    Chapter 1

Thank you for being first! Yes, it is a big state, but a beautiful one, and a great place to grow up. Or, it was in the 80's. My son was the age of Brian and Jeff in 2010, and he told me then that it was still a nice place to "hang". I can take his word on that. Nope. It was just Brian and Ed in the car at the beginning. Ed even told Brian that he knew that Jeff was meeting them at the quarry. No biggie, though. But I do expect you to be paying attention next time! Thanks again for noticing.
  2. Chapter One -- It was the late afternoon sun peeking through the trees that made the brief divide in the tall grass by the roadside visible. The entry was always overgrown and hard to see, and without that little bit of help from the sun, they might have missed the turn off completely. Brian Temple slowed the Bee and swung it into the worn twin tracks, feeling the car give a small bounce as it made the transfer from two-lane blacktop to old compressed dirt and gravel. He was familiar with the
  3. The summer that began with Rules of the Road is drawing to a close. Brian and Jeff have become close, despite their inability to have their relationship out in the open. But time and events - and people - have a way of adapting, and the closing days of summer are just the starting days of new things.

    Chapter 1

Well, most groups of guys are diverse. Hard to pin down the little things that draw people together and make them friends. We've all had friends that were a little crazy, or impulsive, or...ahem, horny...and we love them just the same, and we tolerate their little whims and fancies. They're our friends. Kippy has a sense of humor, and is playful My god, there certainly are enough guys like that! Charlie is level headed, and even a bit straight-laced at times. Ricky is actually sensible, but he's also in love for the first time. Adrian is, too. I tried to give them all different personalities. But they do share the common ground of being guys in love with other guys. Charlie and Kippy are the two that play off of each other the most. Kippy's cry of 'orgy!" is mostly in fun. Um, more or less.

    Maelstrom

People that abuse are button-pushers for me. Even with counseling, it is an extremely difficult reform. And those that are drawn to abusers have just as difficult a road to healing. Place these two personality types together and the results are often sad beyond words. It looks like something might happen here, though. Awareness of the problem is the first step. Finding the will to deal with it, the next. If Ivan has changed enough, there may be some hope here. If Dana is honest enough to realize when a situation is edging towards abusive and deals with it...maybe. Even the abuser-abused cycle has sunny says in it. It's the rainy days where people get hurt. These two might be okay if they not only find the right umbrella, but have the will to open it.
  6. Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! Now we are getting close to the meat of this relationship. The exploration part, the learning about each other. The most fun part. Goody, goody! Um, er...good job. Yes. I feel quite warm and fuzzy. No need to worry about me. I'll be fine, <Goody, goody! >
  7. Good. Now that Kellar and Toby are one, they are going to be a tough pair of muthas to beat. Love is born, just like a baby. Some births are more difficult than others. But those are the ones people remember, and talk about. You have fathered a good one here, buddy! I've been really busy and I am only getting this story a couple of chapters at a time. They stick with me, though, and I am enjoying the hell out of your tale. This is a great story, well thought-out, well-written. Now that the bad guys have put in an appearance, I am going to have to press myself to come back more often. I think the sleigh ride has just started to find the steepest part of the hill...
  8. Difficult chapter, but a welcome one. Finally, the enemy is in plain sight! And, the guys are back together. I knew that would happen, but still -- And Kellar has discovered a new ability to view an unknown color and break it down into its constituent hues. And -- I guess I need to go read the next chapter!
  9. Yeah, nothing says 'I love you' more than a full-sized poster on the back of the door! What a fascinating place Jay's farm is becoming! Jay's parents are simply amazing. His dad was cute, outlining to Dave what he expected for his son's visit at OSU. The tolerance for things gay by this family is unusual, especially for the 70's. I was just a little kid in the seventies, but already knew - kinda - what I liked, and who I liked. My family was also incredibly tolerant of this - most Dutch families were, even then. And even transplanted to America. So I do not find this mentality as expressed in your tale unusual or hard to believe. It was, at best, uncommon, though, at that time. Guess that just makes it even more special.

Ah, barns. I was surprised to find sex in this scene. I mean, you never put sex in your stories, CG. Especially not such warm, wonderful and emotional sex. Sweet sex. Oh - wait. Never mind. Thinking of someone else. Oops! Let me start over. I really liked this chapter. It was full of emotion, warm and sweet, and had the kind of moments that have turned this story into something very memorable. Denny is going to get worked out of his traumas and into something comfortable and lasting. Greg is doing things right so far. The heart is usually a pretty reliable guide. Also liked the line: “See the receptionist to schedule your next visit.” I'll do that now!

    Chapter 1

Geronland? Haha! That sounds like a cheesy amusement park full of creaky rides with the paint falling off of them. I'm glad you were amused anyway, CG. It was an elf that told me that that was your favorite carol. Yours and Valkyrie's. I happen to like it, too. I was at a mall in 2013 when a flash mob stood and sang Christmas carols. That was one of them. Never saw so many pleased people in one place at one time. Never forgot it. Really a remarkable experience. Thanks for the nice review!

