It's too late for the Pinta Island Tortoise... That book pointed out that it was the rarest species in the world, with only one known living individual. Unfortunately, Lonesome George died in 2012. Therefore his species is now extinct.

Actually, I just used the internet to get pics of these species. I still own a children's book about the world's rarest animals that I got as a kid. I chose the species from that book, though because it's twenty years old, a lot of the species listed there have since rebounded, which limited my selection.
