Congratulations!!! -
I'm glad everyone liked the mirroring of the chapters in Part 1 & 2. One more chapter after this and then Part three will alternate between the two perspectives... Once again thanks for reading and liking/commenting! I love hearing what you think of what's going on!

Bailey packed up his bag after practice, intent on heading to the computer lab for a couple hours to work on his paper he'd started yesterday. He'd saved it to his Google cloud so if he needed to finish it at home he could, but working in the lab kept him from spending too much time at home. Of course, as soon as he picked up his phone, he realized he had a text from his mother. <Pls come home asap after practice so we can head to Daniel's office and he can talk to you> Sig

Hehe, thanks! Thank you all for your wonderful comments and speculation on what might be going on! It will be a while for Bailey to elaborate on his phobia to touch. I'm still working on part three, and I really need to get moving on it or my weekly postings are going to catch up!

Strangely, Bailey was grateful for Justin's presence today. The guy's idle chatter kept him from thinking too much. Bailey had intentionally led them to a table in the corner after they'd gone through the line. He hated the dining hall lines because the other guys always jostled and nudged as they reached for items. He sighed after they'd taken seats and he had a little breathing room around him. "Do you have Richards's test today?" Justin asked, chomping on a piece of bacon. "Ye

Congratulations!!! Well deserved! -
Sneaking back downstairs after his mother went to bed, Bailey soaked a teabag in hot water before putting it on the raw rip on his palm. Experience had taught him that tea bags, even tea tree oil—but that shit stank—helped seal his rips enough so he could still use his hand on the bars the next day. He'd also apply some antibiotic ointment to it as well and wrap it before putting his grips on. He also made himself a sandwich and prepped a water bottle for the morning before heading to b

I'm so glad you all have enjoyed Bailey's POV. I was a little worried about how showing the same events from Bailey's POV would come across. I hoped they didn't seem repetitive, so thank you--especially ghanbrews--for letting me know that I succeeded! Yes, Bailey is self-harming and there was just the hint of "it" in this chapter. And of course, you all had pretty much figured out that Declan was wrong in assuming Bailey's dad was just away on a business trip. Thank you ALL so very, very much for your comments and likes. I love to hear what you are thinking about the story!

"Chavez! Straighten out that layout!" Coach Richards yelled across the gym. Owen groaned as he set up to run his punch-front layout again across the floor. Bailey flipped up to a handstand on the high bar, letting his body hold the rigid vertical for several seconds before swinging down full out stretched to a complete a front giant, then a half turn to a piked endo. As he switched his hand grip, he felt the already irritated skin ripping open. The leather grips only did so much to pr

"What is this?" Bailey glanced down at his hands, rubbing his thumb over the thick calluses created from years on the bars. "I thought I did better than that." It was an excuse; he knew that, but telling his mom he hadn't been able to focus lately wasn't much better. "What do you think your father would have said if he saw this C-?" his mother waved the test in his face. Oh, God. He gasped, feeling like he had been punched in the gut. "He spent years fighting for our

Thank you all for your comments! You are so right about Declan's struggles. I know he didn't seem very likable at first, but I'm hoping he's slowly grown to be a little more sympathetic. Next up, the events from Bailey's POV!

"So, where were you?" Jose finally asked. Declan shrugged. "Just walking a bit." "What did Chris mean by you were 'taking care of some trash'?" Alex pressed. "He's just being a smartass," Declan said vaguely. "Fine, whatever." Alex shoved his hands in his pockets, obviously not interested enough to press for a more thorough answer. They walked back to the campus, talking mostly about the last week's practices. Of course, Alex and Jose avoided mentioning the weight

Sorry, I didn't get inspired ( or have time!) But the stories are really good!

Hey All! Thanks so much for all the comments. I love seeing how everyone feels about these characters. I know Declan is not totally likable right now. I'm hoping he's coming off as a believable teen, struggling with peer pressure and doing the right thing. Bailey is breaking all of Declan's preconceived notions. There's one more 'Declan' chapter before Part 2 where you get to see Bailey's POV.

Declan met up with the guys outside of Ruffner Hall. They waited a couple more minutes for Alex to show up before heading toward the gates. They each pulled out their student IDs and scanned it at the guardhouse, marking themselves as leaving campus. It helped the school cross country and track the students, as well as ensure that everyone returned safely to campus who was a boarder. They waved at the guard at the gate before crossing to Heritage Square. They descended on the small court

Fuck Justin. And fuck Bailey McIntyre. Declan slammed his way into his room, causing his roommate to nearly fall out of his bed. "Christ, Dec! What the hell?!" Evan shouted, before flopping back in the bed. "You needed to get up anyway," Declan growled as he searched his drawers for clean boxer briefs and a set of clothes for the day. He set them on the dresser before stomping to the joint bathroom their room shared with next door. Fortunately, neither Logan or Micah were in there

Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying it! Yeah, Declan will have his eyes opened soon!
-
Oh, it's definitely cowardly and stupid; he just doesn't see it yet. Justin calling him out on his BS just irritates him more because he sees Justin as one of the 'enemy'. Next chapter will be a little bit more of an eye opener for him.

As a mother of a gymnast, I see how their strength gets 'overlooked' sometimes until they shock someone--mine out push-ups all the boys in her gym class every time, surprising everyone. So that's sort of where this story is coming from. Declan has only seen Bailey as this skinny-looking kid in baggy clothes in his math class before now.
-
Yes, Declan does seem like a bit of a jerk right now. I think every teen has moments of being a little self-absorbed, some more than others.
-
Yep! Bailey has no idea of what's running through Declan's head.
-
Declan tried to be quiet as he dressed in a pair of running shorts, a tank top, and sneakers. He strapped his IPod to his arm, turning for the door, and accidentally kicking the small trash can by his roommate's desk. Evan jolted, eyes darting around in the pre-dawn darkness. "Shit. Sorry, Ev," Declan muttered. Evan flopped back and pulled his covers up. "God, Declan, can't you run at a decent hour?" "I know I usually run later, but I couldn't sleep. So I figured I'd jus

A loon! Ha! Loved the shifter story, a little different take on the normal kind of shifter. I think being a bird shifter would be awesome, flying and soaring on the wind... but then I guess you would have to watch out for those predators! Nice story, Parker!!
