You've heard that one before? I thought it was just me and a certain friend that thought that one up, back in the day!

Actually, there are five chapters. I no longer put all the chapters in the queue ahead of time. With the current software here, you can only assign a posting time for the next day's chapter. You have to come back after it posts and assign a posting time for the day after that. And so on. So now I just add the next chapter the night before, to assure it gets a posting time. I am interested to know how it is you can see as yet unpublished chapters, anyway. No one should be able to do that but me and admin. And aliens with skwish from the story dimension.

Thank you, too. I had a friend like Donnie back in middle school. He was always letting his mouth get US in trouble! But it was hard to hold it against him, it really was.🙂

Or, that's what I thought, anyway. What at first seemed pretty plain and simple soon proved to have some hair on it. I mean, there was more to it than just having someone around that you could kiss and hug and suck off whenever you wanted. Love is more complicated than like. The closer you are to somebody, the more there is to consider. We both discovered that being that close required learning some new things about each other. I lived in NYC for six years, and found that the term 'youse' and a sort of Bronx version of the Boston 'ah'-talk was common, but not easily pinpointed as to source. We had friends on Staten Island that talked that way, while others on the same street did not. But, no, everyone didn't talk like that. It's just a local vernacular I always found kind of fun. 😄 There are five chapters in this story.

I read these stories when I was nine and ten, and loved them. I had access to the originals, published with jackets, and running to lengths of 220 pages and more. Much later, these were all abridged down to about 160 pages for reasons of economy and press signature size, and they lost quite a bit of the depth they had originally. For anyone who has read the later versions and felt they were not that hot, just know that, as originally written, this was a very entertaining series of tales!

I have reviewed and posted a few more of them here lately. But many of my own challenge stories from Iomfats are posted here. In addition to this one, The Caped-Crusader Caper; Goofy-Foot; The Party of the Third Part; Thrift Shop Nation; The Second Time Around; ROYGBV; Blood Call; Star Light, Star Bright; A Game of Fox and Hare; The Charm of Being A Pig; Eye of the Heart; By Any Other Name; and The Stolen Dream all were challenge stories on the other site. In addition, It's Who You Know was written for the 20-year anniversary at Iomfats. There are still a number of the challenge stories I have yet to bring over. I may, I may not. 🙂

The eighties were great!

Well, that takes me back a bit! I think these subcultures still exist today in perhaps mutated (updated?) forms from when we were there, but the ones you listed are very much as I remember them. There are likely even a few more of these subcultures today! There was actually another sort of subculture when I was in school: the neutrals. I had friends among the different groups you listed, but I tended to circulate among them, and I resisted being hung with any particular tag. There were others that did the same thing. So while there were plenty of kids that made a cultural choice in school and gravitated to particular groups, there were others that refused to do that, and insisted on their right to hang with who they pleased, and where they pleased. So the rules were perhaps a little more flexible, at least when I was in those grades. But a very astute review on your part, with the humorous aspects highlighted. Thanks for sharing!
