  1. Brad is actually quite observant. Lyn's impression of him might have tricked you, but super-social people tend to know everything. And he was interested in Lyn - and Alexander. Even if he didn't know the whole truth, he knew enough. (And he was at Lyn's house when Lyn's dad's driver tried to push that check on him.)
  2. And all the causes have roots deeper and deeper in their own lives... In the end, I hope that everything will come together.
  3. So true. Maybe it's not so late for him to grow up. But the parallel... oh yes, they always come out of the woodwork
  4. Chapter Fifty-Seven – The Three of Us, We’ve Always Been So Misaligned Three AM, on the dot. Back home for barely two days, and his insomnia was back as well, and with a vengeance. Lyn swung his legs over the edge of the bed and let his soles touch the cool floor. A short sweep with one hand over the sheet on his side barely left any signs of his lying there for the last few hours. Not really sleeping, just dozing, on and off. The other side of the bed remained untouched. When he didn’
  5. I feel like this story is gaining a soundtrack of its own, thanks to the readers!
  6. You're right about that, Chris!
  7. He-he, penetrating comments... Thanks for the great music!
  8. So true! He wouldn't be himself otherwise!
  9. Theo needs more convincing...
  10. Vince did 'threaten' Theo with all that... let's see if the adventure they just embarked on allows much of that!
  11. Chapter Eighteen – Cry ‘Wolf’ The plane could only take them this far. Since Jack’s cards, like a compass, indicated that they needed to cross the mountain range awaiting them with its treacherous paths and jagged cliffs, they had to travel on foot from this point onward. Vince took in their surroundings as they walked in silence. Once he had been pointed in the right direction, Theodore had taken it upon himself to be their leader and walk in the front. His guardian instincts told Vi
  12. Give him time Also, there's just one more big revelation coming...
  13. He-he... don't stop, we're closer to the end than we've even been before (I know, bad joke)
  14. Correct! Lyn's defining dichotomy - think versus feel. And Lyn of today knows it wouldn't have worked with Brad.
  15. Oh, yes, this goes straight to my authorial heart if I may say so. They're flawed, indeed. I like to think they're as close to real people as they can be.
  16. It's Lyn's so very nature.
  17. There are few chapters left now So you will soon see the conclusion to the whole story.
  18. Yes, he did all those things... so he couldn't commit and couldn't be happy. Something has always been missing in his life. With very few chapters remaining - compared to the length of the story - he is close to seeing everything more clearly. Interesting how you noticed the way he 'borrowed' things from his friends. That's a sign that he never forgot them. Brad inviting them to the wedding made the whole thing happen I know I'm grateful for that, he-he... my dear inciting incident.
  19. You're reading Alexander so well here... I know he comes across as dramatic, but that's part of his personality. We all have our particularities, our quirks, and many points in the story, he showed how proud he can be. So, what you're saying is spot on: Alexander will never beg to be chosen. He wants - stubbornly so - that Lyn comes to him. That is something he would never give up on. And there will be more on that! Revelations may come from the least expected source... I think! So touching the things you mention about the home Brad offered, and the freedom Alexander gifted Lyn. That is why they are both important to him. At one point, someone told me they were expecting the story to end in a threesome, but it's not that sort of story. All the pain they suffered was partially self-inflicted, partially caused by external factors. In life, we make do with the hand we're dealt, that kind of thing. I know I tried something different with this story, and I like to believe that at least to some degree I managed to achieve my goals. One of them was for the title - a single word, so more difficult compared to something more comprehensive - to make sense in the end for the entire story. The other, just as important, is the importance of memory, but more so, the importance of the way we remember. The idea for this story came to me when I saw in a bookstore window in my country an old title that I read when I was about 12 or so. I went home and searched online for the synopsis because I wanted to tell someone else about it. Color me shocked: what I actually took from the story - a very emotional read - wasn't exactly how the story went. Sometime, over the decades that passed between me at 12 and me now, the memory of that story crystalized into something somewhat different from the truth - a truth that's in ink and paper so it can't be denied. And so this story emerged But enough of going on a tangent. Thank you for the commentary, as always.
  20. I believe Alexander says it himself... (in other words, he can hold a grudge, and come on, for all his 'perfect' self, he can be so petty) “I still wanted you, but I’ve always told myself I’d never run after you...
  21. Yes, there will be some... more drama, but not as intense as this (with the exception of the chapter I just posted, of course, which is the most terrible memory for the three guys).
  22. Oh man... who'd be so unfortunate to have them over for that...
  23. You did make me laugh with your commentary on Alexander! Yes, I did want to portray a more realistic outcome for the characters here, Brad and Bella included. What she told Lyn about what brought her and Brad together is only a glimpse of their relationship. So yes, Luke can and will grow up, Brad needs a cold shower, and Bella is capable of forgiveness.
  24. They were friends for a reason. They completed each other in ways others couldn't have offered them. Luke is not all bad, I swear.
