  1. This is a story with such real characters, who face (and sometimes avoid) what life throws at them. All the characters have such good character traits and flaws it makes you feel like you personally know them, and can empathise with any situation they are in. It's such a well written story I binge-read it and couldn't bring myself to stop. There were definitely some laughs had, as well as some intense feelings, but ultimately this story describes what it's like to be human. It's an absolutely fantastic piece of writing - and I would definitely give it a read if you're somehow still on the fence!
  2. This is a great story - I loved every moment. You manage to make the characters so real, the scenarios to visceral and the experience reading leaves me sad that I can't read it again for the first time. It's so good reading about fallible characters who try to overcome the struggles and battles that Nash and Penn did. This definitely hit close to home and feels so inexplicably real. Awesome work!
  3. What a great story with such real and vibrant characters! This was like I was right there with Alec and Finn feeling all the emotions they felt along the way.
  4. This is an excruciatingly dark, yet somehow also beautiful story. It is masterfully written with the balance in detail giving you just enough to want more, but not too much to overwhelm you, makes for a very readable piece. The way the story develops as a journey is very well constructed and the loneliness is emphasised by the lack of dialogue perfectly encapsulates the solitary mindset. This was a great read, and I only hope I'd be able to write as incredibly as you do one day. Amazing work!
  5. I'm glad I could do it justice - thanks for the praise! I've never had any experience being near an ambulance myself thankfully, but was unsure how to best capture the confusion and uncertainty best. I hope you recovered alright after your own injury. Maybe there was your own version of a Shane there
  6. Hahaha - believe me when I say I'm not trying to write cliffhangers! Nick just seems to find himself in these kinds of situations!
  7. The sound of hushed murmuring echoed around me, as I groggily became aware of my surroundings. I struggled to open my eyes as I was blinded by the bright light above me. For some reason I found myself on the ground. It was lumpy and uncomfortable. In an instant I remembered exactly what had happened just moments before. It hit me like a bolt of lightning. She knew. I audibly groaned as I tried to sit up but couldn’t get the energy to lift my upper body off the floor. “Take it easy bu
  8. After class ended almost everyone sighed in relief at the end of another school day. It was lucky for those people with which school ended at the last period. Regretfully for me, this meant that it was time to serve my detention. Well, I’m not sure if ‘regretfully’ was the right word, as I was not in the slightest filled with any kind of regret after being callous and brutally honest about Tiffany in Geography. Maybe it was just regret that I got caught. Yeah that was it. Worth it. Although
  9. Sam had always been easy-going, and we’d been platonic friends for a while now. We didn’t really have a whole lot of deep or intense conversations, as most of our interactions involved us ribbing on each other, or just friendly banter. On those rare few occasions that our conversations turned more serious, Sam was always reserved and thoughtful, like he always carefully considered the weight his words had, before throwing them out for the world to hear. That was another quality about him that I

    Chapter 4

Damn, that went from lighthearted to sobering really quickly. I really like your writing style, it flows well and had me laughing to myself quite a few times - particularly in this chapter!
  11. I love how passionately you despise Tiffany! It's good to know I can create characters that people hate!
  12. I woke with a start at the sound of the front door slamming. I realised at once that I must have passed out, fully clothed – shoes and all, on top of half a pile of clean clothes which were now strewn across the bed. “Nick, can you give me a hand with the groceries!” yelled mum, unaware of the current state I was in. Not responding wasn’t an option. I couldn’t leave her request unanswered, as that was one certain way to have her come into my room and find me. I couldn’t begin to imagine what
  13. Chapter 2 Lunch ended too soon, as usual, and hearing the screeching of the bell, my fellow classmates and I cascaded into the halls and toward our next class. I may actually be on time for once, I thought, since I already had all my books with me. “Hey Nick, where d’you think you’re going with my Maths book? I paid good money for that!” Sam proclaimed in an offended manner, as if he actually cared about it. Looking down I realised that I’d grabbed his book by mistake at lunch, just
  14. Chapter 1 Here we go again, another year of monotony. It was really the same thing year after year. After every break, the excited giggles turned into raucous laughter as more and more people trickled into the school. The crisp morning wasn’t chilly enough to dampen anyone’s spirits, as most of the guys wore shorts and tees, while the girls seemed to always push the boundaries in their scantily clad low cut tops. Not that they had any effect on me. It was cringe-inducing enough the way some
  15. As someone who doesn't get embarrassed easily I sure was in for a shocker of a first day of my last year of high school. Everything was going fine in my boring school, boring town and boring life until HE came along... I just wanted to get through the end of school and move on to bigger and better things. Apparently, that was too much to ask for. I should have known that life is never that straight-forward for me. Let's put it this way, I'm going to be in for an interesting few years of friendships, and relationships? Wait no - that can't be right. Well I guess it is, so strap in and let's both hope that this doesn't end in disaster!
