Hi Anton. Methinks you have hacked my outline notes. Both events are in the offing as well as a visit in an entirely new direction ! Stay tuned!. Thank you for the good wishes. Hope your new year is a happy and suceessful one too.

Hi Anton. Hope you enjoyed the chapter. I retired from the hospitality industry three years ago, but realised I could not sit at home every day. A good friend offered me a position with his company in an admin role, working every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Once I was there, things were going so well that he expanded my role to sales as well, going in every day, and it's been great.

Hi everyone. Just posting a generic message of thank you to all of you for your good wishes. While my technology issues are sorted out (for the moment), I am actively looking to replace my tablet with another device. Don't know yet if it will be something similar or a laptop, but looking for a good deal. I didn't find anything that appealed on the Black Friday deals, but hopefully something will come up on the new year sales. The health issues unfortunately come with advancing years. Although not life threatening ( at least not as far as I know), it is nevertheless debilitating at time, mainly pain related. I am loathe to rely on painkillers all the time as I have a very good friend who became addicted to pain killers during to similar problem. I find rest is a great help if I can, instead of the medication. We'll have to see how it goes.

As Andrew had made their reservations quite late, their usual block of rooms was not available, so Larry had arranged two of the exclusive, thatched three bedroom, self-catering cottages for them instead, a resort within a resort, which to be quite honest, they were not unhappy with. The cottages stood along the length of one of the fairways of the golf course, and were designed as duplexes with the main bedroom with balcony, and bathroom on the upper level. The ground level contained the two se

Good morning. I left a comment/messsage on the maim page. The problem with my tablet that i do all my writing on has cropped up gain - ie not charging/ taking ages to charge/discharging within minutes of use. It is with Samsung at the moment for evaluation but I have a feeling I am going to have to purchase a new device. I am hoping that they will be able to do enough that I can retrieve what I already have done. Will keep everyone advised.

Hi Folks. Just a quick update. My apologies for the lack of chapters lately. The technology problem I had a a month or two back has reared its head again, only worse. To the extent that I am having to consider purchasing a new tablet. However, even though I am part time working, I am still a pensioner and I am weighing up the cost of purchasing a new tablet against the cost of constant repairs to my old one. I ahve more or less reconciled myself to the fact the I will not be able to afford a new Samsung (which I have at the moment and had given me good service) as the are prohibitively expensive here in South Africa, at least to me. So it looks like I will have to downgrade to a cheaper make. My existing tablet is in for evaluation once again and I am awaiting a report from Samsung themselves. The mail problem id that it is not charging properly and once it is charged it discharges in no time at all.

Hi @Summerabbacat. Thanks for the comment. the closest I have seen to vegetarian biltong is beetroot & butternut crisps. Not sure if you have them but or if it is a purely South African product. Of course there is a lot of dried fruit available. We get banana, mango & pineapple in the more exotic fruit

Devlin-Major was one of the lucky hospitality companies post Covid, in that business bounced back relatively quickly. For the first few weeks after the two lodges in Cape Town reopened, Andrew and Ryan spent a great deal of their time at Blue Bay and The Cameron. Every day, from 8am to 10.30am and again from 4pm to 6pm, one of them would be in the foyers of each lodge, chatting to departing and arriving guests. And the overwhelming response from their guests highlighted the reason. Ambience, hom

They boarded the golf carts and drove the short distance to the clubhouse, situated on a low rise overlooking the course and directly below, a small lake, approximately one kilometre long by maybe a half kilometre wide. It sat in a bowl between the hill that the clubhouse stood on, and another, taller, hill opposite that curved down lower at either end. On the right, the river that flowed through the resort emptied into the lake over some rapids, and continued on its meandering course through th

Correct. According to my planning charts (which to be honest are not infallible), Andrew is will be 37 and Ryan 38.

Hi @Summerabbacat, thanks for the comment. The lavish meals are only when they are at the hotels or on the yachts, and even on the yachts they might dine well, but they dine very simply in the normal course of events. they do NOT dine like that at home, where meals are generally centred around the children. and are usual reasonably well balanced meals. - if spaghetti bolognaise et al can be considered balanced. To a certain extent, Devlin Major already had a philanthropic arm, so to speak, in the profit sharing scheme that they have in place for their staff. Its just not really formalised as such. But a charitable foundation of some sort is not entirely out of the question!

Living and working on a resort that Drakensberg Resort is based on was another one of the joys in my life. The management were a fairly close knit group, and we worked and played hard in equal measure. Although we did not live in one anthers pockets. i also cannot forget the number of wildlife encounters I had, not only out and about on the resort, but in the garden of my cottage that I lived in on the resort. It ranged from antelope grazing on grass, to a daily visit right to my door by a family of peacocks who decided that my home was theirs as well, to being late for an early shift due to a leopard prowling in the garden - and monkeys causing havoc with the rubbish bin. It made for exciting times

As I replied to @pvtguy, all parents have had an embarrassing experience with their children as result of sex. Whether it them walking in at an inopportune time or finding them naked like Jamie did. I think its a rite of passage to being a parent. For Jamie it was the fact that they were naked in bed, which for him was a totally new concept. He had seen them both naked many times having often showered with his dads.
-
It one of those scenarios that I think most parents have to experience, whether gay or hetro. And its good to have a laugh about it afterwards

Thanks as always Chris

The next morning before breakfast , Ryan and Jeremy pulled another eight crayfish from, what they now con-sidered, their rock pool, then took Rascal and Toby for a run on the beach and refresh their litter trays, before Darren raised the sails for the next leg up the coast to Elands Bay, as the elves in the galley prepared breakfast. The sea air seemed to have sharpened their appetites, so a hearty breakfast got the day off to a good start. The sky was a deep blue, with not a cloud in sight, so

You will have noticed the latest chapter has been posted, so the data recovery was successful.

Jeez Chris. You are amazing. I unpublished the chapter because it published immediately after I save it onto the site - but had not completed the edit.

With new years eve and it's associated festivities just a day away, Andrew was keen to get an update on arrange-ments at Blue Bay, The Cameron and the Drakensberg Resort. He had, very deliberately, not communicated with any of the properties while at the game lodge knowing that if anything pressing came up they would contact him. Not that he micro managed - much - but he just wanted to be up to speed. They would be at Blue Bay this year and were looking forward to it, so while Ryan was on 'baby

Hi everyone Bad news!! The tablet that I use to write the drafts of the chapters on has crashed. I have been having issues with it over the past week or so with the power cable not connecting properly and the battery discharging even when showing it is on charge. Then this morning it won't turn on at all. I will be taking it in to see if it can be repaired, failing which I will have to look at purchasing a new one. And then I have to find out if all the data can be saved, particularly the next chapter which was all but ready for publication and the following chapter outlines. Will keep you advised of developments.

The great thing is, it actually exists. as far as I am concerned it is one of our countries most well kept secrets. If anyone wants more details, please DM me.

Makes me wish I was back there.
-
Thank you. I think you can tell this one was written from experiences.
