  1. Good evening, rick. I hope you have a nice holiday tomorrow. As for me, the day is winding down, so I’m going to read for a bit before going to bed. Good night DiCers. The sweetest of happy dreams when your time comes...
  2. Maybe so, but I think you’ll look back on this holiday fondly, because you made it special, because you are both important enough to not let the holiday go by unnoticed. Have a great day the both of you with fond memories of those not with you.
  3. Hoping for negative test results for you and yours.
  4. You do realize, when you say “stop laughing” it only makes people laugh more, right?
  5. We got one of those from the neighbour’s young daughter as a surprise gift, and I’ve seen quite a few displays of these rocks when I’m out for my daily walk.
  6. I admit to being one of just 1000s - from all over the world - who subscribes to the YouTube channel “Chunk the Groundhog”. His table manners may be atrocious, but he sure is cute. During the night camera scenes an opussum visits to partake in the feast set out by ‘Farmer Jeff’.
  7. Finding something new you like to do is a good way to fill the hours - and hone a new skill. Without COVID, I probably wouldn’t have discovered how much satisfaction I derive from taking care of the garden and yard. Then again, getting to play with new toys - the leaf blower/mulcher has been fun. PS: tim, I really like your new craft, and that you’re making something for your nephew makes it that more special. Oh, and those Christmas balls are really cool, too.
  8. They are around here, that I know, but as Im pretty sure they are nocturnal, I don’t think I’ll get to see one in the flesh. Oh well...
  9. My neighbours have spotted the fox catching squirrels, but nothing else so far. I’ve seen squirrels, raccoons, rabbits, and now foxes. I wonder what I’ll see next? 🤔
  10. I thought of that l, but then I thought “what if that encourages the raccoons?” Just going to have to leave it to him venturing in out of curiosity.
  11. The light in the backyard is being left on all night, and that seems to help. Will keep your idea in reserve if the vinegar stops being an effective deterrent. Fox urine is supposed to deter them - there’s places that actually sell it - so I’m leaving the gate open for our resident fox to leave his scent in the yard if he so chooses. *fingers crossed*
  12. Good evening, rick. How was your day? I hope it was a good one. As for me? I just got back from my walk. I stopped at the hardware store and picked up some cleaning vinegar (10% acetic a acid) to deter - yes, it does work, but you need to replenish the scent after awhile - the raccoons from climbing on the roof and pulling up shingles in an attempt to get in the attic. A couple of weeks ago, I found a fairly large piece of a single on the ground. The roofer came, and found three spots where the little devils had torn off a shingle and/or a piece of a single. All repaired now, and I’m hoping it stays that way. The first dose of vinegar worked for about a week as they returned last night. I went outside at 12:44 a.m. - yep, they woke me up - to chase them away by flashing the outside lights on and off, because, apparently, they don’t like strobe lights. Thankfully, it worked, and I’m hoping tonight’s dose of vinegar will work a little longer being it’s twice the strength as the first time. Oh, and I saw the fox again. okay, that’s it for me rambling.
  13. Just had a peek outside. The snow is so light, I can’t see it coming down, but there is a blanket of it covering the ground, so I guess the snow is real. *sigh*
  14. Nothing but rain so far, but there is a red bar alert on the weather network starting at 5 pm through to midnight for crappy snow conditions. I actually thought about your “commute” when I heard you got snow today. I am pleased for you, you’ll have no aggravations getting into work tomorrow
  15. I bought a sheet set from Amazon in July to replace the expensive - they were on sale - sheets I bought a couple of years back. The full size were only $25 (top, fitted, two pillow cases) and they’ve held up really well, and seem quite deep, though my mattress is only 8 inches deep, so I don’t know for sure. The description does say the fitted sheet is 14 inches deep, so that should work on your mattress. They are nice to sleep on and come in a variety of patterns/colours. Making the bed is easy - even with having a footboard now) because I finally figured out keeping note of where the label corner goes means I don’t short sheet the bed. I wonder if I’m the only one who took forever to figure out this little trick? Anyway, this is them. The king size sheets are $35.
  16. I liked that the inexpensive sheets I bought on Amazon seemed bigger than the mattress, because they fit so well. Since you mentioned the depth of your mattress, I thought I’d measure mine. Turns out, it’s only eight inches deep, so that’s why the fitted sheet seemed so roomy. So, I don’t think the sheet set brand I bought would make much difference for you and your hubby. I did find these sheet clips that look like the ones my mom used when she had a fitted sheet that wouldn’t stay in place. I don’t recall my mom having an issue with them popping off - certainly not loudly anyway. https://www.amazon.ca/4-Piece-Sheet-Fasteners-Straps/dp/B00LMATFGM/ref=sr_1_39?crid=34QYLORIRO22G&dchild=1&keywords=sheet+straps&qid=1606013248&sprefix=Sheet+%2Caps%2C188&sr=8-39
  17. I seriously almost did just that this past, Monday. I opted for Greek yogurt - banana chocolate was my flavour of choice. It’s all gone now...
  18. Okay, now I want some of that. Do you think this would be considered essential travel so I could cross the border and come for a visit? 🤔
  19. I do this all the time, too.
  20. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like this - they’re lovely. I’m sure, with practice, yours will turn out great, tim.
