I understand that Liz is pissed and hormonal. But that doesn't explain or condone the the slapping. Ryder knew Teddy was a wreck when he left. But Liz needs to understand why he left as well. As for Teddy taking Ryder back that is his own decision and Liz has to realize that. That they were willing to risk it to try again (with conditions) and that it may be the only way Ryder will get sober. Maybe if she knew they were taking their time it would be different. So far they've taken the relationship slowly, they are getting to know each other again, waited weeks before they considered themselves boyfriends, that anything sexual happened and it they stopped when things got to much for Ryder. Ryder's going through intensive therapy, he and Teddy will start therapy, while Oliver is still having behavioral problems he's opening up and will have therapy. When Liz described Ryder as Teddy's drug that he wrecks him (such as his breakdown in high school - could she be trying to make Ryder guilty enough to break up or do something?) and when he's clean he does amazing things. I don't believe that for a second. The past several weeks while Teddy was taking care of Ryder he still accomplished his job, nothing bad has happened to his career (and in fact dealt with Nathan something he's been putting off) and his relationship with his family seems to he better. Teddy is starting to develop a relationship with his brother and he is redeveloping a relationship with his parents. So far having Ryder around has opened up the family. Now maybe it's just me because I am rooting for them to succeed and stay together.

He said it was a 30 day thing that addicts go through. But 30 days I don't think is long enough for the heart to recover.

Trouble editing. Also I completely understand why Ryder didn't go to Harry. He never had a father or someone he could trust/confide in. Odd, I cant edit the first comment I made (which I edited a once) but can edit this one. I didn't realize that Teddy was there that one night after his grandmother passed and he was using. I knew he took more medicine (plus alcohol) than he should have but not to the point of vomiting. Ryder should also have mentioned that something Oliver did help him get him out of a funk. Maybe it will earn him brownie points with his parents but more importantly his brother.

So how hung's Ryder and is he more of a top or bottom? You know the Apple Watches already track your heart rate. There's even a simple EKG machine for your heart that can be mounted on your iPhone. It doesn't give you the full readout like a hospital one does but it does monitor the most critical.

I do not know why but I feel his mother was pushing for Oliver to meet Ryder especially after knowing Teddy was going to the hospital. Maybe for Oliver to get over his star struck feelings and or maybe get back on track as an example of bad choices?

Yeah that was me. I think the joking Ryder made in in this chapter was to relate more to Oliver — to ease him and make him realize that he was a person and not a celebrity. And also maybe to lighten the mood and make Oliver think a bit more positively in the chapter.

I agree that Ryder still has to grow up emotionally. Even though he became a star at 18 he was an outcast and didn't have the types of interactions normal kids do. At the same time he became famous over night at a young age and you see a lot of young stars crash and burn. I agree with what Teddy is doing. He needs that closure whether it leads to love, friendship or heartache it's what he needs. And with his mother backing him may give him just that and help him understand. I think part of Ryder's issue is that he's still guilt ridden about how he broke things off and hurt Teddy. But having Teddy forgive him, help him along his recovery from the injuries and addiction may go a long way. Right now Ryder has no one to support him through recovery ans just knowing the one forgives you and may give you a shot at a relationship again could go a long way. Without Teddy he would be on his own and likely to relapse once he gets out. I'm still sympathetic for both Ryder and Teddy but also think they are both being immature. Ryder with some of his comments/actions and the way Teddy is dealing with things at home. Teddy may be a professional and respected in the hospital but he is immature with his brother (I get that siblings they fight regardless of age but from what is written he's been a prick to Oliver from the start), his parents with the silent treatment, and the anger he has towards them. If Teddy is so pissed at them for so long why is he under their roof? He may still have debts but thousands of doctors are on their own. I imagine since it was implied in the first story that his parents had money college was likely partly taken care of and maybe some medical school. I understand that he was hurt but not moving on or attempting at a even a casual relationship certainly isn't healthy. He could still have a spot for Ryder in his heart and some anger but if he was out and dating (even though I think he said its difficult with doctors but it still happens and they have kids) it probably would have helped him emotionally. I understand the fear of his being cheated on but to heal you have to put yourself out there. But 13 years later he's finally putting himself out there - for Ryder again. From what is written it seems like the only adult friendships he has are with Blake and Liz. (I don't mean to rip Teddy a new one but most of the story has been his perspective). All that that said I understand where they are both coming from and think they'll get through this together. Also at 31/32 how is Teddy the head trauma surgeon? I know this is fiction but he would likely still be I'm his residency, just finished it or working on a fellowship up at that age. To be a trauma surgeon you need five years of residency, take the boards and add two years as a fellow.