    Chapter 1

Why thank you, m'lady. It was supposed to be fun. The moral just kind of crept in when I wasn't looking. Your hometown, eh? Sounds like you and I are from opposite ends of the same lake - you a westerner, I an easterner. And here we are, both visiting this very interesting place. Must be something in the air! Thank you for the nice review. I must come and visit you again.

    Chapter 1

Okay...where now? I know about these kind of storms where I live, but they seldom turn out this interesting. I guess I need to go out and get wet and cold more often to see who comes along to warm me up? I can't believe I started reading another of your tales when I can scarcely keep up with the other one! Oh, well - It's Christmas! I guess my presents started coming early? I'll be back for more. Ho, ho, ho, the big guy in red said!

    Chapter 1

Thank you, Ivor. I like my Christmas holidays to be fun. Got to watch out for those elves, though - they'll toss a moral into the story first chance they get! Every author writes a little of himself or herself into their stories. I let my Kippy out to play, and then set my Charlie on his heels to keep him out of trouble. Charlie keeps my world well-rounded. But Kippy reminds me of why I am here in the first place.

    Chapter 1

Whoops! Hi! Nah. I'd never make a living at this. Writers are known for the shine on the seat of their pants and the thinness of the soles of their shoes. I like to eat. So I'll just keep faking it for now. Thanks for the kind words, though!

    Chapter 1

Hi Raeder! Thanks for taking the time to read the story. I had a feeling you would get a kick out of it. You are much closer to the North Pole than I am, so I knew you would be reminded that the big guy takes this holiday seriously! Beste wensen, Geron

    Chapter 1

Haha. Well, I can't see the guys getting excited over some of those holidays. Maybe Valentine's Day? We all like that one. There may be a joke in the 4th of July, too. Especially this election year. Thanks.

    Chapter 1

Thanks for leaving a review this time around. I'm pleased you managed to read the story twice! Your nephew wanting to be Tinker Bell is not an indicator of sexuality, apparently. It's nice to know that he is happy, more than anything else. As for hetero - well, you can't win 'em all!
  19. You mean you stopped??? It was just supposed to be fun. If you smiled at least once, that makes me happy.
  20. I knew we were coming to this moment, and that Toby (better than Tobyn!) would be shocked. But I also do not see any way that Kellar could have told him any earlier about what he suspected. Toby's reaction is simply not unexpected. Learning that even a small bit of your free will has been compromised by fate is a blow. Despite the affection Toby obviously has for Kellar, finding himself bonded to the man has got to be a true revolution in his thinking. And, he feels Kellar knew more than he let on, and did not tell him. It's not Tilly's fault, either - how could she know that the matter had not been resolved between the two? That others suspected - or even could see - the bond between Kellar and Toby is the last part of the puzzle. So - where do we go from here? I think I know - but I guess I;ll have to go see!
  21. Well, well, talk about twists and turns. This is a positive development for the pack, but obviously a difficult moment for Toby (I like that better than Tobyn - I hope you don't mind!). Kellar continues to be caught in the middle of things due to his lack of experience with other shifters. I can certainly understand his hesitation in voicing a suspicion about Denver that was only that. Had he said something to Toby and things not panned out, it could have been even more difficult to deal with, Toby is wrestling with his feelings, no question. I am enjoying that there is complexity to the relationships here. I loved the wee small kiss that Toby offered up, knowing that Kellar was awake - or maybe hoping so. He may be wrestling with his emotions, but he seems to definitely be leaning in a certain direction. So am I!

    Sanctuary

Wow, did this ever take me back to the days of film! And, as a great believer in the idea that a lover's heart can be viewed through the eyes, I really liked this chapter's ideas. Romance is made of small things, that in total equal the link that binds. All of these relationships are broadening and deepening. Your guys certainly have become like friends to me. I very much enjoy sharing these moments with them, and caring about what happens to them. Nothing like sharing a cookie to make you see the love!
  23. "Friends are the best gift you'll ever receive..." ______________________________________________________________________________________________ "There." Kippy Lawson stepped back and looked at the tree standing in one corner of the family room. It was a Douglas fir, six and a half feet in height, draped with gold and silver strands, and dotted with glass balls of red and blue and gold. Clear glass ornaments in the shape of icicles hung here and there, and strands of lights among the b
  24. Charlie Boone and his boyfriend Kippy Lawson are back in a new Christmas adventure. Their best friend Ricky has a new boyfriend in Adrian; but a complication has arisen: Adrian's mom has lost her job, and they may have to move away. The four boys - and an unexpected Christmas visitor - set out to fix things before they get out of hand!

    Chapter 1

<Sniff>. Yeah - you got me. Again. The ending of this one is what's the most special about it. I've seen old newsreel footage of the blitz, with whole streets of houses leveled. In so many of those incidents, a survivor was found, somewhere. But they were usually alone. That you gave the gift of life to all three of your characters is a special Christmas gift, indeed.
