I have to say, looking back, I probably wouldn't have given much thought if any of Chris' family had been captured/killed in the attack. Now that I can at least sympathize somewhat with him, I feel like that would have probably been the breaking point given all of his other issues. As much as he has to work through, I'm glad that isn't added to the list. I can't say I'm overly shocked by the revelation that Michael was bit of a bitch for his friends. He seemed to be a bit of a mixed bag in general, so the fact that he got off on being dominated while trying to show he could dominate others doesn't seem like much of a stretch. Hopefully Chris is able to sort through the feelings of what being on both sides of that did to him. I also have to hope he can make amends at some point. He has so much that I think many back home deserve to hear, and he needs to at least be able to show he isn't quite as much of a monster as it seemed to them. Looking forward to the next!

Part of what I was looking forward to with reading this story was how things that happened back in Parker Valley would impact him across the country. It's understandable that he feels worry for those there, as well as for himself. He was wise to associate this to Michael so quickly. I don't recall anyone jumping to that conclusion back home. It's nice to see him actually developing some friendships. His guards may be doing a job, but the more they get along, the easier it is for everyone there. This may be a "job", but they're doing a lot of things to help him as well (letting him run/hunt, socialize, and just being there for him like friends should). Hopefully that allows him to continue growing up from the brat he once was. Looking forward to the next!

It was nice to see Chris take issue with his own thoughts so quickly. Actually shows he can recognize his own problems fairly reasonably, which hopefully continues as he tries to make the changes he needs to. Glad that Kyle decided to step in and get involved as well. Chris did some awful things, but he would never stand a chance at fully changing his ways if people weren't willing to help. Hopefully he continues to get support from the outside.

It's interesting to know just how far the rabbit hole Chris (and Michael) had gone already. It would have been one thing for this attack on Ethan to be a major step, but was it really? They'd already attacked him multiple times and had already raped other people. Killing them is another step, but it's not as much of an increase compared to going from simply attacking him to attacking, raping, and killing him. I think we all got that Michael was a bit twisted when it came to Aiden, but it definitely looks like it went well beyond that. He was a sick wolf and not getting rid of him would have been even more of a poison than it seemed (and it was pretty obvious with what we already knew).

I have to say, as reasonable of a stopping point as it is, I was surprised that it might be the end. So many things I'd still love to see, such as the actual return of strength to the shifters, Fendral coming back into the community, and the growth of several of the main characters (not to mention some of the mated pairs that took so much to get together). Plus just watching Tobyn & Kellar play off of each other is great as well. They aren't loose ends, but storylines that continue to hold interest (at least for me). If it does prove to be the overall end, I hope an epilogue may come out just to provide a glimpse at how things turn out for the community. Still, if this is the overall end, it was an excellent journey. And if it's the end of book 1, i very much look forward to the next element to the journey. Either way, it's been great to be able to be immersed in the Morningstar universe. Thanks for writing!

Excellent series of stories. I've tended to favor supernatural stories on this site, but the foundation of this series grabbed me from the beginning. It's hard to think that some of the characters that were developed so wonderfully don't make it to a HEA by the end, but it's realistic that some might not. It was great to see that the main cast did, however. Hearing of something happening to break up any of the big 3-4 relationships that were developed over the 3 stories would have left things a bit sad, so it was nice to see Mattie/Spin, Dylan/Jesse, and Dusty/Zak survive into the future. Thanks for writing such a great collection.

It's interesting to see a different perspective on something that was relatively small for most of the Parker Valley characters by this point. Well...Chris' role at least. Michael was just beginning to ramp up his antagonism around now. From what I recall, this is about as far as we were informed of Chris' experiences in the first book. I look forward to seeing how he progresses & reflects, either through future actions or review of his past. A lot was happening back in Parker Valley around this time, so I'll be curious if there are ripple effects for the major events. Looking forward to the next!

As small of a detail as it was, I really enjoyed Kellar putting Tobyn in his place a bit. It would be easy for Tobyn to feel like a "subservient mate" as he once put it, but Kellar does what he has to prove that's not true. Although the more visible power lies with Kellar, he draws strength, calmness, and logic from Tobyn and he's good at reminding his mate of his importance. Fendral reminds me of a stubborn old man...a pretty fitting grandfather. He's been through so much, but maybe he'll finally have a chance to turn things around after all of these years. He understands what he did and is probably harsher on himself than anyone else. It feels like he still has enough in the tank to be of help to the people he once led. He also carries some great wisdom, showing Kellar how important it is to accept his lineage on both sides. It'd be an insult to his mother - and grandfather - to ignore his heritage from that side. Yes, he's a healer and does great wonders with that regularly. But he's also a leader and organizer. He wants to help people, and not just from illness. He acted as such in speaking to Vega. Not to mention wanting to help everyone against the Hunters. He is a healer, but he's more than that. It's about time he recognizes that he can be more than just 1 thing to the pack and beyond. Looking forward to the next one!

