The next morning my alarm clock didn’t wake me up. It was because someone had turned it off, I started scrambling to my feet but realized there was no use. It was already past the time for the bus to run. No one had bothered to wake me up or check on me, so I started to worry that Mom and Dad really had meant to take me to the doctor and get my injuries documented. I breathed a sigh of relief when I looked out my window and saw the driveway was empty. They had both left for wor

After getting home I was afraid that Mom would corner me into the living room to interrogate me. I had already told her what happened, but she’d want me to replay every little detail, like a detective. She would also be reading my reactions to things, something over the years I tried to mask, but she always seemed to guess right. I wondered if they took lessons on this sort of thing, but thought my mother would do more good in the world as an investigator instead of a therapist.

Sunday morning arrived too quickly. Mom still had the notion of pleasing her patients with reports from church. Landfalls was a quiet, wholesome type of neighborhood. It did seem the teenagers were outgrowing it though. Mom blames television for that. Stacey refused to go, but she was sitting cross armed in the van next to me. I was looking out the window not really looking forward to hearing how bad of a Christian I was. How much I was living for the day instead of for eternity.

It was cold in the morning when I woke up and there was a thick fog in the air. I knew it was early, as there was still a blue twilight look in the forest. Dew had also settled on us both, giving a damn feel to our clothes. Jonathon and I had separated in the night sometime as we woke up on opposite ends of the wooden plank we slept on the night before. “Jonathon are you awake?” I asked as I stretched trying to get the stiffness out of my body from sleeping on a hard surface. Jonathon onl

Getting off the bus I rushed up to the door and unlocked it. I dropped my bad at the door with a loud thump as the books hit the hardwood floor. I walked up the stairs and into my room to see my tux on my bed still in the dry cleaning bag. Mom had dropped it off during her lunch hour. When I was dressed I stepped across the hall to the bathroom to look my self in the mirror. I sprayed some cologne on my tuxedo then straightened out the red vest before I left the bathroom. Before I left t

The rest of the day I did homework, it was a slow task, as I couldn’t get tomorrow out of my mind. I didn’t even know what I was going to wear to the dance. I wasn’t a dancer either; I doubt most guys my age were around here. Lacey was making things really difficult for me and I didn’t know how I was going to put a stop to that. It wasn’t like I could move on and pick another girl. I was with Jonathon, a guy. I knew I was gay, but I didn’t think I would find someone and then have the coura

The rest of the day Mom paced the floors. She was really worried about Jonathon. She even looked at the phone. Mom was an open minded professional, she played by the rules and stuck to her beliefs. She would have a terrible time keeping her end of the agreement and I knew it was only a matter of time before she snapped and sat down with Jonathon’s dad. I would hate to know what all Jonathon had to go through though. I had trouble sleeping that night as well. Stacey had gotten in late and

Waking up and knowing that I’d kissed the preacher’s son the day before unnerved me. I would be seeing Jonathon at school today and I didn’t know how that would go. Yesterday after Jonathon left mom asked me if anything new had happened. I had told her no, but something told me that she didn’t believe me. She didn’t push it though and she didn’t make a scene once everyone else was back into the home. Adam took Stacey fishing after his track practice, which she said she hated. They’re going a

When I was walking up the stairs to my house I heard loud footsteps leaving the front door. I rolled my eyes, but hesitated to open it. I was being spied on by someone and I just knew that as soon as the door opened that I’d be flooded with questions. The door did open though and it surprised me. “Comin in Christian?” Stacey asked smiling at me. I looked behind her and saw Mom and Dad sitting on the couch. “I live here don’t I?” I asked rolling my eyes. She stepped out of my way and I entered

I knew when I woke up Monday morning that the day was going to be bad. It slightly scared me to know what most of the people that I hung out with were the same people that were with me Sunday at church. Especially Jonathon who heard all of what my mom and dad told his father. I didn’t know if I wanted to be good friends with them anymore. Not after what I learned. I didn’t want to have to be tied down to their beliefs. I knew that they weren’t all that holy and that they were normal teenagers to

Waking up this early on a Sunday felt sinful. I woke up nervous about actually going to church. It started at eight in the morning and didn't get out until twelve. Mom had set my alarm and when I heard Stacey bitching I knew that mom had set hers too. I did beat her to the bathroom this morning while she threw her tantrum slamming things around as she looked for her clothes. "Mom is going to pay for that." She hissed after I exited the bathroom to find her laying against the

When the weekend rolled around I found myself feeling lonely. Stacey did get to go on her date after Mom let her go. She said that it was great that she was already making such an effort to make things work here. Stacey just wanted to get to know her hot tour guide and it annoyed me that I was now stuck here late in the afternoon on a sunny day doing nothing. “Christian you know we could set up an art room for you.” Dad said walking into the living room to find me holding a sleeping Grace in my

The bus ride wasn’t very long. If we really wanted to, Stacey and I could walk the mile or two back home everyday. I didn’t think Stacey ever would be up to doing that. When we got back home I hadn’t put back in my earrings. I didn’t want to get into trouble and they also didn’t fit in with the new life we’re living. I attempted to control the shaggy almost curly head of hair when the principal and secretary threatened to write me up, but I think I failed in the attempt. I was beginning to wish

Sara’s Joey Joe Powell woke up late for work on a windy, cold fall morning. It had rained during the night, the leaves had fallen off the trees making the lawn a colorful and soggy mosaic of color. This morning, he didn’t have time to kiss his wife goodbye or check on his daughter, he didn’t even have time to start the coffee machine. Late nights at the office all week working on projects was the cause of his rush. He had always been career oriented, but after the birth of his daughter five y

A short story I started for an Anthology, but missed the deadline. Decided to finish it and show it anyway. It is about a man who find himself in an unexpected life after his tragic death.

A story about a boy who moves to a new town completely different from where he and his family used to live. It deals slightly with mannerisms dealing with religion and homosexuality.

There I was on my way to hell. I didn’t know where Landfalls North Carolina was. I couldn’t locate the town on a map and now my family and I were well on our way. Our way to hell. The move was strange. After my father got shot in Baltimore for losing a case, my mom thought it best to leave the big city life to the more lucky people of the world and move us into the country close to where she grew up. I was losing everything I knew. I looked over at my little sister, still a baby. She could start

The history of the King of Cliffhangers award.
Krista replied to C James's topic in C James Fan Club's Topics
Hmm.. Cj, I do remember a certain someone that made the King of Cliffhanger award a two year in a row limit... you weren't nominated because of THAT rule and that rule only. So, this year... since someone else took it last year.. we have all the more reason to bestow on you the honor this year. -
Blockbuster here doesn't carry gay/lesbian/etc movies. SO, if I were to watch any it would be using Netflix and the online Blockbuster rentals... I would just hate to though... I like to not be controlled by media in that way.. I like things easy. I don't rent movies all that often, if I want to see it bad enough I go and buy the movie.. I Did though, search Youtube and came up empty (although I don't condone the illegal streaming.. haha)

I cry at the drop of a hat really.. lol. Titanic, A Walk To Remember, The Notebook - they get me all the time, no matter how many times I see them.

What the heck Goat? Stop grasping at straws... you will find the needle eventually. (Yes that was stupid, but hey I'm on meds) BUT! Making enemies in a time like this isn't the way to go Goat. Wildone, Graeme, and MikeL... can pull a lot of Evil Cliffhanger votes in your direction. Hmmm... creating conspiracies seem to be your M.O..
