Just posted part two. Will post part three and four tomorrow (they have to be eight hours apart). Glad to have you aboard!
-
Hmm...titles for those two might be tough!

I never claimed to write Hugo Award-level stuff. I just like to have fun. I always loved this sort of science-fantasy story. You're just jealous that your toilet humor does not flush as well as mine!
-
They enjoy seeing you, too!

Or the ghost of a pumpkin!

"That was...different," Kippy said, finishing his meal. Their food had arrived via a piece of equipment that Charlie thought would have made a wonderful Mars rover, a large conveyance on six padded wheels, and replete with arms and eye lenses and all sorts of fascinating tools and doodads, that whipped up their meal and cooked it on the spot. The ingredients were apparently mostly molecules, combined and heated and flavored right before their eyes, and the result laid out on a square plate

Haha. I thought a star ship shaped like a pumpkin, in a Halloween story, would be pushing the bounds of credibility. Besides, everyone knows that aliens like watermelons better!

Too many people here at GA have complained about that all-in-one length. This story came in at 54,000 words. I broke it into four parts for posting here. I can post part two eight hours after part one, and I'll do that this evening. Then part three early tomorrow, and the last part eight hours or so later. That way, the whole story will be here for Halloween evening. Haha. Humans always leave crap in their wake. We are unusually put off by the idea of even being around our own wastes, at least in the western world. I agree that an advanced technology would find it profitable to waste nothing. Organic matter is organic matter. Remove the parts you don't like or that smell bad, and you have a McDonald's hamburger. Just ask anybody!

Charlie Boone was sound asleep, dreaming. Not only that, but it was a damn good dream, too. In it, he and his boyfriend Kippy, and their friends, Ricky and Adrian, had joined Frit and Pip, their elvish friends, on a Halloween quest for adventure, one where they hiked over snow-covered mountains alive with fanged snow beasts and giant, wolf-like creatures. Their goal was a far-distant castle, which squatted on the horizon like a small mountain itself, dark and foreboding, just as quest destin

Charlie and Kippy and friends are off on another Halloween adventure...this time taking it to the farthest reaches of space and time, and enjoying themselves, mostly, when they aren't being shot at or chased by bad guys!

Playing the hand you're dealt
Geron Kees commented on Ivor Slipper's story chapter in Playing the hand you're dealt
What standard!?!?! The whole point was that there wasn't one! It was a joke, son. I say, a joke! -
Fragment Eight: Searching
Geron Kees commented on ColumbusGuy's story chapter in Fragment Eight: Searching
Love it! I love a treasure hunt, and especially one that involves 'ancient' technologies. Hiding information as you propose is rather crafty, I do think. I can't wait to see what comes next! -
Playing the hand you're dealt
Geron Kees commented on Ivor Slipper's story chapter in Playing the hand you're dealt
Surprise! That was a step away from your usual. I liked it. I think you should write a noir mystery, perhaps with your tongue stuck in your cheek! I'll even help you get started... It was a gay night, perhaps one of the gayest nights I'd ever experienced in the city. It was so gay that the moths flying about the street lights were bumping into each others rears. It was so gay that the tomcats yowling in the alleys were all sopranos. One of those kind of nights where every Tom, Dick, and Harry you met on the sidewalk hurried past and averted his eyes, because he was heading to a secret rendezvous with a Tim, Rick, or Larry. I'd just left Tiny's Tavern, a gin joint where the booze was cheap and the bartender friendly. I had a head on my shoulders, one much bigger than the one I normally carried about, and it was throbbing so badly I thought I might pass out. I was stepping light, trying to miss the sidewalk joints - because everyone knows that's bad luck, right? - when I felt something hard press into my rear. "You Sam Steed, the private dick?" I was feeling surly, and just plain not nice. "What's it to ya?" "That's for me to know, and you to find out." "Clever," I said. I wiggled my butt just a bit, to see if what was sticking me was a knife, because the tip would penetrate my pants and the nearly non-existent black briefs I wore underneath - but no deal. No point, nothing sharp. Not a knife then. The feeling was blunt, rounded - maybe a pistol, instead. "What do you want?" I asked, biding my time. "I wanna hire ya, Steed. You and your private dick." As if to accent this request, the blunt thing gave me a poke right where it counts. "Ooh!" I said, gasping at the sensation. "Uh, I mean...threats won't getcha nuthin, see?" "I don't wanna threaten you, Steed. I just want what's comin' to me. And you're gonna help me get it!" I nodded. "Yeah? And what would that be? And if you say anything about a black boid, I'll clobber ya!" There. You can carry on from there, okay? -
It's been way too long since we've heard from these guys! You had some fun with words in this one, and your guys enjoyed every minute of it. Everyone was frisky and happy and relaxed. Kevin's aunt is way-cool. This was a great chapter! Oh...and yes, horses can definitely be smart-asses!

How about some Sasquatch to go with both? A Sasquatch would make that squash get squished in a hurry!
-
A little skwish goes a long way! I don't think I really plan to mix the casts of my tales. They all live in slightly different universes. That's as it should be. Having them all together in one place might lead to a serious case of author implosion!

I knew the end was coming, Ivor, but I am sad it has finally arrived. It was fun, for the most part, to take this journey with your guys. There were some hard parts, some sad parts; but overall, they made out well, and have a solid future now. After what they have been through together, I can't imagine that the future won't be better. Especially with Troy's (and now Adams') parents to love and look out for them. Sad that the store manager would not support Adam when his mother came in and got nasty. She was in the wrong in every respect there, but what else is new? Now the guys are more mobile with the new car, so maybe Adam can get a job upgrade? So, what's next? And don't say nothing, because we ain't having that, mate!

I agree completely. Heroes are seldom made in the den, in front of the TV.

It was. A very oral discussion, if ever there was one! Don't start none, won't be none!
-
Was for me!
-
Haha. I was 12! What came after is not something to be discussed in public!
-
I spotted a dick once. And I was so entranced, I had to go back for a second look!
-
Hmm. Somehow I missed this comment from way back. I'm very sorry. If you took the trouble to make it, I always wish to respond. There's always next Christmas, too.
-
Huh? I missed this comment, Gary. Sorry. I'm sure you're tired. Anyone that writes like you do must burn a heck of a lot of energy!