It's nice to see you writing something in the Pack-verse again. Wolf fics (which are sadly in fairly short supply) are what caught my attention at GA and your first story in this world was one of my favorites. Looking forward to reading another one set in this world, even if it's not where I would have expected a sequel/spin-off to come from. It should be interesting to see what Chris gets into, especially since he seemed to understand how bad he had messed up with Ethan. His remorse upon exile definitely gives him a chance to be likable, which his Alpha never had. Good luck and can't wait to see where you take this one!

I won't lie, i was a bit wary when the chapter title popped up in my updates. They've had so much good going lately that I was afraid something might throw a major wrench in this tentative progress they've made. Glad to see that wasn't the case (yet) haha. Some of my favorite chapters throughout have been the major healings that Kellar has performed, especially getting to enjoy the contrasts between the before & after. Adeline, Logan, Arthur, Connor...all great to see as they went from some form of broken to being whole again. I can only hope Fendral is able to follow the same path and add to the legacy of what Kellar has accomplished. A tribe elder and a familial tie would be great for the pack and Kellar. Great to see the relationship between the two leads as well. I'm sure Tobyn would deny being nearly as pivotal as Kellar sees him, but they really do complete each other. It's great to see. Looking forward to the next one!

Been working my way through the fic. I don't generally read things that are quite so heavy on the smut, but these characters definitely make it interesting. It's been fun to read them as they bond into a family through all of the situations they come across. Hope they're able to get Nix back soon and move on after this unfortunate event. Poor cat deserves to be with his family, especially while pregnant. Entertaining story!

Circle Upon Circle Upon Circle
Acid07 commented on Headstall's story chapter in Circle Upon Circle Upon Circle
That's a bit of a bombshell for Kellar. He's gone from never having had a blood family or a pack to having someone living & apparently being a rightful Alpha to the place he calls home. It makes sense for what he's done though, as he's been working to lead them in the right direction from the beginning, even before he knew the people. He clearly has the size going for him as well. As interesting as the development is, I'll be curious to see how it plays out. He already wanted to do what he could for the pack & had desires to help Fendral, so it's not like those elements are (likely) going to change. Maybe it'll help with the recruiting though haha. Looking forward to the next one! -
Excellent story. Great to watch the slow building relationship as both finally get on the same page. They come from very different backgrounds, but ultimately found a way to make it work. Great story, with a nice touch of supernatural to keep things interesting. Thanks for writing!

Entertaining fic. Hadn't read much from the mage genre, but this was quite a story. Definitely a bit dark, but no less interesting to see the story play out. Thanks for writing!

That was a nice, balanced chapter. The heavy side of Connor's unfortunate past, dangerous injuries, and the unexpected debriefing they had. The lighter side of healing everything, his acceptance of the supernatural, and some humor to close it out. The fact that he didn't want to see Hugh first just in case he might react poorly was thoughtful of Connor and the quirk about other types of monsters in the world was a sobering reminder that humanity has its issues outside of the supernatural elements. Good to see things working out for another pair, which can only help the pack in the long run. Entertaining read and looking forward to the next!

Entertaining story. Enjoyed the roller coaster that the characters went through. Excellent use of characters changing over time. Ryle grew stronger after his rough past. Gabe had peaks and valleys, falling to a broken state before recovering. Even the heartless Captain developed care for those around him. Definitely a great read. Thanks for writing.

The Times They Are a-Changin'
Acid07 commented on Headstall's story chapter in The Times They Are a-Changin'
Another entertaining chapter. It's nice to see Warren be so level-headed and self-deprecating about his past. He doesn't have a ton of faith in himself, despite being (presumably) clean and already providing for the community (copper solution, shop job, etc). It would be easy for him to fall into a comfort level of being a "normal" member of the community, but instead he's still wary of himself, and isn't willing to risk anything happening due to weakness. He's strong, even if he doesn't see it yet. Hope Kellar is able to get things sorted for Hugh & Connor. Thus far we haven't had any mate situations go completely south (though Kellar/Tobyn came close) and Connor seems like he could use the support of the community based on whatever has happened in his past. Looking forward to seeing it play out! -
Chapter 48 Connections, Old and New
Acid07 commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 48 Connections, Old and New
Been reading through the story and just wanted to say that it's been a great roller coaster to get through. Sad to be caught up, but looking forward to seeing how the story continues.
