    Chapter 6

Thanks for this chapter! I was looking for it moments before it appeared! Now my heart breaks for Wyatt. Fear and despair can break a person irreparably. I wonder if Wyatt can even hope to recover. And Bryan - what must he be thinking? Only he really knows Wyatt well enough to decide whether to buy the "second thoughts" theory offered by Mommy Dearest. The real question is for how long that explanation will throw Bryan off the scent of the truth. Excellent suspense with plenty of questions to chew over.

    Chapter 5

Oh, dear. It looks like the bottom just dropped out on poor Wyatt. Life goes from wonderful with petty annoyances to straight down the dark funnel hereafter? This seemed like a particularly good chapter, and left me understanding more than earlier - at least, if the conclusions I jumped to are correct. And if I were Bryan, I would be freaking out very soon.
  3. Timely summer recipe for those with gardens: warm Zucchini salad - 1. Shred or grate about a quarter of a pound of cheddar or jack cheese. Or use different cheese, if you like - your call. Set aside. 2. Fry a quarter pound of bacon. Set aside on paper towel, reserve fat. Over medium heat: 3. In reserved fat, brown 1 onion, chopped fine. 4. Add as much cubed Zucchini as you like/can stand: coat with onions and saute. Don't let the Zucchini go too soft. 5. Add about half a pound of frozen corn - toss well, and let cook a couple of minutes until warmed 6. Add cheese, add bacon (which you have since crumbled). Toss and serve.
  4. I second that. Many thanks for #39! Very, very glad to read it.
  5. Riley - thanks for sticking with the story! And the beta/editor search is going well. Someone I respect and value as a writer is willing to have a look at what I've done so far, so we'll see how that goes.
  6. Many thanks to all of you for your advice and encouragement. I think I prefer this: 1. Write 2. Beg for a Beta/Editor 3. Polish with B/E Repeat as necessary 4. Publish, at intervals (but not too long intervals) Am now embarking on steps one and two. And while I am at it, special kudos to Riley for his stellar work. I enjoyed 'Safe Hands,' immensely, and have followed Luke for some time now. You haven't lost me yet, Riley.
  7. I coach, if that helps.
  8. Valkyrie, I am in your debt. Many thanks. Heaven knows I could use the help.
  9. So today's Typical Newbie Question: is is there a GA protocol, custom, or regularly acceptable practice for finding a Beta? Is there perhaps a forum full of volunteers eager to say "pick me?" Sorry, just not sure how things work.
  10. Well, I guess I prefer to have it pretty much written before posting. At least, I'm doing the writing part, very slowly. I definitely feel Riley's pain over having ideas that haven't gotten to the light of day, yet. What is the best way to get advice on the story as a whole before you post and get yourself painted into a corner?
  11. I sometimes wonder why some very promising stories just vanished into thin air; still "In Process" after years of neglect. The chapters compelling enough to make me want more. Is it acceptable to try finishing one of these stories as a fanfic (I really don't know what to call it) after the author lost interest?
  12. New to this site. Have enjoyed exploring the stories. Several got me wondering if I could write one of my own.
