Oh, it's definitely cowardly and stupid; he just doesn't see it yet. Justin calling him out on his BS just irritates him more because he sees Justin as one of the 'enemy'. Next chapter will be a little bit more of an eye opener for him.
As a mother of a gymnast, I see how their strength gets 'overlooked' sometimes until they shock someone--mine out push-ups all the boys in her gym class every time, surprising everyone. So that's sort of where this story is coming from. Declan has only seen Bailey as this skinny-looking kid in baggy clothes in his math class before now.
Declan tried to be quiet as he dressed in a pair of running shorts, a tank top, and sneakers. He strapped his IPod to his arm, turning for the door, and accidentally kicking the small trash can by his roommate's desk.
Evan jolted, eyes darting around in the pre-dawn darkness.
"Shit. Sorry, Ev," Declan muttered.
Evan flopped back and pulled his covers up. "God, Declan, can't you run at a decent hour?"
"I know I usually run later, but I couldn't sleep. So I figured I'd jus
A loon! Ha! Loved the shifter story, a little different take on the normal kind of shifter. I think being a bird shifter would be awesome, flying and soaring on the wind... but then I guess you would have to watch out for those predators! Nice story, Parker!!
hehe, Justin's the one wishing for something, but no there's nothing between them besides friendship. Most students do live on campus obviously, but Bailey has an exception... which you all have picked up on quicker than Declan did
Yes, you're right, tags can, and probably will, change. As I wrote back to drought's review, I have been considering a little sexual interaction, so the 'no sex' tag might change. Declan has been influenced too much by Chris, his team captain, who is a bit of an egotistical jerk. He doesn't see what it's doing to him... yet.
As Tim says, tags may change. I have been debating adding in one lately, so it's not off the table, but my initial plan didn't have it in there. I would expect it to be pretty mild, maybe even a little clumsy as they would be new to sex... So we'll see!
As for Declan immediately assuming Bailey's dad is away, I probably should go back and clarify that Declan's dad tends to travel for business a lot too, so that's why he would make that assumption...
Yeah, I've pretty much stereotyped Chris into a muscle-bound egotistical jerk who's projecting that to his team. Gymnasts are very muscular and strong (I know, I have one!), Declan just has to realize there are different types of strength...
"You're worthless, Foster!" Chris snapped at him as soon as practice was over and they were in the locker room. The quarterback shoved at Declan's shoulder, causing him to bump into the lockers.
Declan shoved back, sneering at the arrogant son-of-a-bitch whose big mouth had caused all the trouble in the first place.
"I fucking matched that little runt, one-for-one, and you know it! I stopped because the coaches arrived," Declan defended. There was no way he was going to let some gym
Yes, I am using the dumb football player stereotype to emphasize Chris's egotistical nature. He's projecting his 'we are the best' attitude to his whole team, but unfortunately needs to show it by trying to berate fellow classmates. Declan is currently a follower and finds himself falling prey to his own ego here.
