I love the idea of life unlike the kind we know, with a broader range than we can imagine, but which is willing to share experiences with us. If the earth had spawned such life, it might be a better place. And if it has, we don't see them or hear them because they are hiding from us. And, it sad to say, it's not hard to imagine why.

I believe I did know that some gliders had been made from it, in addition to the kid's toys. But not that powered aircraft used the wood. I didn't recall that Heyerdahl's craft was made of balsa. And I did NOT know that about Corvettes. Although, finding out that a modern car is in part made of balsa wood should be no surprise!

I tried writing a story together with someone else once before, with mixed results. Fortunately, my third grade teacher was a good sport! 😀

Whoa! Betcha can't say that last sentence ten times real fast! I have to say that writing these stories is fun for me. Imagination is such a great place! But it's best when shared with others. No one wants to ride the roller coaster alone! 😁

Even if Charlie doesn't mention that exact research, I did it, and read the same sad story that you did. The history of the human race is marked by cruelty to others, and the purposeful decimation of native populations by ambitious and greedy settlers (or invaders) wielding superior technologies. What that says about the human race is, fortunately, mitigated, just a little, by the works of art of very kind left among us by those whose energies were directed at creation, rather than destruction. We are all human. And, happily, we are not all bad news.
