More good points. I have to admit that if an SR-71 Blackbird went over me at an altitude of a hundred feet, I would remember it for the rest of my days. Police use both VHF and UHF com gear. They are allocated frequencies, different from the ones utilized by aircraft. Both Police and Military communications can be encrypted, which means that a casual listener cannot do exactly that. The varaiations of police radio from state to state can be bewildering, and none of them interface readily with aviation communications. After talking to a Ham buddy of mine, I decided to consider the use of police com gear as an alternative to the walkie talkies, but that it probably would not be of much use in other instances. As it turned out, I just didn't get into it at all.

I have to agree with you. I can manage a lot of stress and crap, if I have stuff to read in the process. Cannot imagine the end of the world without books in it. Fortunately, I do not wear glasses, so I need not worry about dropping and breaking them and being surrounded by books I cannot read, like Burgess Meredith in The Twilight Zone.

Life is kind of like that, don't you think? Even in the midst of chaos and war, there are always peaceful moments of almost-normalcy. I think that without them, people really would go nuts from the stress. Haha! No, I don't think it was Underdog that flew over. I agree, that someone was eyeballing the moving truck. Richie decided he did not want to contact the planes just yet, so has made no moves in that direction. As someone that knows something about radio communications, it would seem obvious to you to find some more sophisticated gear and at least monitor different frequencies, looking for activity. I have to admit that I would have thought of this, too. But Richie and Jeremy can't know something about everything. They've done very well so far, but they must have some limitations. In this instance, I asked my Mom what she would do in this situation, as she is not sophisticated about electronics and communications, and she did not think to find better gear and see if she could pick up any communications. So that was what I did with the guys here. Barring some familiarity with radio gear, the average person might not automatically follow up on this.

Well, the Romans were...Romans. There was no stigma for male-on-male sex in their society, as long as the Roman was the dominant/penetrative one. The regularity with which Roman men had sex with male slaves would have made them inured to it. On the other hand, there was substantial loss of status for a Roman male to be a 'bottom'. So, out on the battlefield, to see a horde of naked blue guys charging down on you might suggest that you were about to be stabbed with something more than a spear or sword. ALL good Roman men would run from THAT!

I'm happy that you see more than one note for the story to end on. I do think that the ending will be a surprise to some. The story began in the mid-Spring, and is now heading for summer. The location, while never stated, is Minnesota, of all places. The ages of everyone are put out there at some point, but you have to look for them, as they're easy to miss. Tina is 10, Will 11, Bennie 13, and Sherry is 15. Mike is 14, and Richie, Jeremy, and Marnie are 16. Haha. I can't say that anyone other than Marnie and Mom can cook, but in such a situation I'd be willing to bet that everyone would learn!

We are slowly working our way to the end. I'm happy that some people have stuck with the story. This is a freaking crazy busy site, with a lot to draw the eye. Getting people to actually come back for every chapter of a story can be problematical. I hope you feel it was worth it, when you see how things wind up.
