    Coming out

When I think back to my coming out, a few key data come to my mind: I came out to my parents on my eighteenth birthday. In the preceding weeks, I had already come out to my brothers, my aunt and my grandma. But in case of my parents, it was different: Even though, they were tolerant overall, I had huge difficulties to tell them. Since I'm twelve or thirteen, I know that I'm gay, but until my eighteenth birthday was coming closer, I hadn't given coming out any thought. Sure, one could argue

Samuel's friends are all very distinctive, but one of them will turn his world upside down.

    Wedding

There are two kinds of weddings. I bet, you did that, too, back then when you were in kindergarten. Marrying one of the other kids that you were good friends with. Not a big deal. We just mimicked the adults. What we weren't able to grasp at that age was of course the commitment for a period of time that we wouldn't have been able to distinguish from eternity. My wedding was none of them. In fact, it kinda was both. But before we proceed, I'll introduce you to my friend Mark. If he wer
  4. Is it just me, or didn't you know the distinction between the following either? cloister = general term monastery = cloister for monks (meaning "alone"; stay in the monastery; as compared to a friary; see video below) nunnery/convent = cloister for nuns friary = cloister for friars (meaning "brother"; travel and work outside the friary; as compared to a monastery; see video below)
  5. @Mancunian tried to give some more answers in the epilogue – feel free to check that out.
  6. I guess, in the end, you were proven right, didn't you? 😉
  7. @MancunianHonestly: I'm known for unexpected endings. In one other story in the German story community, I mentioned in an earlier comment, my readers hated me for my ending even though I tried to explain it similar to how I tried to explain it here. Some readers just want a happy ending no matter what. But I like authenticity better I have the strong belief, that not every question has to answered as long as the important ones are. The rest can be left to the reader's imagination. I tried to give some more answers in the epilogue – feel free to check that out. Flat out: I'm not planning a sequel to this story, however I like to have multiple independent stories set in the same world/universe, so there could be characters that make a short appearance in other stories 😉 And thank you for all your nice comments and reading till the end. It's much appreciated 😊
  8. @MancunianOr maybe my character development is just terrible 🤷‍♂️😅 But on the other hand, I couldn't claim I was unintended. I sure, you'll soon find out why. Let's just say for now, it's connected to your "Gareth now vs Gareth before the accident" analysis in one of your previous comments 😉
  9. Yes and no ^^ Yes, he needs to overcome his memory block, but maybe the Gareth before the accident was part of the problem, too. I guess, it's a matter of perspective to a certain extent … What you already started to see is that some people around him were also part of the problem, and he would never have questioned their actions and believes if he hadn't that memory block.
  10. Well, that's the supposed effect, stories should have on readers 😂 I'm very interested in your future observations in the following chapters 😉
  11. @Mancunian Yeah, it's not by accident in the category "suspense" – so much I can say ^^ Someone correctly labelled it as "whodunit". What do you mean by "hidden agenda" in this case?
  12. @Mancunian You might be on the right track, yet I can reveal anything for now 😉
  13. Thank you for your kind words. I honestly feel flattered 😊 I hope, you like the later, less abstract chapters as well
  14. One of the songs where I like the cover version even more than the original.

    Epilogue

I'm happy, you found it interesting Thanks for all your reactions on the chapters.
  16. @Story Reader Aww, that's so nice of you. Thanks a lot! 😊
  17. Congrats to your successful adoption 🎉
  18. That's just weird to see as a German 😂
  19. At risk of sounding cheesy (something I wouldn't pride myself on ^^), it's definitely the people, having good food and awesome convos. While we rarely celebrate Thanksgiving over here in Germany, I got the chance to join a Friendsgiving during my stay in Alaska and I absolutely loved it.
  20. Definitely a heartwarming story for sure! It's nice to see, how Ricky's life evolved during the story. Yet, I didn't fully get the meaning of why he saw the ghost and time travelled. But this could just be due to my English skills, since I'm not a native speaker.
