Chapter 1 - Broken in the Dark
Mikiesboy commented on Wayne Gray's story chapter in Chapter 1 - Broken in the Dark
Ha.. moss does not grow under your feet ... i'm glad you posted it .. it deserves to be here. not everyone writes poetry like i do ... non-stop ... they write it when the time is right and there is nothing wrong with that ... or with this. -
In an instant I am nothing to you Not enough of a person To be worthy of three small words Seemingly mountains to you Mountains so high Words so unspeakable You would rather walk away The choice you make is your own I will not be sad because of it Because of the path you’ve Chosen to walk I will go on without you Turn to friends old and new Farewell

reverberate verb | rih-VER-buh-rayt Definition 1 : to reflect or become reflected 2 : to repel or become driven back 3 : to continue in or as if in a series of echoes : resound The letter sequence "v-e-r-b" in reverberate might make you think at first of such word-related brethren as proverb, verbal, and verbose, all of which derive from the Latin noun verbum, meaning "word." In fact, reverberate comes from a much different source: the Latin verb verberare, meaning "to whip, beat, or lash," which is related to the noun verber, meaning "rod." Reverberate entered the English language in the 15th century, and one of its early meanings was "to beat, drive, or cast back." By the early 1600s, it began to appear in contexts associated with sound that repeats or returns the way an echo does.

I woke still in Don’s arms on Sunday morning. It was comfy there, but I wanted to move, so I rolled onto my back. Don stirred. “Where do you think you’re going?” “Horses, foster son, not necessarily in that order. Also … I’ve been thinking about Christmas … since I spoke to my mom.” Don flipped to his side, facing me. “It’s just October. There’s your birthday in a couple of weeks.” “Yeah. But … well, it doesn’t matter. We’ll go out or something; the three of us.” “

We had a major storm here end of January ... i have never been in anything like it. Frankly it was scary. Freezing, dark, snow so thick you could not see cars coming until they were on top of you. i stood out in it waiting for a bus for 45 minutes.. one came then broke down.. work is open 24/7 so i managed to get back there.. winds are howling .. i have a very good coat... but i was cold... by the time i managed to get home after a $60 Uber ride .. it took hours to feel warm again .. .so no shame it ... that was the worst storm i have seen here.. and being wet when you cant get out of it, well... you can still get hypothermia ... it really is not a joke, if you are stuck.

I wrote some back then and for the book they published Love is Love ... but i'll write something new, to add.

AC posted this in Live Poets ... I just had an idea, and want to see if there's much interest in participating. The three-year anniversary of the Pulse Nightclub killings is coming up in June. It might me nice if we as a poet community on GA come up with a collection to post here together. I think this collection can be both a gathering of poems written at the time, and now as the three-year mark approaches. What do you think...? i will certainly write something for this ...

murder of crows, an unkindness of ravens, a convocation of eagles, a cast of hawks, a deceit of lapwings, a puddling of mallards, a parliament of owls, a squadron of pelicans, and a lamentation of swans just in case you need a few more.. liked and am envious of this chapter.
