well.. i plucked up enough courage to walk over to the drinking fountain whilst he was there ... said that i had something for him & asked him to wait a bit, rushed into the changing rooms and grabbed the extra water bottle that I've been carrying for a while, went back and handed it to him, reminding him of the first conversation we had where i said he should bring one - exchanged a few more words & then introduced myself properly and offered a hand shake .... i know his name now ... i wont put that here. a few more words & i think that's a good start, ice broken (no one fell in & drowned )... so best leave it at that ... both go back to our work outs ... he finished before me ... but we both ended up in the changing room together - along with a number of other people -so conversation was a bit slow.. but they left & we're alone so chatting away ... what i do, what he does , ooops ... i knew my guesses where bad but turns out he's younger that i thought ... at only 17 !! ... errrk !! back track ... oh well .. its good to finally talk to him ...

ok .. sometimes i really hate myself .. well perhaps thats a bit strong , but i really could do with a right kick up the bum... He came back ! now the really stupid thing is - although he started his workout on the step machine next to the cycle i was using ... and i looked up at him acknowledging his present ... and knew exactly what i was going to say ( along the line of "welcome back, i thought we had lost you") - i didnt say anything ! ... this is bloody crazy... head, heart & the rest knows that nothing is going to happen (really really know - no silly butterfly's & bird tweets this time) - so why cant i just say a simple "hello" or something ? ... all the way through the session i was trying to force me to say something . nada .. once i do start chatting i've often been told i dont know how to stop ... but this is plain weird ... crazy thing was in the changing room i was chatting away to a couple of other guys about his time in Kazakhstan & some of my colleagues were out there etc.. Cute guy comes past & i smile at him .. but again nada ... come on .. your just looking plain stupid now... oh well .. thanks for allowing the rant ..

thanks for the tips guys ... now will fill my kindle / book shelves (not that there's much room on them anyway - notice how most "modern" homes don't seem to have book shelves in every nook & cranny - or even just from 1 wall to another) - mine sort of run all over the place & end up with piles of books all over the floor, desk, stairs, there's way too many to read in 1 lifetime ... i think i'm classified as a hoarder in some things

i wish you well & good luck... as a number of others have said, communication is going to be a major factor after 2 years together at college - i went to work, he went to uni.. i visited every weekend & phoned each day .. but it still didnt work out -not being there for him all the time like we were at college lead to temptations & when i turned up early one friday found him with someone else - i'm not suggesting that this will happen to you (and i really pray it dont) - but until he can work out how he feels about you it's not looking good.

haven't written anything in this tread for a while -- well he's gone MIA - did i spook him off just saying "Hello" ? (and YES that's all I did really say ! ) , who knows, but he comes to the gym no more I've been away a few times popping over to Europe for work the odd days (Frankfurt & Brussels) - trying to wrangle a trip to New York, but tomorrow up in the smoke that's London ... oh well .. lesson learnt here is don't take so long to say "Hi" ...and dont spook them away (Halloween soon so where's the ghost emoticon ?) oh well onwards and upwards

the only movie I've actually slept through was Solaris - not the George Clooney one - haven't even attempted that version , but the original 1972 Russian language one ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069293/ ) i literately couldn't keep my eyes open ..zzzzzzzzzzzzz....(and thats not because it was in Russian - i watch a lot of foreign language movies - mostly Korean / Japanese )... i work for a company that pays us to watch movies for the airlines - and boy are there some stinkers ( a lot that's already been named here) .. the newest one is Godzilla ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069293/ ) which has been name checked in a previous thread. main problem seems to be hollywood has run out of ideas & is rehashing (rebooting) so many movies - if the original was good leave it alone !