I think the parents were lying to Oliver because they are hurting as well. To believe that Teddy dumped him and it was a summer fling is much easier to believe than him being cheated on and his heart broken.

That's a very good question. I don't see Ryder giving up on the cemetery despite his feelings.

While I haven't had the type of heart break Teddy had I think he needs to be with Ryder through this. Possibly learn his point of view for closure. And even though they aren't a couple maybe go through some sort of therapy. That way healing can move on. As for the blowjob video I thought it was Ryder giving the BJ.

It does seek like the beginning of book two. Ryder was a dick for dumping Teddy but I can also see his thought processes. He already had anxiety and depression and everyone in his life left. His father killed himself and his grandmother died shortly after he left and he knew something was wrong. He should have broken it off the normal way. Teddy saw the signs of drug use starting with the marijuana and should have done something. I don't want to take the blame entirely off Ryder for his addictions but they do run in families. Teddy was also to reliant on Ryder and got his heart broken. Seriously he hasn't dated in the 14 years prior? Was the back story of Teddy's boyfriend cheating on him ever explained? I can't recall. Teddy was such a wreck after Ryder left him imagine how he will feel after Ryder OD'ing after Teddy yelled at him. For some reason I think Teddy's parents may have kept in touch with Ryder. It's just hunch. All that said I'm a sucker for a HEA and hope it happens. I hope book two comes out ASAP. Great writing as always @Aceinthehole !

Awesome update. One thing I like about this story is that it's not a wham bam thank you man type (which is also good). As far as I remember they haven't don't anything sexual which is remarkable but yet shows they are in it for a relationship not just sex.

I think Glenn was stupid to take him back and he's going to get hurt in the long run. I think Josh's feelings and heart stopped moment in the ER was because he was wracked with guilt. The accident happened right after he broke up. I get the feeling that he will get cold feet and when he's standing up at the altar he's going to break it up. Josh has just been a complete asshole through out the story. At first I was sympathetic for an unrequited love but them way he lashed out at Greg for not returning the feelings turned me on him. However I almost feel Greg may turn out to be gay. Like how they hated each other in the beginning was because Greg saw something in Josh (maybe subconsciously knowing he was gay)!that he was denying himself - if that makes sense.

Whose going to wear the rainbow cummerbund (I never cared for them)? It didn't sound like Blu was going to and since they were talking about Kalebs fitting file - I assume it's his.

I think Greg may just be jealous of someone else getting close to Josh in a friendship sense and feel that Glenn may not be good enough for Josh - a doctor and a shipping supervisor. Is it possible that Greg noticed how similar he and Glenn look a like?

Regarding Elliot's issue with status made me wonder why he went out with the waiter. The waiter said his ex walked in and I assumed it was Elliot, I thought Elliot cornering Mason at work was odd because you mentioned his PhD was in philosophy. Granite PhD means Philosophy Doctor and you can get PhDs in other areas. But I wouldn't expect someone with a degree in philosophy to be working at a company which focuses on sales. I'd expect him to work someplace else like a school.

I just read the entire story @stephanie l danielson . It was a very good story but as a reader I couldn't believe Alex didn't see Mason for who Mason really was. Five questions: First, if Alex and Paolo are both from Kansas and neighboring towns why was Paolo in a hotel? Second, if Elliott was a past boyfriend of Mason while in college at UVA why was he in Kansas? Third, if Elliott used his PhD to make Mason feel uneducated why would he date a waiter in Kansas? Four, when Elliott proposed to Mason mason said he was cornered in the office - which would be odd given you said Elliott was a PhD in philosophy while Mason got his MBA and is in sales. Finally did Mason ever take Alex's virginity. Of course questions two and three don't need to be answered if Alex's suspicions that the scene in the restaurant was a setup for a breakup. Despite those questions it was a good example of how love can be blind when your in lust. You don't believe what your friends or family say. I look forward to reading your other writings.

I would love to see this expanded and Kevin and Aaron's relationship develop even if this is a short. Additionally I would have liked to see how Mark ended up homeless - was it a direct result of Kevin's note causing a further downward spiral? Based on the death notice it and that Mark was homeless it sounds like his family written him off. Maybe it occurred when his wrist was broken. Also wouldn't it have been great if Kevin included his walk in and finding the gangbang in his letter. Aaron on truly saved Kevin from a bad relationship and possible diseases. Was this just a short or were the characters in another story? If I had to rate this I would give it five stars.

No offense but a guy going out ice skating by himself seems pretty gay. Maybe Masons latent or a hockey player. When I went ice skating it was always with a friend or a group. Never really saw it as a type of thing to do by yourself (unless your trying to practice like Trick).
