Thank you, Puppilull. I think the admirable thing about Rudolf is that he lets himself be pulled out of his isolation and back into life, even though the romantic impulse doesn't pan out. What he does get is a different, quieter kind of magic, which is no small thing. -

Thanks! I couldn't quite figure out how to reconcile the unique card with the situation I set up. Perhaps I could have set up some alternate compelling reason why Rudolf goes searching - irritation? Part of the inspiration was the organization Let's Kick ASS and the film "Last Men Standing," of which I have only seen the trailer and read the print version. I've looked at the "Last Leaf" prompt, and am still waiting for an approach to bob to the surface. -

"Brew Radley's" is hysterical! That is your own take-off on "Boo Radley's," right? From the Chief's comment, it seems that Logan is in the habit of leaving personal items at the residences of people he's met. Maybe only the ones he wants to hear from again. A not-so-subtle way of saying "Call me." The over-the-top horrors of the twins' apartment were very fun. Very engaging, swift-moving chapter. I look forward to more.

The music wasn't to his taste and the crowd was too loud for him as Rudolf Steiner finished his early dinner at his usual restaurant. The staff had changed over the years, of course; so had the decor; so had the menu; so had the clientele, once almost all gay men. But Rudolf clung to his weekly ritual of dining there alone. He was promoted to vice-president and then was convicted of dealing drugs and sentenced to twenty years in prison, of course. You're right, that was a loose end. I also didn't say if Richard's right hand got better. Let's say it ceased being a problem after Richard stopped using it for anything but truth, justice and the American way.
