Thank you Dragon. It is only four months since he ended up on the streets, but a bad four months with the negative reinforcement that people can't be trusted. Only time will tell if escape is possible and what form that escape will take.

There were strange noises around me. Voices I could hear, but not understand anything that was said. It passed into darkness again. I slowly became aware of a soft, rhythmic sound, not overly loud, but there in my mind or was it something I was hearing nearby. Slowly my eyes opened as I tried to register where I was. Being so early in the story I'm going to take the evasive approach here and leave all the great questions you asked as speculation for everyone. I will say Thank You because its cool seeing that just two chapters in is causing you to ask all these potential questions about what might be happening or going on and what is to come. ;-)

When I saw the description of this story it kind of caught my interest so I bookmarked it to come back to later. Then I started reading it and got hooked by the time I finished Chapter 1. Now 5 chapters in I'm only taking a break because I have to do other things or I'd be doing a marathon reading session since this is one of those stories you just can't put down. The writing and characters are great and for lack of a better term, lifelike. I'm really enjoying this and can't wait to read more very soon. Thanks for sharing it.

The wolf had gone out on his own, needing time away from the rest of the pack for a run through the forest. It was not that he did not like being around the others; he did, and many of the younger wolves looked up to him as a leader. One or two of his counterparts in their group on the other hand he could definitely use time away from. The nice weather didn’t hold out for long as storm after storm pounded the city. I finally had to abandon my home by the river due to rising water in the James River. I wandered around the downtown trying to find a new home. I knew enough to stay well clear of the Capitol Square area when finding a place to sleep. Work could be lucrative around there, but you had to be careful. I learned from others that it wasn’t worth the trouble. If you’re caught you would get hassled or arrested for vagrancy

Thanks for the thoughts and comments. Perhaps with the choice of trying to trust someone and staying on the streets the fear of misplaced trust is greater than the fear of going it on his own. Only time will tell.

After the incident in the park I knew I needed to find something to do with the cash I was earning. I tried to be careful with my money and only spent when I really needed something. Most of it I was saving for the proverbial rainy day I knew would eventually come. If I happened to have a good few nights working, I’d sometimes end up with a couple hundred on me. All four are very good. Thief of Love can go to so many forms of stolen trust. Gone I can almost see the remains of a ghost town after the mine claimed all it could and was abandon. Keep up the great works Tim. Wolf
