  1. I wasn't worried about the money; you put it better than I did. I'm concerned that he might not get in, and he'll end up being disappointed. But there are other, similar programs, and even if Max doesn't make the cut, he can always try again next year. I'll check the website again, to see if it says anything, but I also sent them an inquiring email. Still waiting to hear back. I explained to Max that even if he auditions, there's no guarantee that he'll be accepted. He just looked me in the eye, very seriously, and said, "Trying and failing is better than not trying at all." That was all the convincing I needed. So, I talked about it with Morgan. Money isn't an issue for us; if the SI program says yes and agrees to have him, we'll allow Max to participate. He is currently down in the studio, working on an audition video. I suggested that he make several videos, and send them to multiple SI programs, as if he were applying to colleges.
  2. *siiigh* School is almost over. For most kids, that means vacation. Sun, sand, surf, maybe some camping. As for my kid, he's already talking about a Summer Intensive. Is it too soon? Max has only been dancing for eight months. He's been getting better, but some other kids have already been dancing for years before Max started. I worry that he won't have the experience of other kids his age. There's an SI program in Grand Rapids; the 8 - 11 year old division is between $285 - $540 tuition, depending on whether you want one week or two. We missed the window for in-person auditions (that was back in February), but they accept video submissions until the end of this month. There's also the issue of sleeping arrangements. Is it like a boarding school, or would the kids be expected to stay in a hotel with their families? My boy has certainly given me a lot to think about.
  3. Hey, Drewberry Pi!
  4. Hey, Drewbear! Hey, Spikey!
  5. Howdy, Albert! I see you changed your wand and robes for a cowboy hat and spurs.
  6. I love lemon crepes. 🤤
  7. We're having eggs in the basket with oven-cooked bacon.
  8. I watched A Wrinkle in Time today with Max. He got a funny little smile on his face when Levi Miller appeared onscreen, as if his heart was set a-flutter. I teased him a little bit by saying, "Is Michael forgotten so soon?" Max responded by giving me a pained look. It was a look that clearly said, "C'mon, Dad, don't be dumb!" I got told.
  9. We're doing well, thanks.
  10. You'd be very cute.
  11. @Comicality Thanks for the ballet video! I showed it to Max, and he was thrilled! Surfers are pretty amazing, too! I'd probably drown if I tried this!
  12. I'm keeping your family in my thoughts, Gary.
  13. Then why do they have ankle monitors?
  14. Hey, Spunky Drewster!
  15. Awww, cute! He is adorable, Drew. This is Kevin Johio Lucas Rehn Eires, known by his professional name, Yohio. He's a Swedish expatriate who moved to Japan because of his obsession with anime and Japanese pop culture. While there, he started working as an actor, model, and singer.
  16. Australia does seem to have more cute guys per capita. Troye Sivan, Jack Vidgen, Levi Miller, Robert Irwin....the list goes on.
  17. Recently, I was reading a book called "Anything But Fine", by Tobias Madden. The MC, Luca, is an aspiring ballet dancer, but suffers a critical Lisfranc fracture in his foot after falling down some stairs. No longer able to dance, and having neglected the academic side of his scholarship, Luca is forced to transfer from his private arts academy to the public high school across town. Which is where he meets Mr. Popular, who, sadly, is straight. Or is he? Tbh, I was hoping that the romance would play a minor role, with the story focused on ballet and physical therapy, but that wasn't the case. There were several other major issues, and I almost DNF. I donated my copy to a secondhand store, as I don't care to read it again.
  18. Hey, Terry! Nothing new to report here, but maybe something interesting will happen during the week. I'll let you know if it does!
  19. I'm not much for seafood, but I'll make an exception for takoyaki.
  20. I've heard that they can become rubbery if overcooked, which is easy to do.
  21. Nope. Nope. No, definitely not.
