Chapter 1 “Come on,” Shane said. “It will be fun.” “No, it won’t be.” “It’s for charity.” Shane sat on one end of a long sofa staring at Bruno curled up at the other end. Bruno was long and lean with a mop of tightly curled auburn haired pulled back in a low pony tail from which it always seemed to be escaping; he was wearing a vintage Farrah Fawcett tee shirt over dark, tight jeans. Oxblood oxfords worn sans socks completed the look. Shane had stopped by

Bruno stood in his kitchen just before 8 am rubbing his tired face with one hand, as he used the other to load a strong blend of coffee and chicory into the filter of his coffee maker. An endless cycles of thoughts had kept him awake: worry about Sammy turning into regrets about his other romantic choices (while Sammy was without a doubt Bruno’s worst relationship decision, Samy had made other bad ones...many other bad ones). Then Bruno would remember his night with Waylon leading to painful lon

Chapter 1 Late on a beautiful day in May, Reed Bernal stood in a field dappled with wildflowers waiting for the man he loved to walk down the aisle. As a gentle breeze ruffled his raven hair that gleamed in the setting sun, Reed was aware that he looked his best, as good as he could. In fact, perhaps the best he ever had. And he should; he had spent months (and thousands of dollars) preparing for this day, upping his weekly sessions with his trainer from two to four ti

Three years ago, Reed's bad decisions cost him his relationship. Now, does he have the courage to try again?

Sorry for any confusion. The damaged costume is the costume Loren wore to the Mardi Gras ball years before (those parties do get wild) when he reigned as queen, not the St. Laurent evening gown from the Amanda Brooks house gala.

Chapter Four Bruno had (more or less) successfully gotten Waylon off his mind since their encounter. It hadn’t been easy; which was the reason that the ginger’s first reaction at seeing the handsome detective at Loren Hunt’s memorial was one of dismay. It wasn’t that the detective had become unappealing. In fact, Waylon looked incredible; more rested than the last two times Bruno had seen him, his large, powerful form was clothed in a sharply tailored gray suit, his

i love audio books while I work, (I mainly work with my hands), and I've just started listening to the Dresden Files. They're not perfect, but addictive, largely because James Marden does an amazing narration. I'm about to start another series by Will Thomas about Victorian detectives. The first one is Some Danger Involved.

And Fourth Man Out is also a good one. It suffers from a lot of the same problems as most indies---being a bit uneven, but the lead actors are good. And it avoids the focus on the usual urban, "fabulous" gay guy. He's very small town, blue collar. And his coming out is not easy, but it's not a super agnsty one. It felt pretty realistic. I think it's still on Netflix.

Chapter 3 Loren Hunt had been found at home, killed by a gunshot wound. He was a prominent enough citizen that his death was a major story, with segments devoted to him on the local news channels and articles in the newspapers and online; yet the details of his death remained sketchy, and the police had no real leads, at least none that they were willing to share with the media. Bruno had tried to avoid the media coverage, but he had still read a few stories about the kil

Chapter 2 On a Sunday morning two weeks after the fundraiser, Bruno biked over Jason’s favorite coffee shop by the Fairgrounds to meet him for a late breakfast. Shane was holed up in his studio, and Jason was feeling restless. It was a beautiful day; though it was already hot, the humidity was mercifully light. Jason had sent a text he was running a bit late, so Bruno went ahead and ordered a cafe au lait. Deciding to enjoy the unexpected lack of humidity, he settle

I'm glad you liked it. I was inspired, at least in part, about the Brandon/Chance romance from all the stories I've heard about and witnessed of people connecting with high school sweethearts via Facebook and rekindling romances. And for the record, there actually was a long stretch during the writing of this when Brandon did go back to Reed, but in the end, he told me that he was Team Chance.

Footloose was my absolute favorite movie growing up, so I wanted to do a bit on a homage. And the issue with the slide across the floor and the holes in the tux may in fact be based on actual events. And who couldn't react to a kiss under lanterns and stars while Adele sings.

