    Chapter 6

Thanks so much for reading and the compliment. I have one or two more threads to spin before I start weaving it all together, but I promise the next chapter will at least clear up a big part of Jason and Shane's back story.
  2. I had a bad feeling things were going too smoothly, but I have to admit CPS wasn't even on my radar as a potential threat. Thank you....I love a good plot twist.
  3. Thanks. Fixed.

    Chapter 6

I am going to try to update sooner...i have finally finished outlining almost everything and working out some of my story issues. And the luxury hotel inspired hospital suites are actually a real thing.

    Chapter 6

Mr. Brightside Chapter 6 It was 7 am when Jason’s phone buzzed, indicating an incoming text. The apartment was so quiet, and he was so keyed up by the events of the past couple of days that he actually jumped at the noise. Unable to do anything other than toss and turn the night before, he had been up for a while and was on his second mug of coffee already. Jason reached over for the phone beside him on the sofa. The text, from an unknown number, said “Ramon will pick you up at 8 am and ta

    Chapter 5

Here's the deal with Jason: he's a people pleaser, and so tries to avoid expressing unpleaseant emotions like anger, instead choosing to bury them. But, of course, after repressing too many negative emotions for too long, when times of great stress (like the interview with Pamchenko), he explodes in rage. But by the time he spoke with his mom, he had his best little boy in the world facade firmly back in place.
  7. I have a really bad feeling about Tommy's mother and her church and reparative therapy.

    Chapter 5

I see Jason as someone who has spent most of his life seeking outside approval, which was working fine when he was the cute young boy following the approved script. Now that he is starting to grow up and deviate from that define role, he is starting to get pushback. He is only now being to understand the prison in which he is trapped.

    Chapter 5

I did not mean to imply Nikolai, Viktor, and Shane were engaged in some sort of incestual, polyamorous relationship (though I have to admit that might have been a more interesting plot twist). No, I just meant father, son, and son's male fiance is not the usual Norman Rockwell nuclear family. AS far as Nikolai's health.....you'll get the whole story on Nikolai eventually. And Jason is learning what happens when you live to please others

    Chapter 4

Jason is about to learn, first hand, about that old saying "Be careful what you wish for..."

    Chapter 4

I think the guilty parties should pray the police find them first.

    Chapter 4

The funny thing is Mr. Pamchenko started off as a sweet, fat, fatherly figure, but I'm finding characters have a way of changing on you.

    Chapter 4

The whole bottle might have helped. And thanks for the catch on Ramone vs. Ramon....I thought I had caught them all. Fixed now. Thanks.

    Chapter 5

Mr. Brightside Chapter 5 “No,” said Jason, almost screaming the word. “NO.” Somehow Pamchenko’s final inquiry had managed to pierce through Jason’s fear into the ribbon of rage that always seemed to be roiling within him. Normally Jason turned from it, afraid to embrace it; whenever it burst forth, it lashed out uncontrollably as it had toward Shane that fateful day in the Student Union. Since then, he had tried to bury it further, to keep it from ever hurting anyone again, but now, mi
  16. Poor David. I personally know how awful it is to over think every single thing. So glad he has his Grampa to rely on. It does make me interested in David's father though; he seems very uninvolved.

    Chapter 4

Mr. Brightside Chapter 4 Jason sat across from Mr. Pamchenko, who had now donned sunglasses and was looking out of one the side windows. The man was wearing a dark grey suit that Jason, even with his limited knowledge of style and fashion could recognize as custom. There is no way an off the rack suit, no matter how expensive or how carefully altered could fit that lean, broad shouldered physique quite so perfectly. The finely woven suit fabric gleamed slightly in the soft light that fi

    Chapter 3

I am editing the next chapter, and will try to get it out soon. And you are right that Viktor is no one to mess with.

    Chapter 3

Jason would be wise to be wary of Viktor.

    Chapter 3

Thank you. Yes, ditching Denise will not be as easy as one phone fight. And as for Viktor....let's just say Shane's life in the past four years has been eventful, as Jason will eventually discover.

    Chapter 3

Mr. Brightside Chapter 3 Jason was trembling by the time he finished parking at the hospital. Not only still consumed with worry about Shane, he was now freaking out about his phone call with Denise. It was one thing to contemplate breaking up with her in the abstract, but even Jason, with his lifelong habit of denial, knew that the reality would be very, very unpleasant. Even the repercussions from this one phone call…..Oh my god, he thought, she was almost certainly on the phone with h

    Chapter 2

I posted the first chapter a bit prematurely. This story started as a bit of a break from another project I was working on. I thought that I'd start Mr. Brightside, quickly finish up the other one, and come right back. Of course, I ended up with writer's block and was afraid if I abandoned the other project without ending it, I would never go back. And I refuse to have an orphan story....nothing is worse than getting drawn in to a great story on-line only to realize, too late, that it is unfinished.

    Chapter 2

Thanks so much for the review. This only the third story I've written (the other two are on another site), but I wanted to try for something a bit different than those. I'm trying for a bit of high drama, some twists, and major angst.
