No, i understand that. But Max is a good moral person and sometimes to live with yourself, you need to do what feels right. You need to take the high road and not stoop to their level. So Max did that ... she deserved nothing, you are right, but to be right with himself, Max chose the high road. i have several lovely glass and ceramic frogs ... did i ever tell you the frog relocation story? my brother and i used collect them in an old boat when we went to the cottage.. big old rowboat.. and we'd fill the bottom with them and row to the other side of the lake and free them. i do not know why ... but i've always liked them .. i think that's why 'charming' is in quotes...