Well, that makes me happy actually. I didn't want to write one of those stories where the triangle is lame because you know who the MC is going to choose from the very beginning. The funny thing is, the love triangle wasn't originally a big part of the story when I began planning it; it evolved as it went.

When Chance pulled away, my first thought was to rush after him. To jump in my truck and follow him so I could explain what the situation was with Reed. But after the first waves of guilt washed away, what took its place was anger. I realized I was pissed with Chance more than anything. Pissed that he was acting like a 14 year old girl upset over a misunderstanding in homeroom I had spent most of the last 7 years of my live placating someone else, and I wasn’t in the mood to kee

It took me a long time to sleep that night. I’ve never been a great sleeper; don’t get me wrong, I love sleeping, it’s just that I’ve been prone to insomnia since I was a child. In fact, I remember laying in bed waiting to hear my mother wind her old fashioned alarm clock; once I heard that I knew that in a few minutes she and my father, both earlier risers and heavy sleepers would be dozing. I would then sneak out of bed, put a rolled up towel against the door to keep any light

When Love Takes Over Chapter 8 The next couple of months flowed on smoothly enough. In addition to the items I brought back from New Orleans, I bought and scavenged enough other things to fully furnish the house. I had planned to keep everything minimal, but Chance insisted that I had to at least get a tv and a sofa for the living area. We had discovered a shared passion for Game of Thrones, and Miss Pauline refused to “have that trash playing in my house,” so we had

I never did have great gaydar, so it wasn’t a big surprise I hadn’t pegged Chance as playing for our team. But I can honestly say I have never been happier to discover another guy is gay. And I did spend a couple of happy moments imaging making out with Chance on a warm summer night in a truck parked in the back of a field (the preferred place for hooking up in the country) that afternoon as I, man bun and poncho back in place, finished burning the remaining trash. But I knew, e

Thank you so much. I don't have any major changes planned, but I did want to clean it up, tighten it up, and incorporate some of the reader feedback from the other site.

I'm glad you like that. I really was trying to avoid a story where the ex is nothing but an ass and the MC is perfect. Reed has his issues, but he's not a monster.

I didn’t know what to think about Reed’s gift or the inscription. When I had arrived home, I was convinced that I was through with our relationship, and then Dad’s condition had absorbed my focus. But if I were honest with myself, I missed Reed and realized how comforting and supportive his presence had been over the years. Especially at night in my childhood bedroom, I yearned for his arms around me. His visit had only strengthened these yearnings, and yet I didn’t know if I could ever get

Brandon Learns There Are Worse Things Than Breakups
mitchelll posted new chapter in When Love Takes Over
I made home to North Louisiana about 3pm, and when I saw my dad, I was appalled. He had been in his 40s when I was born, so he had always seemed old to me. But he had been blessed with good health, always hale and hearty and suntanned; in fact, only a few, maybe six, months earlier on my last visit, he had still been that way. But the man who greeted me with a tentative hug was a frail shadow of the father I knew. Ruby saw the expression on my face and gave me fierce hug. “I’m so glad you- 1 comment

When Love Takes Over Chapter 3 When I got in my truck and drove away, I had no destination in mind. I just knew I needed to be alone. Anger is not the only thing that makes me want to be alone; though I’m not really shy, I am an introvert and I like to be alone to do my healing. So I didn’t want to call friends or see them. In fact, my phone was off; while I was packing, text messages from Reed had already started coming in, but I wasn’t ready to read them or talk to him. In fact, I was

What Happily Ever After Really Looks Like
mitchelll commented on mitchelll's story chapter in What Happily Ever After Really Looks Like
I'm glad you're enjoying it. I really did want to paint an somewhat accurate relationship breakup as opposed to having Brandon be a perfect angel and Reed be pure evil. While the blame may not be 50/50, I do think they both contributed to what happened. -
What Happily Ever After Really Looks Like
mitchelll commented on mitchelll's story chapter in What Happily Ever After Really Looks Like
I admit, I think I could forgive a legitimate "it just happened" without too much work; I always thought a long term relationship thing would be harder to get over.
