Yes, they were very surprised and, well, time is one thing that allows people more time to think. I like to believe that I have lived a bit and even enough to know this to be the truth. Even with parents who love us and whom we love, things like these can happen. From the multitude of reactions given to the situation described in these chapters, it is one like yours that I happen to find the closest to what I meant to convey. I know for a fact that it's not an easy thing to present correctly, and readers' reactions are proof of how things can be seen one way or another (not in terms of right or wrong). So, thank you for this comment! -

Thank you, Joie! I would never want Rusty and Jonathan to succumb to their flaws... and they're good people at heart! -

Oh, thank you so much! It was, indeed, a challenge to have so many people talking in the same scene! I'm glad someone noticed the effort, since it's not like a movie, where it is easy to have all the visual support for who's saying what. Eh, you're right to anticipate drama! But by the end of it all, I think you'll forgive me - please, don't think I'm full of myself - you be the judge! And throwing pizza at me? I'll have to play dog and catch it with my mouth, lol! -

I can see that Jonathan looks more suspicious than I've ever intended to portray him... but could it be that it's because he feels guilty over things he couldn't control, or is it because he's really hiding something? -

Of course! Few things remain little private when there are eyes everywhere! And yes, it only takes a little lie... and then here comes another. It's a slippery slope, and the landing is never pleasant. But this is the point of it all. To have trials and tribulations before the happily ever after! -

Did you say... Xpress? Be careful what you want... just saying the name might make the demon appear! -
Chapter Thirty-Five – Shooting For The Stars Jonathan pulled the blanket around his body and shivered. “Why on earth did I agree to this?” Rusty lay on his back, hands behind his head, and sighed contentedly. “Because there’s no better view than this. You can’t really see the sky like this from your window, right?” They were on the roof, and the temperature wasn’t that conducive to admiration of the night sky, but Rusty seemed happy to have someone to share this experience with, s

That's a fresh - and good - look. Everyone expects him to continue to be a womanizer unless something changes... and look, surprise, it did!
-
Probably the reaction of 99.99% of everyone reading this chapter, lol!
-
So sorry about that - maybe I should put a warning - cliffhangers ahead, keep your head and hands inside the car!

10 times, no less? He-he-he...

Why am I not in the least surprised that it is you taking things so deep and understanding them? I always expect different reactions at what happens in my stories, because it is a human thing to do, and I'm, well, very interested in human beings, or else I wouldn't write. And there comes, a comment like yours, that practically makes me understand what I wrote the things the way I did. It's really amazing, and the level of insight in how you see things really surprises me in the most pleasant of ways every time. Yes, a mixed bag, that's the very definition of what makes us human. We can never be 100% sure of anything, and that's something we have to learn to live with. And we make assumptions and use labels because our human minds are limited, as much as we might not like to accept it, and this is just a way of having some semblance of order in the chaos around us.

There is always hope, of course. But it's a process, and I think that Maddox will eventually come to see the bigger picture, and understand that everything is a process.

A wild ride is coming... and not just for Jonathan!

I know what you mean. But that's also part of growing up... and thank you for the trust!

Well, it's a modern tragedy... so at least, no one has to die!
