Unlike the open spaces beneath the House of Fire, and the great dam they had visited, the route they now took under Methuwan was an almost claustrophobic warren of tunnels and stairs. Irik said that they had lived in the domes created by the ancients before their first recorded memory. Kind of suggests a role for them in the ancient world that mirrors somewhat what they do today.
