    Chapter 11

Good analysis of the situation, and good ideas, all. You always give me a lot to think about. Shouldn't you be writing this kind of stuff, too?

    Chapter 11

I guess it's kind of a simple fact that survivors cannot be dummies, or they will not be survivors. In every war throughout history, people far too young to fight have done just that, and done it well. The ones that make it through the carnage and come out the other side have aged far beyond their chronological years, and are changed in ways us peace lovers can hardly imagine. What kind of people it makes them into varies, from those we treasure as part of our racial heritage, to the very worst our kind can produce. But they're survivors, all, and - at least initially - we are proud of every one of them.

    Chapter 11

I can't wait to see if it works, either! Been a lot of fun having so many curious, interested people along for the journey to find out, though!
  4. Chapter Eleven The next morning they were back at work, bright and early. The first order of business was to examine the tool room doors. The door from the outside opened inward, and was made of the same stout oak planks as the barn itself. The hinges were large and heavy, and the frame around the door was made of four-by-fours. The door itself might hold the zombie for a brief period, but it only had a simple wooden latch to keep it closed, and that was not nearly strong enough to

    Chapter 10

No, there cannot be a dry run for this plan. But the options the guys have are limited, and they think they can do this (ah, the optimism, daring, and plain ignorance of youth!). Thanks for the kind comments.

    Chapter 8

Oh. Ouch. Ugh. Very punny! 🐱

    Chapter 8

Seen it. An intelligent, telepathic dog would have stolen the whole show!

    Chapter 10

Thanks! I noticed that Adam and Troy were reading this story, too. After all those guys have been through in Unbeaten, zombies must seem pretty mild by comparison!

    Chapter 10

Good to see you! Rotary dials? I've seen a few of them. Phones connected by (shhh...breathe it!) wires! You had a party line? I've read about them, and seen them in old movies, but that's about it. Must have been the area you lived in, as you are not nearly old enough to have known Al Bell personally.

    The Story

Thank you for commenting. I feel as you do, that wars create moments of great and deep feelings, that we in peacetime perhaps cannot quite imagination. The idea that there my be no tomorrow, and therefore no chance to follow our dreams, is not something we have to consider. In such a situation as this, to act in the moment, then, is to preserve the dream. I can only imagine how difficult it might have been to be gay in WWII-era Norway...but I am equally sure it happened, and that those involved dealt with, and survived.

    Chapter 9

Huh? Did I hint that? Where's the script...let me look...where...?

    Chapter 8

Okay, I forgot the pets. Having pets myself, I don't know how I did that. I didn't want the farm animals because the bad guy would kill them off. But what is the fun of an apocalypse without a cat or a dog to share it with?

    Chapter 31

Good to know there is more in the tank than just gas!

    Chapter 10

Most clocks run very well until, you drop them and kick them under the bed by accident. Oh. Did I say that out loud?

    Chapter 10

It's not an official name. 'Giovanni' has been suggested by someone else. Definitely more romantic than Zombo!

    Chapter 10

Haha! THAT scene in Twister was exactly what inspired me to think of the harvester blades!
  17. Geron Kees

    Chapter 10

Like to see some of the other recipes in that book!

    Chapter 10

    Chapter 10

Agreed. I have to admit that, knowing the end of this story as I was writing it, may have caused me to miss some things that seemed obvious if dealing with a...well, a zombie. All I can say is that...you'll see!
  20. Geron Kees

    Chapter 10

Thanks. I just asked myself, "Now, what would i do if I had a barn, a root cellar, some dynamite, and a very mean zombie ready to rip my heart out?" Heck, the rest was easy!
  21. Geron Kees

    Chapter 10

Huh? I hope not. I mean...nah. What could go wrong?
  22. Geron Kees

    Chapter 10

It does seem their only option. They need to get their visitor someplace they can do it in without going along for the ride themselves. The have the camp, the barn, and a shitload of open territory all around them. Not many places they could hope to rig a trap and have it come off.
  23. Geron Kees

    Chapter 31

Another pleasing chapter. I love the way that Adam has reconsidered his self-image, and wants to dress to look nice now. Not just for Troy, but for the world. That means his healing has come a long way. Keep them coming!
  24. Geron Kees

    Chapter 31

See! I TOLD you he wouldn't tell!
  25. Geron Kees

    Chapter 31

It was, on the surface, a free plug. So you can just stop being suggestive, okay? Besides, we wouldn't tell, anyway!
