harsh reaction to that. Though I was 14 and it wasn't 1981 but the premise is the same. And guess which character I took after...HA HA

I can see that Davy acts and speaks mature for his age, he is after all a thirty something man trapped in a twelve year old body. Which that in itself would be horrible in all sorts of ways. But the maturity of the other boys in both their speech and understanding is stretching it a bit for me. Twelve year old boys or girls for that matter, just would not comprehend those concepts. And I laughed aloud when the Coach overheard the conversation and didn't immediately talk to someone about Davy and his grand delusions. Yet there is something about this story that is keeping me intrigued. So I'll press on to chapter five and see what happens next.

Not my favorite chapter, but I rarely like sex scenes with younger people. I think that is why I stopped reading it years ago. But seeing as I really like the premise I'm heading into chapter four J

If I could go back, I’d definitely try to bang all the guys I never had the courage to hit on. So many wasted opportunities J

I think I first read the first few chapters of this story years ago and never finished it. But I didn't remember it until I saw the sequel pop up. And I'll be damned if I didn't steal a part of this plot for one of my own, unwritten story ideas I jotted down about four months ago. Crazy how things go in your brain and then years later, almost ten years later, pop out and you think you have an original story idea. Great first chapter. I think this time around I'll keep going to the end. Time Travel has been on my mind lately and there are times I look back at the eighties with great fondness. J

Hmm, hints of something supernatural with the members of the brotherhood in this chapter. Keeps me reading further. The mud fight is a bit contrived, and the plumbing doesn't work so you have to shower together was a bit forced for me but I'm liking Q a bunch. Will keep reading further chapters.

The Brotherhood is my first story that I'm reading by The Writer X. After finishing the long first chapter, I intrigued me enough that I am definitely going to continue to chapter two. I had watched a movie some years ago that had this same premise, can't remember the name right now, and I remember thinking at the time I wonder what it would be like if the main characters were gay. I think we are going to be getting that in this story. Though for professing to be straight, Jacob is pretty gay to me and focuses a ton on people's bulges. Interesting characters, great witty dialogue, and a cool premise. Though I'm not sure if the Brotherhood would be that overt in their claims, threatening to ruin peoples lives if they quit. I did have a few issues with the whole wearing handcuffs, and every person in Jacob's group were invited to pledge. But these are small gripes. That being said, I'm heading to chapter two now. J

Here we go, we get descriptions, motivation, and I finally found out how old Boone is. Though I still wish I got a description of him. Much better chapter, we get the backstory between the two boys, I can now call them boys, and find out more about the start of their friendship. I'll give this another few chapters for sure.
