Talia lay with one side of her face pressed to the cold floor, her hair spilling out in every direction across the stone and over her face. A short day and a half on the road had done Adrian and Kade’s relationship well, and Adrian was pleased to see that they still got along outside the confines of a hotel room and the Hawkins’ shop. Maybe! Kade is used to being a Nabian citizen. For a long time he has had no agency or ability to decide how he should act or what he should do - it had been decided for him for most of his life.
