Sweet dreams everyone Enjoy your Sunday, big drive tomorrow for me. Last minute impulse shopping is not the smartest thing to do - I now have a 2m gold Christmas tree to take down with me. It was discounted, only $17 It's a bit funky modern but it should go nicely with the more traditional small tree I am also taking... yep totally overdoing it

I saw the fire while I was finishing up my shopping. I will let you in on a little secret, while I was shopping I saw some slippers on sale (heavy discount) and bought them for my nephew. Bad uncle

That looks good... thinking about dinner here. Had a fire less than 1km away today. A million fire trucks on hand and it still covered a fair bit of territory.

There are some hassles with the roads. Some of the main highways have been closed. Keeping fingers crossed for them

The vast majority of the fires are on the other side of the country. There have been several fires near me but nothing compared to the millions of hectares destroyed in the eastern states. That being said, there are fires all across Western Australia - we are one third of the continent, about the same size as one third of continental US. The map is covered in 51 fires, luckily all at advice level. There is a total fire ban in place that has been running for a couple of weeks. The closest fire is currently 20km away although a fire alarm has gone off at one of the primary schools 7km away. Currently safe, subject to the usual fire season changes

@Valkyrie Good news is no loss of life reported in the Balmoral fires however 20 properties have been destroyed. Keeping fingers crossed
